What is leadership, followership, and management, and how do they relate to each other? Leadership, followership, and management are all characteristics that should be found amongst all organization. These attributes can take place at any level in the workplace, including the bottom line. Leadership and management are two terms that are often confused, but they are both unique in their own ways. Followership is often overlooked in the workplace, but it is crucial to producing an effective product or service. Leadership is made of communicating, “soft people skills”, and setting the example for others. Even not-for-profit healthcare organizations must make a certain dollar amount to stay in business. When becoming efficient with the spending and budgeting of an organization, waste can be easily eliminated from an organization. Cost is the other portion of the healthcare iron triangle which is directly tied to the financial status of an organization. The financial position of the organization is a direct indicator as to how the organization is operating. Quality or access can be improved at a healthcare facility, but it comes with a price. Therefore, the best CEO’s identify the priorities of the organization based on the financial position and exploit these opportunities. Focusing on finances and having a considerable ability to adapt to change are the two traits I hope to absorb when entering into the healthcare world. There are many other great traits to have for the skill set of any manager, but it is these two traits that can translate to any type of healthcare facility. This kind of humbleness creates a mutual respect between all of the employees. Being vulnerable also sparks motivation because it is a visible sacrifice the manager is making in order to better serve the employees of that organization. As stated earlier recognizing strength’s are just as important as weakness’, so managers need to know what areas they are most resourceful or knowledgeable. It is common for people to know what they are good at because it is an easy topic to discuss. Although, another area of potential develops of managers when recognizing their strengths and weakness, which is the delegation of work. If a manager can recognize that he might not perform as well in a certain area of a project, then the manager can entrust another individual on the team to complete the appropriate area of the
