Many people knew Louis Armstrong as the “first real genius of jazz”(Shipton 26). He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 4, 1901. Louis was the illegitimate son of William Armstrong and Mary Est “Mayann” Albert. He was abandoned by his father, a boiler stoker, shortly after his birth and was raised by his paternal grandmother. Then, at the age of five, he was returned to the care of his mother, who at the time worked as a laundress. Together with his mom, they moved to a better area of New Orleans. This is where Armstrong first fell in love with music; he would listen to people playing any chance that he would get(Tirro). He would attend parades, funerals, churches and go to cheap cabarets to be able to hear some of the greats play

Nicolas Salinas Mrs. Hefner English II Honors 20 April 2015 The Value of Life In modern day society, there are social constructs that human beings feel they must live up to and want to put a value to human life. However, society should not assign one single value to human life. An individual’s life is so precious, distinct, and eccentric that everyone’s perspective on the value of human life is conversely obscure.
Upon research I found various slogans they use such as, “Finding cures. Saving Children.” And “Join our mission, become part of the team.” While these slogans are catchy and make you feel like part of the team, without doing research I would not be sure what they were talking about. St. Jude’s has increased survival rates from 20% to 80% since the hospital opened. They are only National Cancer Institute devoted solely to kids.

Competing in Crossfit competitions is no easy task by any means. It requires an array of skills that cover all aspects of physical fitness. Having a successful team would require four different people that specialize in each movement and one more person that does not specialize, but is rather good at every motion required. If each person does what they are best at, the team will be more successful than any others in the world.

Relay for Life is a fundraiser that’s goal is to one day live in a cancer free world. All of the money raised goes towards saving lives, whether it is for patients or medical research. Relay for Life represents the memory of those lost to cancer, hope of those who face cancer and support offered to them, that one day cancer will be eradicated from the world, and a world with more birthdays. At Relay there are teams that raise money intended to fight cancer, and find a cure. Even with all the funding, and searching for the cure to rid our world of cancer as of today there still is not a cure. The chances of someone having cancer increases the longer the disease is allowed to run ramped. Cancer doesn’t discriminate, anyone can get cancer at any
Cancer is deadly, and people should do everything in their power to help find a cure. There is not a single person on this earth that has not been affected by cancer. Ghandi said, ‘be the change you want to see in your world.” Everyone should choose to “be the change” and choose to be a hero, even if it’s for someone you do not know.
