Literature Review Assignment Template Student Name: Jessica Briones Date of Submission: September 16, 2017 A. Discussion of Database Search 1. Search terms (1-word term plus a “2-word” term) 1-word term: Chemotherapy 2-word term: “Childhood Cancer” 2. Summary of database search (up to 500 words): My two-word search term is “childhood cancer” and my one-word search term is chemotherapy. My initial search was through Scopus. I searched both of the terms using the Boolean Operator “AND” to ensure that my search retrieved sources that had both of my search terms. For my two-word term, I added quotation marks around it because I wanted to search the two words together. The range of years for publications that appeared were from 2017 until the year 1958 with a total of 49 different years in between. A total of 6,790 articles were shown. After I limited my search to only nursing, articles, and articles in press, my total number came down to 113. After I limited my search to the years 2003-2017, only 89 articles remained. After performing a Google search on the author with the highest cited article using the specified format, I retrieved a total of 1,460 hits. In Google Scholar, I retrieved 437 hits. On PubMed, I initially searched term 1 with quotation marks around it along with my search term 2 using the Boolean Operator “AND” and was able to retrieve 6,778 articles. When I performed the same search again but without quotation marks, I retrieved a total of 10,749

The two keywords that I used for my simple Good search was “expensive public colleges”. There were a bunch of results that popped up that had a large amount of information involving expensive colleges. The number results that I had was about 95,500,000. In my second search I included site:.gov to my keywords. This time the amount of results that popped up wasn’t as much as the previous search. Adding the .gov to my keywords gave me only sites that were governmental. The number of results I got was 1,500,00. In this search I got more pdf files and documents that contained information about expensive colleges. In Search 3 my search was “expensive college -USA”. To my surprise this actually increases the amount of results I got from Search 2.
The twentieth century has often been called the cancer century. This is because more than a hundred types of cancer have been discovered in this century, and secondly, because enormous medical efforts have been made to fight all kinds of cancer throughout the world. In the early decades of the twentieth century, cancer was considered to be a fatal disease. Although some cancers are still fatal, medical therapy has developed significantly over the years so that most cancers can be treated and cured. After decades of struggling to treat various cancers, doctors are now becoming more aware of the causes of these diseases, how they can be treated, and what can be done to prevent them.

You will be writing a card report for each of the novels you have read. A card report is a way of analyzing a fictional work into its several elements. It is called a card report because it has often been done on a 5 by 8-inch index card. This report is a preliminary analysis of the novel. This is not only an assignment in analyzing literature but also in writing. You do not have much time or space, and so every word counts.
In the beginning of this story numerous cases of chronic illness and a overwhelming number of cancer cases are brought to our attention. There seems to be no direct cause or correlation between these cases,
Hypothermia is not a widely used treatment due to risk for complications associated with hypothermia such as pneumonia, seizures and infection.
Formative research approach would be the best evaluation approach to apply to my program for homeless youth to find housing transitional program. My program, Beacon Hill, would help homeless youth from ages 16-21 to find a job and stable housing. The youth would attend workshops to help them find jobs before securing permanent housing. By using formative research, we would be able to get research questions to help us with writing an action plan. This is relevant to our evaluation design so we can see whether or not the program is equipped to run. Formative research is about formulating actions to use for the action plan to be consistent and reliable. Questions that can be used for to help Beacon Hill figure out which form of learning would
After completely reading the Study, Environmentalism among College Students: A Sociological Investigation, I found that Lang and Podeschi effectively “set the stage” and provided relevant background information on the topic and relevance of their research. I thought their introduction was well constructed, giving the reader an idea of the focal point of the research and the researcher’s intentions. In their introduction, Lang and Podeschi stated the recent trends in Americans awareness about environmental issues and the varying attitudes and behaviors based on a number of social and cultural variables. Which provided the relevance of their study.
The peer review worksheet was a great help in providing us a guide of how to begin our meeting. However, prior to the meeting Tiana and I been communicating through email and exchanging our paper. We first touch base with each other, by asking how we are doing. For example, we express our thoughts and check to make sure we also did other assignments that was related to the course. Then, we answer each other questions regarding the paper. For example, the structure our paper, the contains, and our one on one. We discuss where we are at on our paper and what we still needed to touch up on. I shared her my peer feedback worksheet. Such as, her paper does make me feel like I was reading an article about personality disorder. She also shared me
You made an interesting statement about having an institutional learning as part of the routine professional development in organizations. I like to add insights about routine professional development in organizations. Professional development should be instituted in organizations as a routine to keep up with market trends, industry trends, or even just the scope of the product or service. “Moreover, professional development also means that the protagonist is the professional him/herself and not only an external expert” (Nasciutti, et al., 2016, pg.88). It is about having the formal, ongoing efforts that help the organizations to improve their performance and self-fulfillment through a wide range of applications from education in highly
Our group chose a research question stating what are the interventions to promote smoking cessations among teenagers. I chose to search the topic through the Chamberlain library database instead of using Google. The database I used from the Chamberlain library is EBSCO Databases – Main Search Page. The terms that I used to search for my article is smoking cessation and adolescent and United States. I wanted to retrieve an article that is not only relevant to the research question, but is able to answer the research question. When I entered in the terms that I was using to search for my article, I had a search result of 2,826 articles. Before I move forward into choosing my article, I made sure that my article was within a reasonable time
articles. Again, the search was very limited. Realizing the need to narrow the search, I then used the CINAHL Subject Headings as a component for my search. Subject Heading Search Keeping note that the keyword retrieval left me with 3,087 articles, I then used CINAHL Headings for my search. The CINAHL Heading search allows the search of literature with certain terms desired in the references. By typing “hand washing” under the CINAHL Heading and browsed, I was given terms that were related to hand washing. The terms were ranked based on the relevancy of importance related to the subject. Handwashing was the first term found and by clicking on its link, I was taken to a term detailed screen. Listed was handwashing under the “Tree View” terms, which are hierarchy groupings of subject headings. The subheadings were also found here. I chose handwashing and infection control. By clicking on the subheadings and the “Explode” link, I then gained access to articles that contained terms about handwashing or infection control. The “Explode” link is thought of as an operators of “OR”. It is used to find articles containing the keyword or other words as chosen. Once I exploded handwashing with infection control, I found myself with 1,626 articles
