Is The American Dream Still True

Is the America still provide access to the American Dream. American Dream is the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American. I think it still provide access to the American Dream because I think it has many kind of American Dream has now.

"I think the American Dream says that anything can happen if you work hard enough at it and are persistent, and have some ability. The sky is the limit to what you can build, and what can happen to you and your family" expressed Sanford I. Weill. The American Dream is still alive and obtainable. Many people have a definition of what the American Dream that is obtainable in their minds. People all have unique individual lives.

Dreams are merely your own fantasies living within your mind. The American Dream is anything you believe it to be, all depending on each individual's mentality. If there was a better way of saying this, it would be like this: “Never let it be said that to dream is a waste of one’s time, for dreams are our realities in waiting. In dreams, we plant the seeds of our future” (unknown). The American Dream is a misconception for the ways that society has portrayed it to be. As how society paints a portrait in the minds of people, that America is only about freedom and equality where life comes easier than it does in other countries. Being equal means that we all have that opportunity to succeed, it doesn 't mean that we all have the same things. Some people will work much harder to succeed, they should have more than people who don 't want to work to succeed.The American Dream is that every United States citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, initiative, and happiness. But many wonder if it is still alive today. Many studies have proven that the American dream is still alive today. The American Dream still exists because the unemployment ratio has decreased , the salary for the jobs has increased, and people have freedom.

The American Dream as it is defined cannot simply hold true without preservation of it’s ideals. An ideal is maintained by the people. Enjoying the benefits the American Dream promises requires each person to uphold its ideals among his fellows. If this were the case, the original definition might have been preserved. The problem is that other factors kicked in which prioritized wealth and status among people which interfered with the ability of others to pursue the dream. From there, the American Dream gradually changed from hard work to status.

As citizens of America, we all work towards acquiring one thing: The American Dream. The American Dream is something that most citizens of America try their hardest to attain at least some point in their life time. This dream may include but is not limited to, wanting to reach a certain social class, having a safe country with strong military forces, and also wanting to “fit in”, or to find his or her’s place in life. Also, this dream may or may not look similar to the American dream you want to inquire. While most of us desire to attain most of the things listed above, some of us always dream of having a nation where the color of your skin and social standards do not define who you are as a person. However, while citizens may want these things, not all of America may agree with each other. A question that has merged into our minds is, “ is the American dream attainable?”

The American dream can be one of the most possible things to have EVER been possible. Us as people must realize what we can work with. We can eventually become one of the world’s greatest countries to live in. If anything, we are already acceding a point in potential to became THE greatest county to ever live in. We have some amazing people that can do some amazing stuff for our country. Other countries might be thinking the same exact thing for their country, but I strongly think that anyone can do anything in the USA. So much opportunities to take in this country, but us humans are being put down for our hopes and dreams by other people. Does America still provide the American Dream? It does, after reading the three poems I have, learned that America does still provide access to the American Dream. And is alive, the examples I will give you, shows how alive the dream is in America. To me the American Dream is something in the past, and it no longer applies to the present American society. The American Dream fueled our nation from the beginning. The American dream was in the mind of immigrants coming to America in search of a new and better life, a new beginning where you can start fresh and reinvent yourself and become successful. But now the Dream no longer exist in our nation, but it still exists in the mind of immigrants. America was a place where immigrants came to seek a brighter future not only for themselves but also for their children. The dream is still believed to exist by immigrants but their expectations are not met once they arrive here in the United States. The land of opportunity for everyone is now the land with opportunity for the few. So I personally do not believe that the “American Dream” still exists in this country, it is just a memory now.

Most American’s work towards the American dream. This great idea that we can work hard, land our dream job, get married and start a family. Can the American dream still happen if you’re homosexual? Does that even exist? Now I can look back and reflect on the way I questioned myself, my experience and the values that I still hold.

In my opinion, America does not provide access to the American dream as originally intended. The American Dream was the belief that hard-working citizens could better their lives, provide a better life for their children, and save enough money to live comfortably after they retire. Some would argue that the American dream is still accessible, however, evidence shows that Americans are struggling financially and not quite receiving the opportunities and access to reaching that “American Dream”. Is the American Dream still achievable? Yes, the American Dream is achievable as long as you figure out what your dream is. Reaching the American Dream is hard. You have to work for what you want but you should follow your American Dream. Following your American Dream is achievable and worth it but once you commit you can’t give up.

You’re walking into your local gas station and you get your daily amenities. You pay for your soda and candy, although as you’re leaving the gas station you notice a piece of paper on the ground. You reach to pick up the paper and it’s a lottery ticket. Later that night as you watch your TV to see if you have the winning numbers, you hear the numbers and...YOU WON. As your cheerfully jumping until you hear this ringing noise. The more time that passes the louder the noise gets. Suddenly, as your eyes open your mom is calling your name. She says it’s time to wake up and you’re disappointed as you realize it was just a dream. What is a dream anyways? A dream is anything you aspired or hope to become within a specified time limit. With the steadily increase of technological advances in today’s society the competition and drive for achieving dreams are steadily declining. Thus leading to the question whether the American Dream is alive or dead. Although before this question can be answered you must know what the American dream is. It was once said by Tommy Hilfiger, “The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it's possible to achieve the American dream”. However, some believe that the American Dream is unachievable but this is not the case. If the American Dream were to be described as a painted picture it would have the American flag wrapped around Miss Liberty as a blanket as she held a seed at the palm of her hands. The flag would represent the freedom America offers. Then, would be Miss Liberty, who holds the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by one's way of life, behavior, or radical opinions. Many years ago today, the United States of America was the prime example of prosperity and opportunity. It established America with the idea that its citizens would be guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Today, it is true that people have liberties and are free to pursue happiness. However, in recent years, in the worst recession since the Great Depression. Unemployment, growing economy inequality, and medical care have skyrocketed. Despite the odds, the American Dream is still a goal that many people strive for and hope to reach. In fact, an essay written by Brandon King, The American Dream: Dead, Alive or on Hold? He says, “the American dream is a dream in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with the opportunity for each according to his/her ability and achievement…” (King 610-611). Therefore, the problem with the American Dream lies not within the dream itself, but within the means people pursue to attain this dream.
