Is Trump Right To Repeal DACA? The United States of America was founded by immigrants, and immigrants have made it what it is today. Recently the question, “ Is it right for President Trump to repeal DACA?” has come up. Everyone has shown that this is now an easy decision because on one side we have these children so scared of leaving the United states and being sent to a country they do not know. On the other side these children were brought over illegally. So the answer to this question is no, it is not right for Trump to send these people back. First, America is there home. Second, over a billion dollars a year would be lost due to the money the Dreamers would not be paying

Congress, in 2001, decides to deal with the children instead of continually dealing with the parents. This is when the dreamers act came to be. The Dream act was co signed and brought up by Orin Hatch and Dick Durbin. DREAM stands for Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors.
This was made because they felt as these kids were brought here without their say they shouldn’t be affected badly. This is the only country that they really know and that they are familiar with so this is their home. But sadly congress did not go for it. They did not pass it. Obama did not like what he saw when they did not pass this act. He did not want to see these kids left in the dark he did not want to see them become something other than their best selves so on June 15, 2012 President Obama creates DACA. Now we can answer the big question people have been asking is “What is DACA?” DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. This allowed some people who came into the United states as minors, who came in illegally and remained in the United States received a renewed two year period of “deferred action”. They are able to work with a work permit and they are able to go to school as well. And this policy was made in 2012. The immigrants were only eligible if they came into the United States at or under the age of sixteen. Some criteria that had to be fulfilled for a person to qualify for DACA are: entering the United States with a non
After the Trump Administration announced the end to an executive branch program that has protected up to 800,000 undocumented immigrants since 2012, Democrats and Republicans have introduced several bills in Congress, each of which would provide a path to documented and legal residence. The legislation, Dream Act of 2017, primarily supported by Democrats is called the Dream Act, an acronym for Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors
America has long since been hailed the “Great Melting Pot” where people from all over the world, with differing ideologies, cultures, and languages all come together to seek a better life for themselves. Now more than ever, hundreds of thousands of people are pouring into this country, seeking better lives, and if they are actively contributing to society, who are we to say they can't stay, in a country founded by immigrants. According to The Center for American Progress, “Unless we act now to preserve the DACA program, all 780,000 hard working young people will lose their ability to work legally in this country, and every one of them will be at immediate risk of deportation. Our economy would lose $460.3 billion from the national GDP and $24.6 billion in Social Security and Medicare tax contributions.” This colossal loss to the economy could be easily averted. Immigrants provide so much for this country already, and deporting nearly 800,000 people, on top of being enormously expensive, does nothing but hurt our own economy and small business across the country. In addition to slowing down our own economy, we would be causing harm to innocent people just trying to support themselves and
According to Bray (2016), DACA is not sufficient in quantity and quality to meet the demands of every immigrant. Although the act has benefitted countless undocumented immigrants, it does not provide a stable future because it only allows “children that were brought to the U.S. who meet other requirements to apply for two years from deportation (removal), as well a work permit” (294). Nonetheless, the act does not offer long term benefits and like many social policies, it has strict requirements such as; age, education, continuous residence in the U.S. since
To fully grasp the concept of its benefits, one must understand: What is DACA? DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and is a three year security from deportation. The program was set in motion in 2012 by President Barack Obama when he signed it on as an executive order. DACA allows undocumented workers, known as Dreamers, to work towards achieving a
On June 15, 2012 President Obama put in an executive order called DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) which cancelled or delayed any form of punishment to these migrants from deportation of their children if their
About half a million children are born to undocumented immigrants every year. These children are not given the opportunities that they so rightly deserve. They spend their entire lives in the United States and are considered illegal immigrants. They are given no choice, but to live their life as an undocumented immigrant. That is what the DREAM Act is trying to solve. The DREAM Act, or Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors is a proposal that would provide permanent residency to undocumented immigrants who meet certain eligibility requirements (The DREAM Act). If the DREAM Act is approved, then the education will be improved. It will improve the economy, the military will receive a significant increase in recruitments, and
