For my first reflection the reading I choose to write about was the Northouse book Introduction to Leadership. The main concepts from this reading was ethics and thoroughly discusses ethics and what six factors makes an ethical leader. The reading describes how the six factors apply to leadership. Also the reading goes into how exactly they apply by providing real life examples of ethical leaders. From the six factors the most notable to me was character and actions of a leader because the author says “your character, are derived from your actions” (p. 231).
In soccer the defenders goal is preventing your opponents from scoring by either taking the ball away and giving your team possession of the ball or kicking the ball out to allow your

Thinking back on this event my action represented my character and from that day I didn’t want to have poor character because that is how I’d represent myself to others. I wanted to present myself in way were my peers, future employers, and even teachers would think highly of me.
This also meant when looking for jobs or even asking teachers to write something for me about myself my character is something that they would see and take into consideration. I realized that this is something that is important academically and in the work force which can help me advance in school or work related and something that people in general notice is character. Also that my character can impact these relationships with my teachers, peers, and future employers.
Showing good character even at the most difficult times this best said by author “character enables a leader to maintain his or hers core ethical values even in time of immense adversity” (p. 223). I think that these both apply school wise as well as career wise because if you’re able to go maintain good character and achieve your goals ethically you'll be successful in both areas. Also these qualities can make you stand out to professors when they write recommendation letters or even consider students for opportunities you’ll be more appealing to them. The same can be true for the workforce your boss will notice you and you’ll be more appealing when they’re considering employees for advancement in a
Character is presumably the most important trait that anyone can have. People judge based on character and it can shape who you are. I believe that I have good character and that I am a good person. In my opinion being a good person, doing what is right, and doing well in school are the three main things that shape your character from the beginning of preschool all the way
I think that good character is very important in life because it shows who you are as a person, how you carry yourself as a person and how you treat other people. Having good character is what I believe you need to be successful in life, having good character can cause you to get a good job, possibly getting a raise in your job, making friends and just doing the right thing in general.
Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to every individual. Although what our peers think of us really doesn’t matter, we sometimes tend to get sucked into trying to please someone else. Therefore you can lose yourself while doing so. To not fall into that trap, it’s important to set lifetime goals to be the best person you can be, it will get you further. People will notice your qualities that stand out, you have to cling to your moral values and what’s best.
Character is a combination of all the qualities listed above, but also the overall kindness and integrity one can offer to the world. Even though character is not measurable, everything I’ve done in high school so far has been to become a better person. I’ve never cheated or broken a rule in Cherokee, and I always try my best to make every club meeting that I have. In every class, especially my art classes, I’ve taken every bad grade and criticism from my teachers to heart to make improvements and I do the same when I realize that my actions or words aren’t helping someone. I’m by no means a perfect person with perfect character, but the hard work and dedication I’ve done to get where I am today is what should be valued by the National Honor
To possess an outstanding character is a National Honor Society expectation. I use my traits of optimism and determination to display my character. For me, my high school
It is on a personal note, that I believe that character is effected by one’s relationship with the other three core values. With the proper sense of scholarship in a person they would have the intelligence needed to get through life. The correct amount of leadership in a person they would have responsibility and the ability to take charge when necessary. Then with just the right sense of service they would be helpful and assist their community or others when they are in need of it. It is also my personal believe that I as a person do not have a perfect character but will always make an effort to have an exemplary
The National Honor Society definition of character illustrates that not only is it important for one to uphold the values of honesty, general regard for other, and kindness, but also it is imperative to retain these values in school, work, and personal life. It has been proven that what is done in each aspect can easily affect the other. In my opinion, a good character is one of the most important things one can possess
Many people have similar character traits and some may have completely different character traits than others. The only thing that makes each of the traits we possess individually different from other people is how we present them to the world we live in. Despite the idea of what others may perceive of you in the time being, your personality and the character traits that you obtain is only best understood when you truly reveal it to others. Showing your true character all the time creates a great deal of sacrifice when it comes to disregarding all insecurities that are being present.
This paper will highlight and reflect, on some of my nursing experiences working in the healthcare industry. However, I would like to state nurses in practice face a plethora of conflicts, ethical and moral stress. I reference more importantly ethical and moral stress, because each day a nurse clocks in to work, must diligently place duty and obligation as the driving force to care for patients. However, working within an organization, has many constraints that stem from policies and regulations, resulting in a system based on traditional values and beliefs. The systems found in the healthcare organizations are systems with departmental responsibility based on checks and balances that provides systems for responsibility and accountability. In observation and practice, I have discovered, that the systematic structures in place, are also necessary, to reinforce standards of care, quality assurance and safety of patient care. Any adverse conditions can result in costly fines and loss of licensure for the healthcare organization.
Why is character important? Why is it important to be a person of good morals, ethics, and character? Can that make you more productive in life, family, school, business, work, etc. ?
I am a person who likes to be given a job and left alone to do it. I do not always take the time to seek out others who can help me accomplish it. I am also a person who is somewhat an introvert so I feel like I am a bother to ask someone to help. I am sure they would help if I only took the time and effort to ask.
Leadership is an important factor within a business environment and often plays a significant role in achievement of organisational success (Landis, Hill & Harvey 2014). However, leadership is an art, therefore there is no simple formula for effective leadership (Hughes, Ginnett & Curphy 2015, p.33) and a leader’s effectiveness can often only be understood in the context of the leader-follower-situation interaction model.
Chapter sixteen discusses various leadership theories which can implemented by leaders to achieve success. The choice of leadership theory differs from leader to leader as they possess different vision and way of managing. A theory isn 't always perfect in itself, it is the endless effort of the leaders which makes the theory a perfect one. Two approaches of leadership that I prefer are Situational Leadership Theory and Servant Leadership Theory. Among many theories I prefer these two because I tend to practice those principles most of the time and I assume these are theories that I truly tend to continue in a long run.
Leadership is the tactics shown by an individual to lead an organization or a group of individuals. Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who do things right (Professor Warren G. Bennis). Leaders do right things and shows right path. They always motivate or guide others to follow this right path. They create inspiring vision to deliver something new.. They set direction, to win and steadily improve the present situation as a team by this new inspiring vision Various factors which contribute equally for the development of a good leader are personality , good communication, open mind to accept once weakness and vulnerability , motivation and inspiration from others, good team work balance of concern for oneself vs. others. This reflective assignment deals with psychodynamic approach to leadership and how to use psychology to improve efficiency. Psychodynamic approach raises the awareness of leaders and followers to their on personality types and the implications of this in their work culture
