In our career and even life itself, we find that we take certain habits and processes that once we did not have. Some of these are products of the influences other people have over us while others are discoveries from our own personal experiences and stabs in the dark. These are littered with successes but are primarily made up of failures. When something goes wrong for us or another and it could have been prevented by taking another course of action, we learn what not to do and what to do. Take Thomas Edison for example, the acclaimed inventor of the light bulb. Inventing a light bulb was not an easy task and, as can be expected, there were many failures. Nonetheless he believed that “I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Firstly, I will talk about the methods I have adopted in the industry in technical, managerial and creative fields explaining also where these came from in relation to theory, experience and other influences and any biases I may have, good or bad, due to these influences. Secondly, I will talk about the approaches I take to achieve the methods I have previously mentioned. These will include philosophies and theories based off who I am as a person as well as my beliefs. I will then reflect on the roots that these approaches came from and any biases they may have caused in my works. Finally, I will talk about any art forms, philosophies and other influences that have recently made an impact in the way that I work in the industry. I
When I look at the word failure I didn’t see success. But that slowly changed as I read the book What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain Chapter four. Bain, for me and I’m sure many other, have changed our view point on failure being a bad thing. He instead expressed failure as an “opportunity to learn something.” (121) As infants we grow and develop, we learn to walk by falling down a couple hundred times, and we learn to speak by babbling. By trying to walk, and trying to talk, we may fail at first. As an infant, you cannot give up when you are face to face with failure. You must get up and try again to learn. In the book, What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain he uses people’s experiences and research to explain why failure is an opportunity to learn something new, rather than seeing failure as something bad. He asserts “people who become highly creative and productive learn to acknowledge failures, even to embrace them, and to explore and learn from them.” (100) Failure is important. If we did not get up and try again as infants, we would not be where we are today.
Learning from failure is important to having a successful life. You have to figure out what works and what does not which requires some trial and error. Many famous entrepreneurs who have a successful career have experienced many failures in their lifetime. An example of
Using research and using already gained knowledge I will go though each of these topics individually.

Here in my essay, I will write through research and analysis about a specific subject
The first successful light bulb was invented by Thomas Edison in 1879, little did he know that his invention would change the world and still has affects to this day. There are many reasons why the light bulb was the best invention of the Industrial revolution, three reasons why are; it changed human existence by illuminating the night. Another one is that it helped improve economics by making days longer. The last one is it improved education, people began to read more and learning facilities had later classes. The light bulb was definitely not the only invention from the Industrial revolution but it was the one to have the biggest impact on society.
Everyone in their lifetime has heard the name Thomas Edison at least once. However, if you asked those same people why Thomas Edison was so famous, ninety percent of the time they would tell you it was because he invented the light bulb, and each of them would be completely wrong. Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb; in fact, someone had the idea for it almost one hundred years before Mr. Edison was even born. To “invent” something means to come up with the idea in the first place, as well as to actually carry it out.
Sometimes failures can force us on a path where we have to think outside the box – so start viewing them as an opportunity to try something new. It could be the path to success. An illustration is found behind
The Light Globe, since its early invention, has quickly become one of the basic essentials of the modern technological world we know of today. The multiple sources that are credited for the creation of this fundamental force have made a major breakthrough in the way we as humans perceive our society and how it works. Nowadays, we must acknowledge the basic element that is light, the agent that stimulates sight and allows visibility, and not take the invention of the light globe for granted. In this essay, I will be outlining the contributing factors such as the Inventors, When, Where and How the Light Globe was created, What problems this invention solved and the Impacts on the Economy, the people living throughout the Industrial Revolution, the Impacts on the existing industries and the long term effects of the invention of the Light Globe.
As I discussed earlier in my writtings, I think that failure cannot be avoided and we are presented with failures to gain an opportunity to learn. Failures will be an aspect at some point professionally and or personally so that we can grow and develop as
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time”. This was a quote said by Thomas Edison who was a great inventor and inspired many. The light bulb was one of his many inventions that have revolutionized the world, because it has changed many lifestyles.
Can you ever imagine a world without light bulb? Before light bulb was created, the night can only be lit by the moon and stars. People working and traveling after sunset could only use candles or oil lamps, which caused many inconveniences. Without any bright light, moving inside your own house even seemed dangerous. However, things changed after the ambitious inventors brought their bright idea, which was to light the world, to life. The invention and the commercialization of light bulb not only changed the way people live, but also became a technological breakthrough for future energy use in our daily lives.
Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to reassess one’s position in wanting to achieve the particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and the whether the obstacles are surmountable.
Many centuries ago people did not need much energy. Back then, people used the sun or burned wood and straw for heat. People used the wind force in sails or horses to go anywhere in the world and used animals to do the work humans could not do. Although, humans did use simple machines that could ground grain, pump water, and even utilize steam power. Steam engines transformed over time and by the 18th century the modern steam engine, fueled by coal, could do the job of a team of horses. Since steam engines were much more favorable compared to air and wind power, steam engines were used to power factories and coal was used to heat up buildings.