The public engagement of the white House posted on their web 10 reasons why they needed the Dream Act. Summarizing argument's that two secretaries including other people have made for the act. The dream act will help our economy marketing easier for immigration enforcements efforts on undocumented immigrants "Who pose a threat to our country" (Zehr, 2010,). The development relief and education for aliens minors act or dream act provide a path for legalization for undocumented high school graduates who meet the requirements of completing two years of college, military service, have entered United States before the age of 16, must be between the age of 12 and 35 to complete the application, good moral character, and no criminal record. If the congress passed the dream act it would add $329 billion to U.S. economy impacting it by $181 billion creating 1.4 million new jobs and more than $10 billion increase revenue by 2030. Many Dream Act opponents call it an immigration amnesty. They say the proposal would immediately reward immigrant children with conditional lawful permanent resident status – and, in just a few years, they would become U.S. Citizens. Their criticisms do not reflect how immigration agencies operate immigration reform will be addressed by the Obama administration this year. Republican senators they were ready to announce the outline of a broad immigration reform bill that would include a path to “earned legalization”
Daca enables young people to follow their dreams and with trump trying to cancel daca it has devastated the nation, yet he says we have 6 months till Congress makes a decision on either to legalize Daca, or to cancel it , it should not have to be a decision to make.So many children and teenagers are getting their lives torn apart, all accomplishments and achievements, all their effort they put into their lives, jobs and education, would be for nothing. He's taking jobs and educational opportunities away from innocent people who are the ones that are “making america great” again, then the ones that are living in america, not even taking advantage of the opportunities they are given in this country. Most teens who do have the opportunity to get a good education and a good job, usually end up taking it for granted, they don't appreciate what they have, and don't see what others would do to have what they have.
DACA was created by the Obama administration in June of 2012 with the vision to relief deportation and giving protection to foreign minors who entered the country illegally so that they could stay, work and get education without being deported to their country of origin. DACA has been entitling to controversy and uncertainty since the Trump administration because this action provides the recipients the opportunity to receive a two year renewable deferral of deportation, a work permit and benefits provided by the government. This action has been rescind by the President Donald Trump on September of 2017; more than 800,000 recipients (known as DREAMers) are left with concerns, worriers and fears of being deported to their country of birth because their families, education, friends and life is here in The United States.
Development, Relief & Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act. It still has yet to be passed and
The DACA program was created by the Obama Administration back in 2012. DACA is an acronym for Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals. The purpose
The Dream Act Immigrants make the choice to up and leave their not so great home to come to The United States of America for many beneficial reasons. Whether it’s to live in freedom, escape poverty or oppression, religious freedom, or just to provide a better life for their family. There is about seven million unauthorized immigrants who is currently living in America as of January 2000 according to the Migration Policy Institute. In 2001, the Dream Act, also known as the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act was introduced to the United States as a bill in Congress that would have granted legal status to certain undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and spent all of their childhood here.
Background Information: President Barack Obama created DACA through a 2012 executive order. The program has allowed hundreds of thousands of young people who were brought to the United States illegally as children to remain in the country. People who apply for the program can not have major criminal histories, and must have arrived in the U.S. before 2007, when they were under the age of 16. DACA recipients can live and work legally in the U.S. for renewable two-year periods. DACA was a agreement created by the Obama administration after Congress failed to approve the Dream Act. Experts estimate that about 11.5 million residents in the United States are unauthorized immigrants
The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors is a proposal that has given many undocumented immigrants in the United States a process that has granted a conditional residency and eventually a full time residency (Kenny). Undocumented immigrants that are eligible for the DREAM Act must have been in the U.S. before the age of sixteen, with further proof of attending some type of schooling (Kenny). The act has been an occurring issue that has been repealed and appealed many times since it first appeared in 2001. The bill has come a long way since 2001, for example, there are many other programs such as the DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. These programs give more rights and opportunities for undocumented immigrants that are attending school. By 2010 the DREAM Act was at a stalemate, which meant that legislators in the senate were considering to have it
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program (DACA) has helped stimulate the United States financially; by canceling it the Trump Administration has doomed our economy. Lawmakers have quite a task ahead of them as they try to traverse the tumultuous territory that is the DACA cancelation. However, one of the largest, if not the largest, problems that this move has created is the threat it poses to the nation’s economy. Bombastically, the Trump Administration made a move that seemed to be supported by its followers. Yet, further analysis of the cancelation seems to greatly cripple the United States, estimating that the nation stands to lose $215 billion if the former DACA recipients are deported.
