Overall, Kathi is positive and pleasant in her demeanor towards students and staff. Kathi always greets her students with a smile when they enter the floor, starting their evening off on the right food. Kathi understands that her outlook affects the tenor of her interactions with students and staff. As a new team you have come together in the best interests of your students. Continue to prioritize your time between students and crafts, understanding that a balance can be achieved without impacting the services we provide for our students. Collaboration is a key factor in working as a team. There might be times when you disagree with an opinion of staff, try to listen to their perspective before you make any judgements, because we all learn
While the individual teaching styles of the team were very different, it became apparent that commonality existed in terms of supporting the growth of our students. After team collaboration, we adopted the following vision statement: “We will provide a classroom climate that fosters thoughtful and respectful consideration of alternative viewpoints and ideas, personal ownership of learning, and individual construction of personally meaningful knowledge.”
Parents and Staff: Everyday written report was given to the parents for mealtime and diapering log, there was Family Board Bulletin where milestone moments of each child were posted. Both teachers in the class communicated well with each other. The director(Kelly) was very helpful and supportive to all her staff members. At this time, they are short of staffs but Kelly is accepting new applicants. When new teacher is accepted she/he will undergo orientation first before working with
If they all work together the classroom will not only be a positive environment, but the goals that have been set will be achieved. High-quality teachers are important to have in any school district because they can really make a difference on our student’s life. We need to realize that our students are our future and it is important that they use what they have learned so they can learn to face the world properly with the different type of skills they have learned in school. Some students face complications, but educators are their to help students get through anything. It is always important to ask questions and to ask for help. This is something we encourage most at the Rolla Public School
Makenzie Walke is already a great person. She will continue to pursue intellectual excellence through her open mind and positive outlook on life. Kenzie has been in many of my classes through most of her high school career. Her creativity has been key in her sussess. She is always willing to put in extra effort into every project she attempts and her creativity guides her correctly everytime. Her ability to connect with others has been observed in action through class activities. She has been involved with many different interviewing, leadership, and follower roles within the classes she has taken. She always matches the role that is needed for her group to be successful and always has the big picture goals before her own personal goals. Through
The students and staff alike work together and collaborate to make the learning and experience of school meaningful. The teachers in each grade band are close and have been working together for many years. Even though the school is only 15 years’ old many of the teachers have been here for seven or more years. The kids are all different in everything to culture to learning types. The students in the class range from kindergarten levels all the way up to about 9th grade levels, even though this is a special education class. We have seventh and eighth grade students only in this class. There is one student with Downs Syndrome, a few with a specific learning disability in reading, math or both. We also have a student in because he is the “trouble kid”. This specific individual is incredibly smart but he has behavior problems and he can be difficult to teach or otherwise have in class. The atmosphere here in the class is different than in the individual classes. There is none of the regular gatherings of students in this class. Everyone is helpful, caring, accepting, kind and joking with one another.
Teachers need to be attentive to what is going on socially with their students. They too need to give positive
She demonstrated her oral articulateness in the presentations she created and executed, both within class and in outside trainings. As a Youth Leadership Development complimentary major Hannah, along with a group of her peers, developed presentations and engaged different community groups by teaching youth interpersonal skills, such as how to assertively say no and disarming anger. As a member of this group Hannah has been proven to be a well disciplined, industrious student with a pleasant personality. She went well beyond the course requirements in the quantity and quality of her projects by attending and participating in all of the training meetings and being open and receptive to critiques of her presentations. Throughout the course, Hannah demonstrated great perseverance and initiative, volunteering whenever a role-play needed an extra helper or when another group member needed some assistance with a troublesome student. Not only was she interested in and motivated by the groups presentations, but she also put great work into creating presentations that will serve as an aid when she becomes a
I found Ms. Young to be eager, enthusiastic and sensitive to her approach to succeed in my class. Her positive outlook played out well during her experience in my class. Ms. Young has a sincerity and willingness to work hard that will serve her
Lister is to communicate high expectations, flexible grouping, challenge students, monitor non-verbal behavior, etc. Ms. Lister shows a lack of personal communication/support for her students and there are different methods for promoting positive student-teacher relationship. For 3rd graders, a method that could be effective is demonstrating interest in students’ activities. A start to this can be going to their art class to show the students that you are interested in not only academics, but their creative side too. Ms. Lister also must improve her communication to her students for them to respect her instruction. Ms. Lister should consider that after giving instructions, have the students that do not understand paraphrase the directions so there is not miscommunication in what is expected. Also, if the instructions are too dense for her students, break the tasks down into smaller sections and give precise directions. Lastly, Ms. Lister would benefit the most with effectively using surface management techniques when controlling the behaviors of her students. Her students are frequently not following directions, making negative comments, etc. and some of the surface management techniques can be crucial for her
Kelsey is the youngest and least experienced member of our lab. She is unique because she is the only member of our group that belongs to the millennial generation. Her generation is well-known for not conforming to bureaucracy and organizational rules. This is where we have issues with Kelsey when it comes to working. She strives to live in a world where she makes her own rules and regulations and answers to no one. She displays passive aggressive behavior because, during meetings, she expresses strong agreement and appears cooperative, but she actually will not follow new procedures or policies. She will openly agree with the group, but then will not follow the new procedure or policy once we put it into place.
Christine should understand how people relate to one another in groups and the blended personalities that each member brings will be based on their needs to express feelings of inclusion and control are important to the success of the team. With the situation with Mike and knowing off first hand that he is the class clown, is allow him to be creative and be the presenter of their project to the class to show case the teams work. Steve being the business mind, allow him to produce the project plan. By doing this, Christine would draw on each team member’s strengths and a successful workgroup performance.
I treating everyone the same, is the first step of building trust among the staff members. I want the staff to know that I value each and every one of them no matter how experienced or inexperienced they are. The first thing I would do is create a survey for the staff. I would use the website SurveyMonkey so the staff can anonymously take the survey. I want to know what they feel are the strengths and weaknesses of our school. I want to know how they feel. Examples of survey questions I would use are: (Each question can be answered by strongly agree, agree, disagree, neutral, strongly disagree and I would have a spot below where they can add any input they would like)
Ms. Olsen was the leader of the grade-level meeting that I attended. The meeting was held before school and all of the Kindergarten teachers were present. At first they disused old business, such as the school wide carnival that had been held last week and the money that they earned from it. Then they went on to discuss the notes that Ms. Olsen brought back with her from the faculty meeting. In these notes there was information not only bout the Kindergarten department, but also about things that were coming up around the school that may impact on the Kindergarten class. There were no disagreements in the meeting, it went very smoothly and efficiently. Each teacher had a chance to share information or to ask questions about the information given out. At this time they also had time to address any other issues that may have come up since the last meeting.
Also at this particular stage our Department Chair tells us what she expect of us are team member and role models for our students.
needs are met and they feel as if they are respected by the teacher. Mutual respect is once again
