Is The American Dream Still True

The American Dream is something everyone pursues. However, over time, the ideas of the American Dream has changed. Some say it is for the better, but others say it is for the worse. I agree with what Bernie Sanders said, "For many, the American Dream has become a nightmare." The American Dream has been degraded throughout time. I believe the American Dream has changed for the worse due to difficulty finding jobs, unfair job opportunities, and people settling for mediocrity.

“When I asked my dad why he brought us here,he always answered, “For a better opportunity of course!”(Miglani 1). This quote about the American Dream gives the most accurate definition for the American Dream. Throughout the readings, there many ideas that were trying to come around, but the one thing that stood out is love for America. The authors of these articles teaches the reader that many people come to America because it a way for those to fit in, which in that case causes the love for America.

Does America still provide the American Dream? It does, after reading the three poems I have, learned that America does still provide access to the American Dream. And is alive, the examples I will give you, shows how alive the dream is in America. Introducing the first example I read, is the poem called "Ellis Island" the author Joseph Bruchac, you'll find that he's an American writer with both European immigrant ancestors and Native American, The speaker of this poem is not an immigrant just arriving in the United States. He's the grandson of immigrants who came to the U.S. almost a century ago. He rejoices for the Slovak immigrants who found new opportunities in the U.S., but for the ancestors who were here before the Europeans, the American

"I think the American Dream says that anything can happen if you work hard enough at it and are persistent, and have some ability. The sky is the limit to what you can build, and what can happen to you and your family" expressed Sanford I. Weill. The American Dream is still alive and obtainable. Many people have a definition of what the American Dream that is obtainable in their minds. People all have unique individual lives.

The American Dream is still very true. That's only if this country can make it happen. Our country needs be to all about motivation, and completing your job, and doing what you are supposed to do. You don't really need anything like money to have an American Dream. Just doing what you believe in can make your American Dream. The American Dream is about freedom, hard working, money. You have to work for your American Dream. In the document “The Declaration of Independance” , and the article “The Right to Fail” , and the poem “Who Burns for the Perfection of Paper”. I'm using these stories to back my argument.

Nowadays, a large number of people migrate to the United States to work and achieve the American Dream. According to the Article “What is the American Dream?” by Kimberly Amadeo, “The American Dream was first publicly defined in 1931 by James Truslow Adams in Epic of America. Adam’s often-repeated quote is, ‘The American Dream is that dream of land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.’” There are many people that can have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of the American dream. Even though many people assume the American Dream is dead, it is a very controversial topic. The American Dream may have many different points of views, but it really does exist, after all, it takes an ambitious person to strive for success through hard work, dedication and determination.

The American dream can be one of the most possible things to have EVER been possible. Us as people must realize what we can work with. We can eventually become one of the world’s greatest countries to live in. If anything, we are already acceding a point in potential to became THE greatest county to ever live in. We have some amazing people that can do some amazing stuff for our country. Other countries might be thinking the same exact thing for their country, but I strongly think that anyone can do anything in the USA. So much opportunities to take in this country, but us humans are being put down for our hopes and dreams by other people. Sometimes it isn’t fair for certain people, they just don’t realize the type of impact that we can all

To me the American Dream is something in the past, and it no longer applies to the present American society. The American Dream fueled our nation from the beginning. The American dream was in the mind of immigrants coming to America in search of a new and better life, a new beginning where you can start fresh and reinvent yourself and become successful. But now the Dream no longer exist in our nation, but it still exists in the mind of immigrants. America was a place where immigrants came to seek a brighter future not only for themselves but also for their children. The dream is still believed to exist by immigrants but their expectations are not met once they arrive here in the United States. The land of opportunity for everyone is now the land with opportunity for the few. So I personally do not believe that the “American Dream” still exists in this country, it is just a memory now.

James Truslow Adams, the man who gave birth to the idea of The American Dream, states that The American Dream, “Is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement, regardless of social class or circumstances of birth” (King 610). Some people argue that The American Dream died as an effect of the Great Recession, and some believe that it is very much alive. In my opinion, The American Dream still exists, but has not been relevant in the past years. The American Dream can be brought back to its former glory with the right actions.

As citizens of America, we all work towards acquiring one thing: The American Dream. The American Dream is something that most citizens of America try their hardest to attain at least some point in their life time. This dream may include but is not limited to, wanting to reach a certain social class, having a safe country with strong military forces, and also wanting to “fit in”, or to find his or her’s place in life. Also, this dream may or may not look similar to the American dream you want to inquire. While most of us desire to attain most of the things listed above, some of us always dream of having a nation where the color of your skin and social standards do not define who you are as a person. However, while citizens may want these things, not all of America may agree with each other. A question that has merged into our minds is, “ is the American dream attainable?”

Many years ago today, the United States of America was the prime example of prosperity and opportunity. It established America with the idea that its citizens would be guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Today, it is true that people have liberties and are free to pursue happiness. However, in recent years, in the worst recession since the Great Depression. Unemployment, growing economy inequality, and medical care have skyrocketed. Despite the odds, the American Dream is still a goal that many people strive for and hope to reach. In fact, an essay written by Brandon King, The American Dream: Dead, Alive or on Hold? He says, “the American dream is a dream in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with the opportunity for each according to his/her ability and achievement…” (King 610-611). Therefore, the problem with the American Dream lies not within the dream itself, but within the means people pursue to attain this dream.

The American Dream is the result of possibilities and success. The term “American Dream” was been invented by James Truslow Adams in 1931: “That dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for every man, with opportunity for each according to his ability or achievement.” Another reference to the American Dream appears in the Declaration of Independence (1776). The author wrote that people are “endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The question of the debate was: “Is the American Dream Still Alive and Well?”

The American Dream as it is defined cannot simply hold true without preservation of it’s ideals. An ideal is maintained by the people. Enjoying the benefits the American Dream promises requires each person to uphold its ideals among his fellows. If this were the case, the original definition might have been preserved. The problem is that other factors kicked in which prioritized wealth and status among people which interfered with the ability of others to pursue the dream. From there, the American Dream gradually changed from hard work to status.

The "American Dream" is an idea that has always been different throughouttime. It changes in diverse forms and in the end involves success. The "American Dream" was a phrase used by the American people and peoplewanting to become American. It was always the idea that you can become a success. This is true in a partial way, but the true "American Dream" is that with somework and determination anyone can build themselves up in the economic classsystem.

Being equal means that we all have that opportunity to succeed, it doesn 't mean that we all have the same things. Some people will work much harder to succeed, they should have more than people who don 't want to work to succeed.The American Dream is that every United States citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, initiative, and happiness. But many wonder if it is still alive today. Many studies have proven that the American dream is still alive today. The American Dream still exists because the unemployment ratio has decreased , the salary for the jobs has increased, and people have freedom.
