Primarily, I am applying to the Communications program because I want to make films and Ithaca College is one of the best film schools in the country. I would also like to study business, to learn how to manage, market and support my filmmaking. Ithaca offers this opportunity, as well as an environment where I can also study the humanities and sciences.
When applying to colleges, everyone has a goal in their mind that they are looking forward to accomplishing. I also have an aim and plan which I want to execute in the best way possible. The first and most crucial thing that holds immense importance in fulfilling your dream is the college one chooses to go to. I chose Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) for many reasons, Starting off by mentioning the wide variety of business and marketing programs they provide. Moreover, the community of the college is known to be one of the best in New York, with a beautiful campus and especially for me, the commute is a great steal. While applying to colleges, FIT caught my attention the most. This was the only college, whom I see myself graduating from in four years with my dream of a bachelor degree in marketing. The reason why I chose marketing is that I have always been a social person who loves talking and most importantly I am an extremely organized person who knows how to perform her tasks very well. So that is why I see myself working as a marketing manager for big companies like Google and Apple.
Before I answer the questions posed, I believe an explanation is owed regarding this request for admission into Saybrook. I originally applied to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology seeking a degree in business psychology. Since the program was not ready to start for another year, it was suggested that I take courses in the international psychology program. I thoroughly enjoyed this new experience with an opportunity to “think global”. I optioned to remain in this program with a concentration in organizations and systems. As I sojourned through, I was always aware that there was still something missing. Although I loved being part of the IP program, my roots are deeply entrenched in the world of organizational development (OD).
A Master of Arts in Communication, with a concentration in New Media and Marketing, is my next rung. In searching many graduate programs, this combined the use of some existing skills and those I believe I have potential. Part of the seven core courses include:
Personal Insight Question: Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university.
Attending Kennesaw State University has been a very rewarding journey. As a current senior in college, I have been given the chance to experience the University environment. An environment full of my interaction with my fellow classmates working in study groups and tutoring sessions. Also having the option to sit in on my professor's 2nd lecture that you did not understand fully during your class period.
It is without a doubt, attending Rutgers University brings prestige to your name, and distinguishes you from the competition. With over two hundred and fifty years of rich history, Rutgers has been proudly represented by alumni as they continue into their career paths. Dating back to 1766 when Rutgers was first established, notable Rutgers alumni through the years have ranged from politicians such as Elizabeth Warren or Chris Christie to businessmen like David Stern, or even athletes such as Carli Lloyd. It is without a doubt, that Rutgers provides exceptional education as seen through what these alumni have been able to achieve. It is due to the combination of history and high level of education that I believe will help me achieve my career goals.
Through my undergraduate studies in fine and performing arts at James Madison University and my professional theatre experiences, I have built a foundation as a theatre practitioner that includes analyzing scripts, and communicating through drawing and drafting, and have taken advantage of as many opportunities as possible. By attending the Yale School of Drama Graduate Design Program, I will develop my process for formulating ideas and gain more specialized knowledge in scenic design.
My curiosity is insatiable. My mom claims that once I was a few months old, I was never satisfied unless I was completely engaged in learning. Not much has changed in the past 18 years as I have spent my life in the pursuit of knowledge. For me, learning has always been about achieving a greater understanding of the world (from the life of Elizabeth II to the neurobiology of junk food addiction) and using that understanding to try to find my place. I believe that UChicago’s philosophy about learning—which prioritizes learning how to think, challenging assumptions, and enriching the world with knowledge—aligns perfectly with my own.
Andrew Largeman's (Zack Braff) journey throughout "Garden State" seems to be a testament on the meaning of liberation. Going from his struggling acting life in Los Angeles to his hometown in New Jersey, where he witnesses his mother's funeral, Andrew is in the mist of confronting difficult issues. One of the biggest issues is coming to terms with his psychologist father (Ian Holm), whom he has distanced himself from for many years because he has put him on powerful antidepressants for most of his life. The reason for this I will not reveal but it has caused Andrew to feel as if his father has controlled his life in a way.
I am from the Williamsville and am a product of the exceptional education provided by Williamsville Schools. I attended the Williamsville schools from Kindergarten to Grade 12. I admire the academic excellence of New York Education and I especially admire the Williamsville Central School District. It would be an honor to teach your students. I admire a district that maintains high educational standards and provides students with opportunities to meet academic and emotional needs.
What is Ithaca, metaphorically? Ithaca in that context, will evaluate to many definitions; one of these definitions is that the journey you take has more value than the destination. Many people will succumb to this journey, physically or mentally, this journey can take years to decades to complete for some people, but some people may never complete this journey. These journeys are different from person to person. My personal Ithaca is finding something that makes me happy, that I can sustain a life off of. I doesn’t matter what I do, how many things I do, where I live, who I meet, who I marry; none of that matters if your not happy. Because you should always put your happiness over others, because you are not them, you are you; and you should
When I was younger my mother would say that I spoke with a New Yorker accent. Words would fly out of my mouth a mile a minute, but others couldn’t me. I had a speech problem for sure, I wasn’t able to pronounce my r’s. As hard as I tried they would turn into w’s as soon as they left my mouth. I was a late bloomer as a child, I didn’t start walking till I was 14 months and I wasn’t truly speaking until I was around 2 1/2 years old. My older siblings spoke for me, so there was no reason for me to talk to my parents or others at such a young age. The affects of me inability to speak correctly didn’t hit until I was in first grade. My teacher said it inhibited my ability to fully grasp onto the curriculum. I didn’t believe that, I just thought she didn’t want to listen to me talk and that sh wouldn’t be able to understand when I answered or asked questions in class. Not only that but I wasn’t able to make that many friends because this and would get taunted and teased. At this point I realised that speaking clearly was my Ithaca and the journey that endures of my speech problem, was Odysseus’ long twenty years home.
There are two reasons why I am applying to Hofstra. The location is beautiful and the educational experience is amazing. My family lives in New York so I have spent a lot of time there and one of my favorite places to go is Manhattan. I love the city life and there are so many things to do in Manhattan that are interesting and educational. The engineering program has been highly recommended to me. I am extremely interested in and excited about the co-op program which should help me with my professional development. I feel this university can help me utilize and improve my skills and prepare me for the future beyond college. With the combination of education, co-op and location, the university has so much to offer and so many things that I
As a child, I ate bitter watermelon seeds, hoping melons would thrive inside my stomach if I just consumed enough handfuls of dirt to keep them alive. Distressed by my new diet, my father handed me a shovel & I began digging holes in my backyard. Every Sunday afternoon since, I find solace in the community garden where I escape the burdens of college applications, spend time with my family, & relax. Through gardening, I understood the necessity to reduce deleterious carbon emissions & embrace environmental sustainability. At Cornell, I intend to study environmental chemistry to combat climate change & secure a better, pollution free future for my plants.
