Leadership Assessment
Successful Leader:
The key to being a successful leader is tobbe diverse and trusting. As a leader, it is crucial to have a diverse perspective and understanding of both your followers and the ultimate goal of you company or organization. A leader cannot easily motivate a group to participate if there is not an understanding of each individual’s perspective and background. When this aspect is ignored the team member feels excluded from the project and loses motivation. It is also important to have a diverse perspective towards the goal or mission of the team because other important factors that may matter to the public could be ignored when the leader is too focused on one factor of the project. In order to actually be a leader, one must also have trust in its team. A leader cannot lead without any followers, therefore, the leader must trust its followers when it comes to taking care of specific task for the project.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality test developed by Isabelle Myers Briggs and her mother, Katharine Briggs (Atay, 2012, p. 74). The pair developed MBTI based on Carl Jung’s theory that suggested that the differences in human behavior are a result of “logical results of a few basic preferences” (Atay, 2012, p. 74). The MBTI acts as a personality inventory and helps the individual decipher the preferences that are best suited for the personality type (Atay, 2012, p. 75).
Out of the four personality assessments, I would recommend the MBTI. I would recommend the MBTI because according to Amtrak statements, they want to search for “focused introverts” and the MBTI tells you how much of an introvert you are. Although, the MMPI is used by employers it isn’t what Amtrak said they were looking for. In this case, the MBTI is a better fit than the other three because it measures preferences rather than traits.
As I reviewed my MBTI results, most of my percentages have not drastically changed over time. This gives me continued confidence in the following MBTI results which indicate I am an ?ISTJ?: introvert (16%), sensing (9%), thinking (31%) and judging (53%) (Jung Typology Test, 1998-2017).
During the group work in the course it was apparent that a few traits stood out that would help a leader effectively lead the team. First, the leader must understand the project and be able to communicate that to the team members to improve commitment and ensure quality. Second, the team should have common goals as we set forth in our team charter. This provides measurable metrics which will help identify if the team is effective. Third, accountability is a priority from the very beginning. Everyone needs to know their part and the consequences if they are unable to meet the expectations set out by the group. Lastly, the leader must be able to create an environment of open communication to enable team members to give and receive feedback that will enhance the quality of the project.
According to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), I am an ISTJ personality this means that I am an Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging person. ISTJ are very faithful, loyal and dependable. We are also reserved people who are interested in a secure and quiet life. ISTJ’s place importance in being honesty and can be trusted to do the right thing for their families and friends. There are some weaknesses to being an ISTJ personality we are stubborn, insensitive, and judgmental. This test is amazing it really nailed my personality.

As defined by out textbook, the MBTI is “a personality assessment that uses four dimensions of personality to identify different personality types” (Robbins, S. P., De Cenzo, D. A., & Coulter, M. 2015). According to CPP.com, Millions of people take the assessments each year to learn more about themselves and understand how they interact with others, making it the world’s most trusted personality assessment (MBTI, n.d.). The four dimensions of the MBTI are; Extraversion versus Introversion ( EI), Sensing versus Intuition ( SN), Thinking versus Feeling ( TF), and Judging versus Perceiving ( JP). After completing the assessment, I have an ESTP (Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving) personality type. As an Extravert, I'm the type of person that needs to get out of the house and socialize. At work, I prefer to collaborate on projects. I'm always keeping my ear to the ground, finding out what my friends' plans are or looking at new trends in business. I’m also a sensing type of person. I need crystal clear instruction of direction. Let me know exactly what you need from me, how to go about completing the task, and what am I being measured on when it comes to success. I also great memory, I tend to get people's attention with the amount of things I remember. When it comes to thinking, I'm always seeking out facts and using logic. At work, I'm never afraid of being

After taking this test, your answers will show what type of personality you have out of sixteen varying sets. The different categories include a combination of introversion or extroversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, and judging or perception. This test showed that I was ISFP, or in other words, introversion, sensing, feeling, and perception. My test results describe me very accurately. Overall, I am quite, sensitive, friendly, and kind. I do not like arguments and conflicts and I care very deeply about others. All of these traits are described as an ISFP individual. The Myers-Briggs test relates similarly to the results of other personality tests, like the temperament
The results of the self-assessments are not consistent. According to the Authentic Leadership Self-Assessment, I rated low on self-awareness. This is due to my inability to recognize my strengths and weaknesses. I did, however, rate high on internalized moral perspective, balanced processing, and relational transparency. Next, the LMX 7 Questionnaire, I rated high. This questionnaire was given to my supervisor and one of my followers. The results of my Path-Goal Leadership Questionnaire, I rated average in all leadership styles. I rated highest in the directive style. The Skills Inventory Assessment resulted in a high score in technical and human skills, and moderate in conceptual skills. Having a moderate score in conceptual skills results in my inability to see the goals of the organization. I should familiarize myself with the organizations aims and objectives and align my goals with theirs. Furthermore, the Leadership Trait Questionnaire scores averaged between a 3 and 4, the highest scores being in dependability and friendly.
