President Abraham Lincoln is famous for his involvement during the Civil War. Standing against slavery, he worked diligently towards the unity of all men. Lincoln involvement started as a lawyer, he provided legal services for those who could not be being able to pay for a lawyer. He also worked as a state legislator for the state of Illinois and served for a term at the House of Representatives. The most memorable speech during his time, the Gettysburg Address. This 270 words, two-minute speech that will go in history as one of the greatest speeches of all time.

George Washington, rewarded for his superior leadership skills, was granted the tremendous responsibility of the position of President of the United States. No ordinary man could bear this weight alone, with the exception of the strongest of the strong. George Washington, “Father of the Nation”, is a stronger president than Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson for multiple reasons such as, being a powerful military strategist and a stronger national leader.

He had a strong moral vision of where his country must go to preserve and enlarge the rights of all her people, but he was also a good man with a strong sense of character and a great discipline in the art of law; and he sought to continue the great and mighty legacy of the Constitution. He believed that the Founding Fathers had drawn up the Constitution without the mention of slavery because they felt that it would later die of a natural death. He would soon learn that that would not be the case.

The Civil War was a war between the South and the North. In the South they wanted slavery, and if they were in the North they did not. The conflict arose when the North wanted to abolish slavery, and the South wanted to continue. The Civil War was a 4 year battle, in the United States. The Union and the Confederate soldiers fought from 1861 to 1865 in the Civil War.

There is a clear reason why George Washington is the best out of the first four Presidents. He is quite possibly one of the best. He was really the one who pushed our nation to heights that were thought to have been impossible to reach. He also put out laws and regulations that balanced the government, and benefitted the people. There are good reasons as to why Jefferson, Madison, and Adams cut it close that will eventually be touched on.

To conclude Abraham Lincoln was an important figure in American history and he did everything he could to abolish slavery and create peace in the country. He was known as the father and strong military leader and he was determined to succeed in making America a place of freedom. He stood up with the abolitionist to make the USA a slavery free country. The civil war was a dark and brutal time for America. There was a person that brightened the time and saved America from separation. Also, he established the United States Department of Agriculture, USDA. This man was Abraham Lincoln and he was extremely important the USDA and the Civil war. Through their powerful and motivating speeches, they were able to change the minds of Americans and help to improve society and the welfare of the people. Douglas fought for black civil rights through compelling speeches, while Lincoln spoke more calmly and peacefully for unity with the Confederate states. Both men had very different goals but had the same motivation to achieve a better America for all.

Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson all had many great accomplishments over the years that they served. Lincoln ended slavery, Washington signed many peace treaties and Jefferson was apart of many differnet offices. However Washington used his previous knowledge and negotionating abilities to solve issues with out war.

Besides Lincoln's revered speeches, there are other things he is remembered for during his two terms as president. He is best remembered for his very important role as the leader in preserving the Union during the Civil War and beginning the process that led to the end of slavery in the United States. He is also remembered for his Godly character, his many speeches and letters, and as a man of humble beginnings whose determination and perseverance led him to become the nation's 16th president.

John Adams once said, “Fear is the foundation of most governments.” Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Karl Marx all grew up in a time of war and witnessed the same events that caused them to create their idea of government. Hobbes learned that people are naturally wicked, Locke learned that people all had natural rights. Karl Marx thought that the social order did not matter. All of them concluded that their governmental plan was the most reliable form of governing. They all had great ideas for government, but John Locke’s ideas would best fit today’s societies, and would best fit in with Adam’s Smith’s ideas.
