The research paper deals with the introduction and development of Persian form of narrative poetry which is called Masnavi by Amir Khusrau in Indian literature. Masnavi is an ancient form of poetry which is divided into four categories according to the contents involved: epical, romantic, ethnic and sufistic, and fiction. . The Masnavi ‘hasht bihisht’ was formed to show the different faces of the world from which the last poem showcased the beauty of true virtues. Khusrau’s ‘the Tale of the Camphor Princesses’ is a poem that provides every element a reader wants to have in the poetry he is reading. The poem has a unique status among other Masnavis because of its very own outstanding qualities. It develops gradually, reaches its high and ends at a happy and justified note. Amir Khusrau was truly a great poet with a marvelous eloquence he had created such masterpieces which are appreciated till the present by poets, readers and critics. The tale of the camphor Princess tells us that true love will come to your way eventually at the right time and till then you must beware of treacherous people. This tale has not just given out the concept of true love but has also thrown light on the fact that true virtues are like a treasure that must be kept safe and a person would surely get rewarded for his deeds.
