America is a nation of symbolism and power. When the great country of America is brought to mind, many things are thought of, including the flag and our national anthem. For decades the national anthem of America has been the Star Spangled Banner, but now the concern of changing it has come up. The second choice is America, the Beautiful which for many think is a better representation. The Star Spangled Banner is the best song to represent America and our common values of today . The Star Spangled Banner is a religion neutral song, shows off the pride that Americans have for America, and provides the respect given to the Armed Forces of the past and present. As a country of numerous freedoms, the people have the right to practice any religion of their choosing, or no religion at all. With that said, as a national anthem the song should be able to represent everyone as whole. When a countless percentage of the population is atheist, using religion and the power of God may offend a multitude of people’s religious stand being. For people here in America, the freedom of speech is something we all take for granted and don't think about all that often.
