“Four score And seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” Abraham Lincoln grew up in Hardin County Kentucky, Therefore, he was taught how to read and write at home. When Lincoln grew up, he tried out divers different jobs, but one he loved was law and government. He stepped up and ran for president. He shortly after got elected as the 16th president of the United States of America. Abraham Lincoln is important by the reasoning of he gave the country and many slaves hope that they would be free, and his actions to do that. He is famous for his many famous speeches about why slavery is wrong, and his actions against slavery. …show more content…

According to biography.com,” He chose a strong cabinet of all his political rivals.” Also, according to goodreads.com,”... a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” Abraham chose his rivals and enemies as his political cabinet because he knew it was the right element to do for the country if he wanted it to succeed. Also in his famous speech The Gettysburg Address he said that all men are created equal showing that he believes that everyone should be treated the same. Secondly, Abraham Lincoln was important because he led the country to win the Civil War. We care because if the north did not win the war consequently, then we still might be harboring slaves in and out the country, and we might still be treating them unfairly. Because of the north winning today we have things, including, “The Black Lives Matter.” Winning the war and freeing the slaves gave the country a revolution. You should care because he gave people their freedom and you can’t say that all people are created equal if you are mistreating a certain
