My career path to education is one that has evolved over the years. Growing up I always know I wanted to work with children. Within my undergrad experience become a teacher seem to feel like it was where I belong. Being in the position of starting my path as a special education teacher for mild to moderate, I can see how my role as an educator can have an impact on students’ lives.

The career that I am going to research is teaching at the middle school level. Teachers educate students, they inspire students, they learn from the students, and they change the way they teach, to better help the children learn, as well as change the way the children learn and think.

First, I have a passion to teach younger students and help shape their early development. I think that children are highly impressionable in their earlier years and I want to play a role in their early development.

The career I am researching is an elementary school teacher. Some of the main duties include establishing and enforcing rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students, preparing materials for activities, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. Responsibilities include grading work, maintaining the classroom, and teaching them what they need to know. The work environment for an elementary school teacher mainly is kindergarten and elementary school teachers work in public and private schools. They generally work school hours when students are present and use nights and weekends to prepare lessons and grade papers. Most kindergarten and elementary school teachers do not work during the summer.

Education is a crucial tool in developing the skills needed to go throughout life. From the time we are born, we are constantly learning. Our parents try to teach us words, shapes and colors, but our true education starts in kindergarten. At this time we are learning many things that we will use for the rest of our lives. These essential skills that we learn in the early years of our education are what help us to excel in the future. The basic knowledge of certain topics can easily be expanded upon. What we learn throughout our elementary education becomes the building blocks for our future. The people that are responsible for this imperative type of learning are elementary school teachers. I am currently a Kindergarten teacher at Our Lady of Trust Academy. Although it is a wonderful private institution, my goal is to teach at a public school. With all that being said what intrigues me most about this career is the fact that I will be getting a chance to teach children new things and see their faces light up when they understand the curriculum and see those light bulbs go off that they can do anything they put their mind to.

1. Futuristic: My number one strength is futuristic. I always like to discuss what my future will be. I always get questions like “Are you sure it is going to happen that way?” or a statement like “You are awfully young to think of something so far away?” My goal in life is to become manager (Administrative-nonlicensed role) in the school district that I grew up in. Currently I am employed as an assistant preschool teacher in that very district (Osseo Area Schools). I think this a great way to get my foot in the door. I tell my current co-workers what I want to do with my life and they say it is a great idea since my major is in Business Administration. Also, because I already work for the same district and getting to know the staff and students that go there every day.

So you want to be an elementary school teacher? It’s a challenging career, requiring patience and social skills, as you have to be able to wrangle a room filled with rambunctious children. Once you get through the tough stuff, the career is filled with immeasurable rewards. The career that interests me is a kindergarten and elementary school teacher. In the Nebraska Career education model, this career is under Human Services and Education, which is a match with my NCC assessment results. At this level of education you teach them the basic subjects, such as reading and mathematics. In addition to the basics you will also help them learn social skills, such as sharing and communicating with others. Although children at this age are at the beginning stages of learning, their enthusiasm and energy levels are high, so it is very important to create stimulating lesson plans to keep them focused. Each lesson plan must include several areas in order to complete the standards required by the state in which you are working in.

I think since I would always talk to my teachers in grade school they would give me advise and I want to help kids educationally wise but also help guide them in life. Being a teacher will allow me to be social with kids but with adults too. A teacher has control of their classroom and does not have to depend on anyone else to teach and since I like to have control of things and do not have to really rely on someone takes that some stress of me. For me a school is a fortress, it is a building where a small child feels safe and protected by a great army that he calls teachers, the first years of school are the most important for children since teachers can positively influence their students. The career that intrigues me is elementary education, which is kindergarten through 8th grade. Lastly I value my workplace and having the pleasure of working in a satisfying, attractive work space where the supervisors and co-workers are supportive and friendly. I expect that being a teacher at a school will have all these conditions. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers work in public or private schools. Seeing students develop new skills and learn information can be very rewarding.
