It is essential for businesses to plan out every aspect of their corporation. Whether it is planning their schedules for who is coming in for the day or planning out ways of bettering the company, planning is a great tool for management to use to get tasks accomplished. In order to understand the importance of planning, a manager was interviewed about their company and how planning applies to their company. To get an even greater understanding of planning in the work force, an HR manager was interviewed. The first question that was asked was, "How do you determine what labor supply is needed?" He replied with, "Sales dollars are converted to hours of work which is put into a formula to calculate efficiency and availability to calculate the number of employees needed to produce the sales dollars." The second question was, "What is the plan for developing the existing talent for the growth of the company?" He answered, "We rely on our management team to identify employees who have the desire to grow and meet with them to develop a plan to get them where they want to go or we develop an alternative that better meets their needs or our business needs. We are in the process of making this plan more formal as today it is very informal and truly driven by the managers. That makes it very inconsistent and causes employees to feel at times that they are not valued or have no place to grow." The next question that was asked was, "Is there a consistent time when the need for labor increases? For example, staffing increase for retail at the holidays. If this is the case, how quickly does the buildup happen?" Chuck Noll admitted, "We tend to see a build up between June and October. We can generally see 6 weeks out and can attempt to fill positions to meet the need." The next question that he was asked was, "Are there any specialized jobs within the company that require a unique skill set?" He stated, "Yes, we have 3 groups that I would call

Following this, actions can be delegated to team members and responsibility can be shared to ensure the best service is achieved.
