Raised by a wealthy family Lincoln did not have to face any problems, he was able to get the best education from University of California, Berkeley and he also attended military school. Despite that he was removed from his house when he came back home married to a German woman. This influenced him to become a police reporter in the city of New York and by 1892 he was able publish his first article on corrupt policemen and municipal government in New York´s Even Post. He was soon promoted for this in 1903 when the article become famous from being a reporter to the editor for the McClure´s Magazine. Lincoln soon started writing articles of corruption in each city and named the series ¨Shame of (Name of the City)¨, for example ¨Shame of St. Louis¨. These articles series were later published as Lincoln's first book in 1940, Shame of the cities. This book created awareness on corrupt politicians, policemen, and even businessmen. His book was known to be one of the best books written in the twentieth century. He was inspired by revolutions occurring all around the world during that time, like the Bolshevik Revolution and the Mexican Revolution. He wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. Carl liked to write a lot about nature and the things he saw happening around him. He also wrote a lot of series of poems and books. Although Carl Sandburg went through many challenges in life, he still managed to write poetry for us all to enjoy.

Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer, a native of Vienna. His early musical training in piano and violin lessons came from his father, and his older brother, who were both school teachers (Brown p. 752). Later, he studied under the Viennese court composer Salieri (Brown p.753). After college he became a teacher at his father's school. He detested the teaching profession because it took time away from his compositions. His most prolific year was 1815 during which he wrote 145 songs, including the famous Erlkönig.
