Have you ever used online learning to achieve your potential and realize your own capacities?
There have been many opportunities for me to learn online in the past. In undergraduate school I had the opportunity to work on a project with a with a group of students. Throughout this time, I learned about the challenges that can occur when gathering information for a project. For instance, someone may be active duty in the military and not have the time to provide their portion of work that is required for a project. As a result a discussion with the instructor may be needed in order to explain the circumstances.
Within the course, I had the opportunity to participate in synchronous learning as well. We had meetings twice a week online via Blackboard. I was able to learn about how to communicate with classmates effectively; this process required being able to follow the live streams of both the instructor and the multiple other students in the class. Admittedly, it was difficult to keep up at times and still respond to the topic of discussion. However, through practice, I was able to learn how to craft my responses faster and skim through the responses of others more comfortably.
Additionally, the Staff Development and Training course which I took in person at TC still required students to conduct an online class. That was a learning experience as well. The team which I was a part of endured the challenge of at first attempting to use Blackboard chatting option but after a

If you have the drive to succeed, you can get just as much out of the online education as you can from a normal classroom.
Many students have a difficult time choosing between online education and traditional education. Both styles of education offer advantages and disadvantages to the student. There are many things to consider when making this life altering decision, such as, cost, convenience, time, social interaction, and technology. This information is meant to inform prospective students looking to further their education of the pros and cons of both online education and traditional education. Taking the steps to further your education is a big decision and one that should not be taken lightly. One should weigh all of his/her options and be well informed and certain of their choice before taking that leap.

Most individuals are finding the online world flexible and convenient, and accurately matching their objectives and busy kind of lives. Then, teachers must reach goals using diverse methods and techniques which engage the student and make the learning process interesting. Though methods vary, a problem or task centered approach is generally considered superior to a subject matter approach. Students and professors may work together to co-create knowledge. Work in teams is an often used strategy because it replicates the experiences of nontraditional students in the workplace. Additionally, teachers work to reduce time and place restrictions for the nontraditional student that would limit that person’s access to course materials and assignments; asynchronous online options easily break down such barriers.
Throughout the duration of this unit, my use of online information has expanded from being a consumer of information, to now understanding how to critically evaluate online sources for credibility and suitability during my academic studies. During the process of producing an online informational resource, I have enhance my knowledge by the use of weekly learning materials and readings, and the collaborative process that was involved during the teamwork experience. Receiving an education via an online course is one that has begun with many challenges. I have come from having no knowledge of researching information to feel like I have journeyed a long way finding the confidence to research pertinent and quality resources. Through this particular unit I have been given the implements to develop a sound knowledge of online group collaborations and the programs to allow the communication to take place.
My first experience with a course conducted completely using computer-based instruction as an adult learner occurred during the fall semester of 2007. I was nearing the completion of my first Master’s degree and enrolled in ED500A, which was an educational research class. Although I had extensive experience utilizing technology and the Internet, and had dabbled in CBI, this course was conducted entirely online and proved to be challenging for me. However, advocates of classroom learning believe the online method isolates the students from one another as well as their professor minimizing the overall value of taking the course. They also claim that students learn better when working together with their instructor and their fellow classmates. Students learn better when they are given the opportunity to ask questions, join in class discussions, and they move the process of learning forward through their participation. Learning is more than just receiving information. Traditionally learning was to be in campus, where students would interact with one a another, there were no other ways for learners to get educated beside going to the classroom and listening to the instructor. Nowadays the Internet has brought different ways for people to receive information, such as getting education and degrees online. There is a lot of poor communication in online classes. There will be students who will never email the instructors for more details about an assignments, or, there will be older students who don’t know how to email the instructors for more details. If the student doesn’t understand an assignment, and never emails to ask for more details, can result in a poor grade for the lack of knowledge in knowing what they’re doing. There’s one final drawback to not having social interactions with instructors; Students can potentially miss out on building relationships that can result in helpful guidance and recommendation letters down the road when needed.
Technology is changing every aspect in our lives, even the way we learn. Online classes are a rapidly growing trend it today’s society. Online classes are a cost-effective substitute for traditional courses and more convenient for many, so more schools and universities are offering this option. Due to the increase in online course enrollment, people are questioning if students truly learn something from online classes because it’s not a traditional learning environment. Online classes are just, if not more, effective as traditional classes because grades have increased and online discussions provide students with the chance to interact through networking while earning a degree for less than what it would cost to enroll at the same university.
