Everyday a different crime is committed; however, the reason or motive behind it is not always understood. Over the years, theories were developed to explain why certain crime occurs. For example, Andrea Yates was a mother of 5 who drowned her children due to a mental illness she endured, but there are many theories that play a vital role in explaining why she committed this crime. The theories that will be discussed throughout this paper are the Biosocial Trait Theory and the General Strain Theory.

Why do certain people rule over what each child can and cannot read? Is that not the parents’ job to determine whether or not is it appropriate for their child? When a book is considered banned, parents, teachers, and librarians are discouraged from providing the book to their children. Many of these adults then disapprove of the book without even reading it. Junie B. Jones is thrown from the realm of possibility for many children just because the loveable character has some flaws.

On June 20, 2001 a woman by the name of Andrea Yates, stunned the whole country with one of the most bizarre acts of violence that a parents could ever do to their own children. She called her husband at work and told him “I did it” confused by what was going on, he rush home only to find his house filled with officers of the law. The husband asked, “What is going on?”, and only to found out that his wife had drowned all five of their children.

Janie Porter Barrett (1865-1948) was born the daughter of a former slave, Julia Porter. Her father’s identity is unknown, however some believe he was Caucasian due to her light skin tone. Barrett was raised in the home of the Skinner family in Macon, GA, for whom her mother worked as a live-in housekeeper. The Skinners educated Barrett alongside their own children, an unusual occurrence at that time. Barrett’s mother eventually married and moved away from the Skinner home, but Barrett remained.

Andrea Yates was born on July 2, 1964 in Houston, Texas. She was the youngest of five children and grew up in a Catholic household. She graduated from Milby High School in 1982. Yates was involved in many extracurricular activities including the swim team and the National Honor Society. Yates had a seemingly typical childhood and life thereafter that. After high school she continued her education at the University of Houston. She was enrolled in a pre-nursing program and later went on to graduate from the University of Texas School of Nursing. Today was James and Luke’s birthday. They have the same birthday, but James turned seven and Luke turned four. For James’ birthday he got two cows. He named them Sam and Anna. They are both girls and are already getting along with Diana, Peter, and Noah. Have you ever heard about the Kathryn Adam murder? Well if you haven't it’s okay because I will tell you about it right now. Kathryn adam was a young woman working for a company named L’eggs and she delivered boxes of stuff to different places. Some people say that she committed suicide and others say that she was murdered and taken somewhere that nobody knows. Her doughter was the one that reported her missing because she didn’t come home for two days. In the case of Kathryn Adam, know one really knows what happened to Kathryn on the night of April 23rd 1993, I know that when she went missing her L’eggs van was parked outside an abandoned restaurant.

So you see, pictures, even in books help minds to develop each time you take a glance at them. You gain that freedom in your mind and can grow and expand to photography, galleries, museums, and even creations of your own personal art... the possibilities seem endless. Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type” by Doreen Cronin talks about cows and chickens that negotiate to get electric blankets. Even though this is a book intended for children’s entertainment it is believed that there is a deeper meaning than what is superficially understood by the reader. In a reader’s perspective, the farmer represents the authority and the cows and chicken represent workers. Just like the animals, the workers do not have a voice. Thus, once the cows and chickens find the old typewriter in the farm they see it as a way of speaking and a way to gain the empowerment that they have been lacking for a while. This can be seen when the cows first leave a note to protest, when the cows decide to include the hens, and when the hens decide

The first step was the online research in order to gain an overview of the subjects in question. The bibliographies of the online articles and research papers laid the foundations for further literature research and the selection of suitable works. Next, the information was collected from libraries in and outside of Cambodia as well as from online data bases of the BTU Cottbus and Cloud Deakin. Finally, this information was analysed and compiled.

I chose to read and comment on Barbara Kiefer’s “Envisioning Experience: The Potential of Picture Books.” Kiefer’s main point in writing this essay was to get the message across that children enjoy picture books that allow them to identify and make connections with the characters or the plots, and that while reading and analyzing the pictures, they gain a better sense of aesthetics and how to interpret them.
