Intolerance
The definition of intolerance is “the unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one's own”. There have been many times in history when people have been unwilling to accept things that are different than what they belief. There has been the Nazi regime, whites segregating blacks, people who disagree with people who are homesexual, and Donald Trump.
One example of intolerance is during the Nazi regime. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he tried to imprison and kill all Jews and nobody for the most part tried to stop him. Hitler didn’t stop there though, he still thought that everyone who didn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes were not good enough, because they were not what he thought to be the perfect race. There was the holocaust. There were about 42, 500 facilities in Germany that were used for slave labor, mass murder, and other human right abuses. It is to be predicted that about 200,000 Jews died during the Holocaust. Jews were hunted down and were forced to go into hiding. If they were caught, they would be sent to concentration camps where many died. Six million Jews died, including 1.5 million children during the Nazi regime. Five million

Many people think that there is something wrong with them and resent them. There are many cases where family members push them out or ignore them because they are gay, lesbians, transgender, or bissexual. Some people refuse to marry two of the same sex because it goes outside of their beliefs. There are some people dislike people who are gay and lesbians, so much that they feel like they need to kill them. If intolerance is “the unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one's own”, then this was a good example because people mainly dislike people who are gay, lesbian, transgender, or bissexual becuase they are unwilling to accept views and beliefs that are different from their
Hatred, abuse, social injustice, and general dislike of an individual or group will never be controlled or extinguished through any means of education or political mandate. These terrible practices are part of the human frailty of life, and can be found among every ethnicity and culture. While it should never be condoned, it cannot be eradicated.
Bigotry was able to stem into different, horrible events in history. Bigotry led to the physical abuse of Africans, the outrageous number of murders of Jewish people, and, most recently, the shockingly large amount of police shootings of unarmed black people and other people of color. People feel like they have to be violent towards a certain group, whether it be out of fear, hatred or just because someone had different beliefs than them. Bigotry is what causes this
Racism is a big problem in our world today and it is being used at work, schools, and public places. One example of racial discrimination is president trump banning 6 countries. President Trump saw one religious group as one because of events that occurred that killed innocent people. I am going through this religious ban my grandparents can't come for a long time.
Prejudice and bigotry have created chaotic situations in history while becoming integrated into society. Evident prejudices remain the basis of events such as the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide. Although both events are extreme situations of bigotry, prejudices towards religions and ethnicities still remain. Sister Rose Thering conducted a war against prejudice towards the Jewish people. The entire religion was blamed for crucifying Jesus. Sister Rose’s unique and commendable actions allowed her to be successful in her strife against prejudice and bigotry. She even influenced me to take action against bigotry with knowledge instead of simply hoping for the best.
Throughout history people have been intolerant, some examples of this are the Holocaust, Japanese Internment Camps, and slavery in the US. The Holocaust is the definition of intolerance, over 6 million Jews were killed simply
What exactly is intolerance? The dictionary defines intolerance as “The unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one's own.” I see intolerance as the dislike of someone or something because of their views, beliefs, or behavior. Although many people don’t understand it, intolerance was an issue of the past, an issue of today, would benefit the world greatly with its abolishment.
For instance, Mohamed Morsi was elected to be leader of Egypt even after he made statements that demonized Jews. When Morsi was questioned about the statements he made, he did not do anything to take back what he said or correct his behavior. This demonstrates that society is still allowing this kind of behavior. No one deserves to be hated and treated differently just because they look different. It is not okay to promote hate just because you have the power and authority to do
There was no one morning where the people of Germany woke up and decided to hate the Jews. Anti-semitism in Europe dates back to centuries ago, to the time period of Jesus Christ. This was the start of a chain reaction that leads to viewing Jews as the “other,” and the pent up intolerance that would eventually fuse over into mass genocide. This resentment boomed in Germany when Hitler accused the Jews of being backstabbers that caused their defeat in WWI. A powerful combination of the incredibly long lasting anti-semitism, scapegoating of the Jews, and the establishment of the Nazi Party alongside Hitler’s rise to power resulted in a rapid transformation from an emerging democracy into a genocidal, fascist dictatorship.
In today's time we also punish people based on their beliefs just as harsh as Hitler did. We take a more mental approach to it. We talk about people and we stare. This hurts them on the inside. Even though we have laws and amendments that give people free religion, we still judge them. Most of the time we judge people that are disabled, we stare at them, then talk about them. President Trump is banning immigrants from the United
Since the beginning of time, technological and social advancements have allowed the human race to ascend as the most dominant species in the world. Innovations such as electricity and technology have permitted us to live in a connected world, while social advancements such as democracy, widespread education, and improvements in racial and sexual equality have led to a more civilized and fair society. While humans are constantly evolving and advancing towards a better way of life, one negative aspect of human thought seems to prevail through even the most driven societies. The actions of expressing bigotry and the voicing of intolerance for those who are either different or hold different beliefs has caused hatred, pain, and suffering throughout
When looking into the history of Germany and determining what led to the startling rise in Nazism in Germany and its detrimental effects on the social outcasts in Europe, it can be easy to deduce that the Nazi regime was one where Hitler walked in with his officials and took office by force. The truth is that, while the Nazi party is responsible for the atrocities that occurred before and during WWII, they would have not gotten far if it hadn’t been for the cooperation of the German people themselves. Life in the Third Reich provides proof through voting, youth programs and village life that the Nazi party rose into power with German support.
When I was thirteen years old I experienced what I like to label my first true example of aggressive bigotry. I had met racists, religious zealots, and radicals with all sorts of different beliefs that conflicted with mine but but never had I been subjected to any sort forced beliefs in an environment that I had been told was safe. It was a disheartening experience that left me questioning what I really believed and if these people were really of the sterling character I thought they were.
The leaders of the Nazi party made it one of the most infamous groups to lead a nation in history. The horrible things done under their rule and with their stamp of approval has made the term Nazi one of the worst possible. The amazing thing about the Nazi party is that many of the main aspects of their ideology existed in Germany even before they formed or came to power. Some of the major aspects of Nazi ideology such as antisemitism, the desire to expand the German empire, and the belief in the strength of the Aryan race existed in Germany years before Adolf Hitler was a name anyone in Germany would recognize.
