Feuds between the Capulets and the Montagues continue in Acts III and IV. First, within scene one a fight between Mercutio and Romeo against Tybalt breaks out. Feuds are shown here because of how Mercutio purposely mocks the Capulets to the point of Tybalt wanting to fight him. When Mercutio says “Here’s my fiddlestick; here’s that shall make you dance. Zounds, consort!” (3.1.49-50), he is instigating a fight. Second, I believe the Prince’s decision to exile Romeo was influenced by feuds. The prince probably knew if he executed Romeo the Montagues would call for the blood of lady Capulet for who specifically asked for Romeo to be killed. The prince saying “And for that offense immediately do we exile him hence.” (3.2.196-197), exhibits how
In the scene of the Nurse, Lady Capulet and Juliet, it shows that the Nurse knows more about Juliet than Juliet’s own mother when Lady Capulet didn’t know her age. Even though Juliet and Lady Capulet are related by blood, the Nurse is more of a mother to Juliet than her. Another significant thing about this is that Lady Capulet looks at Juliet like an object just to get
The Shakespearian play 'Romeo and Juliet' is based upon two main themes which are Love and Conflict. Shakespeare shows these two contrasting themes through the plot, language and the characters who interact with one another. The leading characters throughout the play are Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet who are known as star-crossed lovers because the opposing families have had an ancient feud against each other. In using these two themes Shakespeare creates the bitter turmoil and loving romance that is known as 'Romeo and Juliet.'
In the famous play, “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, Juliet struggles with her feelings and finds herself in a constant state of internal conflict. Some of her internal conflicts are when Juliet realizes Romeo is a Montague, when her father Capulet is forcing Juliet to marry Paris, when Romeo dies and Juliet decides to stab herself for Romeo only thinking about love. These events will lead to the sad tragedy of “Romeo and Juliet.”
Romeo and Juliet is conflict and love. Conflict and love are both shown through characterization in all of the characters. In the beginning, we see Juliet 's character as a little young child who obeys her family duties. When she meets, Romeo, her character is taken on a rollercoaster of emotions. Juliet 's character is the source of conflict and we see this through her developing actions. Romeo creates Juliet into this powerful young women. Romeo is so important to Juliet that she does not want to loose him. Conflict begins to arise when things actually take off. Once they are together on the balcony, is when they both realize that they are meant for each other. That true love is true and that they are destined for the stars. True love is
Romeo and Juliet is a story based on conflict. The conflict in the story is Capulet against Montague. From ancient times, the two families have held grudges against each other. As the book states. “Two households, alike in dignity...from ancient grudge break to new mutiny. Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean (1.Prologue.1-4).” The grudge between the two families has led to fighting and even death.
In Romeo and Juliet we learn how Shakespeare uses vivid language to build character and depth in their roles. Shakespeare was a poet, playwright and an actor with a great love for language. Shakespeare was of great importance when it came down to the moulding and developing of the English language. Shakespeare had such an immense love for language that he created neologisms that we use in everyday life. Some of these neologisms he created include words such as puke, lonely, bedroom, democracy etc. in the play he developed numerous characters that played incredibly believable roles. An example of how Shakespeare made his characters believable was Tybalt, who spoke only forty lines in the entire play. Though he
“There are no rewards or punishments---only consequences”, this was said by writer, professor, and priest William Ralph Inge. Romeo and Juliet has great lessons everyone can learn from. The two main characters seem to be a little lost in their love for each other in this long twisted play where nothing seems to go right. The story shows that secrets lead to more problems and that lying just brings more trouble to a person. William Shakespeare wrote this play, named The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, which tells of a love story between Romeo and Juliet and how it affected family, friends, and enemies.
Throughout the plot of Romeo and Juliet, there were many instances of conflict. While most of them were nonviolent, the fight between Romeo and Tybalt was the deadliest, causing two casualties. Mere threats between Mercutio, a relative of the Prince of Verona, and Tybalt resulted in Mercutio being stabbed by Tybalt, followed by Romeo killing Tybalt. Shortly after both deaths, the Prince arrived, heard what occurred, and consequently banished Romeo from Verona, due to a declaration he had made in an earlier scene in the play. While Romeo violated the declaration, he did not deserve a punishment as strict as being exiled.
After learning of Tybalt’s death and Romeo’s exile, Juliet feels conflicted which reveals her inner struggle. After their secret marriage, Juliet is patiently waiting for Romeo, her husband. The Nurse comes in and is very upset. She is crying that someone has died. Juliet thinks that the Nurse is talking about Romeo. The Nurse later reveals that Tybalt is the one who has died and Romeo has been banished. Juliet first feels very betrayed by Romeo and curses him. She later says, “He was not born to shame. /Upon his brow shame is asham’d to sit;/ For ’tis a throne where honor may be crown’d/ Sole monarch of the universal earth./ Oh, what a beast was I to chide at him!” (3.2.92-95). Juliet is saying that Romeo does not
Late Sunday night, Capulet held a feast at his Verona home, in hopes of finding a husband for his daughter “Juliet”. But what he got was a visit from Montague’s Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio.
Are Romeo and Julie a “love” relationship or is it a best friend kind of relationship? Love is someone will fight to stay with you, someone who will go above and beyond for you, they will love you for who you are not wh they want you to be, they will do everything in their power to make you happy and they won't complain about it, yes there is supposed to be disagreements and arguments, but if you have nothing nice to say to them than I don't think yall should be together. Yes, I think that Romeo and Juliet are in love because, Romeo is so “in love” with Juliet but, they will do about;y anything to be together. In Act 2, Scene 2 Romeo says “But, soft! WHat light through yonder window breaks?
“ Romeo, Romeo,” Benvolio shook Romeo’s shoulder when he noticed that Romeo wasn’t paying any attention to what he was saying.
Somehow through it all Romeo and Juliet stay together despite some conflicts from their love. In Act. 2 on page 71 a quote from the book states, “O Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, or if thou with not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.” Though Romeo is a Montague and Juliet a Capulet she still calls out to him because she is falling in love with him. This shows how Shakespeare thought that though these two were from two feuding families maybe with the love between Romeo and Juliet, maybe, they can finally find peace with each other. On page 89 it states, “In one respect I’ll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love.To
Romeo: look at Juliet, She is so beautiful. Please stand up so I can admire you. You are as beautiful as the sun. I really wish you knew how much I love you. The brightness of her cheeks outshine the stars.
