“Five to One, baby, one in five. No one here gets out alive” (The Doors, 1968, Waiting for the Sun, Track 11) The final days of Jim Morrison’s life would be spent here in Paris with Pam Courson. While The Doors, L.A. Woman record was selling better than any previous Doors album Jim was searching for his creative spark again, only to find it wasn’t quite what he expected it to be. Before moving to Paris, Jim quit the band, many believe he had the intention of returning after finding his creative roots again, but there is no indication this was ever his true intention. Up until now the believe that Morrison died of a heart attack held true because only Pam and the medical examiner had seen the body before it was sealed in the casket. The medical examiner never came forward with any other information, and Pamela Courson died of a heroin overdose in 1974. However, this anonymous source says “On the night of July 3, 1971, Pam called a friend of mine all in tears and said that Jim had gotten into her heroin and overdosed. She didn't know what to do but she didn't want it to come out that he died from that, so my friend helped her plan out how to cover it up. Together they worked out all the details and Pam carried out the plan.” (Riordan & Prochnicky, 1991, p. 458). It is believed that if he did die of Pam’s heroin it was because he thought it to be cocaine and snorted it. “Jim detested heroin and would never inject himself.” according to Pam’s close friend Diane Gardiner.
