Someday, I have no idea when I will go into a position of leadership. Thinking about this I will have to decide what key characteristics I should imply to help my group, but another thing I would have to think about is how I would be perceived by my fellow people whom I shall be leading. What tactics you imply can define how your group of people see you, for you might have to be a fierce, for if your not you might not be taken as seriously. It is a good idea to have some fierceness but depending on how you go along this route in can go in two ways, you can either be seen as very intimidating or you can be seen as a big douchebag. A quote by Alexander The Great “ I am not afraid of an army of lions lead by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep lead by a lion” and knowing what qualities will make you a good leader shall make you the lion and not the sheep. …show more content…
Since one might be very book smart but have little to no common sense, which is very important, and a trait that would be good to have is preparation/organization as it will be very important in the long run. After thinking about this deeply the traits I would have as a leader is knowledge and intelligence, I will give others respect in wishing that give that respect back in return, and with those three qualities, hopefully I will be the lion and not the

To begin, I exhibit qualities of a great leader. Firstly, at my Saturday morning bowling league, I am positioned as the anchor, which means I am expected to lead my team to victory.. Secondly, I lead by being a good example to my peers, and I am a positive role model. Lastly, when my friends have problems they come to me and I lead them to a positive solution. This is being a good leader.
The next question posed to Rene inquired about essential characteristics of a leader. After giving the question some thought she responded by saying that a leader must be able to remain objective and prioritize. “Prioritizing in my job is essential,” Rene stated, “with so many issues to deal with some nights it can be difficult to determine which to tackle first. However, remaining calm and objective in your decision making can help a leader prioritize properly, which can improve patient outcomes.” Additionally, Rene emphasized that the best leaders lead by example. By displaying desired attitudes and behaviors, a nursing leader may inspire their staff to act in a similar manner. Another area Rene stressed when posed this question was a leader’s ability to support learning. She went on to state that “it is necessary to focus on learning, not chastising. Placing the blame on someone rather than stepping back and looking at the details of a problem, deters the team from achieving the overall goal. Incident reports remain vital to the process of learning.” Rene continued to emphasis that by filling out incident reports individuals can analyze a situation or process and determine where the flaws or errors remain present. Without incident reports and learning from mistakes, growth remains difficult. Diana S. Contino (2011), author of “Leadership Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitudes Nurses Need to Lead Organizations Effectively,” believes that organizational and
Leadership goes beyond management, for some, leadership is instinctual and pours over into your personal life. This paper will discuss a leader I admire in my personal life, and analyze their leadership style. I will discuss how that leader has influenced my leadership style, as well as how things like environment and the economy affect my leadership approach.
As a leader, I want to be able help others and be a good example. Also as a leader, not only am I not afraid to voice my own opinion and ideas, but am I willing to listen others’ opinions and ideas as well. To be a good leader, I believe one needs be willing to listen and work with others, compromise, and be open minded and empathetic towards others. I believe I have all of
The more you become flexible and respectful then you will be put into a position of authority and you will be respected and then people will become flexible around you because you have made your mark and now people know you as the leader or being in
A leader must be Strong. You can't be afraid or back down when trouble strikes. In 527 Justinian failed to lead Rome to lasting success. The fall of Rome accrued because Justinian wanted to back down multiple times and felt like giving up. “Justinian had considered fleeing during the Nika Rebellion, but his wife, Theodora, urged him to stay” (Textbook pg 303). “Emperor
There are many admirable traits of leadership, but the three I discussed above are the characteristics by which I desire to live. I want to build strong and genuine relationships, be forward thinking and a role model that others want to follow. I do not believe that a person must be a born leader; rather, I have the view that we can all acquire qualities that will help us grow and develop into leaders. It is human to make mistakes, but if we learn from them, we will be better people, who can make a difference in this world. In the words of Mahatma
What is a leader? A leader is a person who commands a group, organization, or country. Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. I have experience democratic leaderships through playing on a high school football team, being apart of groups in college for class presentations, being a youth leader in my church, and also being apart of a family. I have gain important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Some of valuable leaderships traits that I obtained and strengthened are: how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to have more patience, to be not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I
I feel being a good leader requires having good character. I value being a person whom someone can trust and rely upon. In order to achieve this, I make sure to contribute to projects, uphold my responsibilities, and most importantly, be aware of others by being respectful, kind, and sympathetic. I am a meticulous and organized planner; I enjoy organizing events, creating schedules and deadlines as well as formatting information for easier understanding for my teammates and
There are several characteristics that a leader or a potential leader should carry which include: confidence, responsibility, Integrity, etc... As a child of God I work on exemplifying those traits, for example I try to use my experience and knowledge to guide some of the freshmen males at my high school so that they do not make any mistakes that can haunt them later on such as low grades and bad studying habits. I am also a Student mentor in the club the distinguished gentlemen I help guide the younger students in what they should and shouldn't do. As a Co-captain of the track and field team I push my teammates to work hard and push themselves to greater heights even when they feel it’s pointless. I am building qualities and habits of leadership for the future in my adulthood where true leadership is valued. This is why I want to be a naval officer, to help me mature as a person and a
As a leader I work well with others but I can also take charge when necessary. I like to find different ways people can work together and make projects fun and interesting. I’ll always try to fix problems and be
The characteristics of leadership and what it means to be a leader to me is someone who not only wants themselves to succeed but wants others around them to succeed even more. Being a leader is a trait I thrive to achieve everyday, sometimes with success, sometimes not. Throughout my career as a student I have continued to develop my understanding of what it means to be a leader. In one instance I was awarded the leadership role of captain of the junior varsity soccer team, something that I had not comprehended the value of until later.
Leadership is something that we are all born with because we are all born. Therefore, who is a leader and who is not depends on who really wants to be a leader and who does not. Leadership is a skill and so it can be learned. As anything that is learned it demands practice and practice to be the best. It would not be something that will happen in a matter of a day. There are multiple elements that make a leader. Collaboration is a key element for successful teamwork. Therefore, a leader must always be in the look for ways to foster collaboration. Creating trust within the team, support face-to-face collaboration, transfer responsibilities when making decisions, and ultimately teach other how to be leaders. All of this is not done if it is not done from the bottom of your own heart.
There are many definitions of leadership even though these definitions are merely a change of words (Northouse, 2016). Therefore, the definition that covers most examples of leadership is the ability to influence your team in such a way that the team will follow your orders and see the vision for success the leader sees (Northouse, 2016). However, some of the characteristics that allow a follower to lead vary from person to person. (Storsletten, V., & Jakobsen, O). When a Leader rises to power, factors exist based on the environment of the individual, such as when the son of the King eventually takes the throne (Northouse, 2016).
