I know that thousands of students throughout the world have applied to Long Island University (LIU) because they hold it in high regard. I have admired LIU for quite some time, and from my many visits I have come to love the diversity of people on the campus atmosphere and need for knowledge at the Brooklyn Campus and in the nearby area. It is because of my extraordinary esteem for the university that I write this GPA letter of appeal. When a school such as LIU is so flooded with qualified applicants, the position of the admissions officer can certainly be frightful. Frankly, I do not feel that LIU is wrong to selecting a class modest to be equaled to the number of students’ desire attending LIU. I am writing this letter as a request for my admissions decision for the …show more content…
I was even more impressed by how successful they are. A close friend from SUNY Buffalo who received her MPH from LIU described how dedicated everyone is there. My assurance that my desire to be successful and be the best that I can be, will further guarantee a positive university experience. As I am submitting my application in September, I have increased a better understanding of who I am, and a better understanding of myself in the job force and in the world. Through numerous social work training classes and participation in work-force events, I realize both how valuable young minds are, and the importance of positive influence in one’s life. Thus, I have concentered more of my personal philosophies on young adults in lower class. Currently I am working as a care coordinator in a program specifically designed to inform clients about substance abuse and health problems they may encounter if they do not stay compliant with their medications and doctors’ visits. Politically, LIU is the place for me to be. I dream of becoming a public health investigator, I plan to make my dream a reality through hard work and
I put on the lead apron and walked into the operating room. I was shadowing an interventional radiologist, and although I was just watching the procedure, I was nervous. What if I faint? What if I get queasy during the surgery and have to walk out? These questions filled my mind with diffidence. But as I stood there, just a few feet from a doctor carefully maneuvering a catheter around the vasculature of the patient’s brain, I had never been more intrigued and excited. My feelings of self-doubt washed away as a flood of fascination and curiosity came over me. I watched as the doctor skillfully pulled the blockage out of the women’s brain and place it on a tray next to me. The enormity of the procedure was not lost on me. Sitting next to me
Two of my long-range goals are to spread the joy of playing music and to make a difference in this world through research and development of environment-friendly technology. Continuance of my education in music is essential for me to become more proficient as a musician, and through this journey I will have more opportunities to share the joy I experience through music. Likewise, academic training in a STEM field, specifically engineering, will allow me to move in the direction of developing technology that will sustain the environment for future generations as well as harness renewable energy thus minimizing our negative footprint on Earth.
George Mason University has augmented my passion for marine mammal conservation studies during my time completing my undergraduate degree in Biology with a concentration in Environmental and Conservation Biology. Thus far, I have completed a variety of classes directly related to the field of study that I want to pursue for my professional career beyond this university. These classes include Marine Conservation, Environmental Communication, Conservation Biology, Animal Behavior, and Animal Communication and Social Behavior. For all these concentrated classes I have received a grade of an A. I value the undergraduate education that George Mason University has supplied me with and therefore wish to pursue a higher degree at George Mason University.
I was born in Victoria, Texas. Being raised in South Florida, I’ve been around a variety of cultures and diverse people all my life. I am mu-lingual (English / Spanish) and I am conversational in Italian. Attending Somerset Academy Charter since kindergarten is one of the reasons I am who I am today. Somerset Academy is a school that makes each student feel important, valued and part of a school community. I have always had the opportunity to speak up and reach out to my peers for any help and advice needed. The Somerset Academy community has shaped me into being a dedicated student and has allowed me to build mentoring relationships with many of my professors. Another reason I am the person I am today is because of my parents and the empowerment afforded to me. I come from a family that has instilled in me the significance of an education and a strong work ethic. They have also taught me the importance of freedom of choice and accountability for those choices. My parents have always stressed that an education is paramount to attain a
I expect a great deal from my time with Virginia Commonwealth University Honors College. I enjoy that I will have an adviser that truly cares about my wellbeing and education, and I believe this will help me succeed as I pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. I hope to become close with the faculty and staff of the Honors College as I strive towards my ultimate goal of becoming a Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon. Although I plan to commute to and from VCU for classes rather than stay on campus, the Honors College dorms are an extreme luxury provided to those students that are qualified. I also am ecstatic about the special classes and curriculum that is available to Honors students. I am pursuing VCU in an attempt to further my education, and I believe the Honors College is my best opportunity to do so. I look forward to exploring all the Honors College has to offer, and I hope it will help me to become a better student, graduate, and person all around.
Despite my enrollment on Blinn TEAM, I took advantage of many opportunities that otherwise only those who are fully enrolled at Texas A&M would take. I am a member of the Corps of Cadets, a New Student Conference Orientation Leader, and a student worker on the Texas A&M campus. All of these experiences have exposed me to lessons, hardships, and joys that I do not regret going through for a single second.
I am writing to express my interest in the biology teaching position at Bard High School Early College (BHSEC). I am currently holding a New York City initial certification in adolescent biology education as well as a Master degree in Biology. I have experience teaching at a high school as well as a college level. I believe that my experience and qualification is a great fit for this position.
Growing up in a small fishing town afforded me the opportunity to see water in a far different perspective than most. Our waterways acted as food source and livelihood while providing a venue for recreation and aesthetic enjoyment. Because of this, a deep respect for water and environment gripped me at an early age. My fascination with water continued to flourish as I grew and watched my hometown battle both natural and man-made disasters. I actively participated in coastal recovery efforts after many hurricanes and even the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Truly sobering moments come when one is standing center-stage of a disaster realizing how something as seemingly endless as water becomes so quickly scarce. These firsthand experiences piqued my initial interest in water resources and conservation sparking many questions about spatio-temporal patterns in the realm of ecosystem services. These personal factors were a major influence on my decision to apply for enrollment in the Earth Sciences Department at the
Since I was fifteen I have always been drawn to answering important questions, engaging in meaningful discussions, and touching lives in intentional and personal ways. My favourite thing to do is disciple; engage in authentic conversations about life, relationships, and Jesus through a mixture of counseling, mentoring, and teaching. I have been intrigued by philosophy and theology since high school. Since then I did my undergraduate degree at Summit Pacific College, close to where I live so that I could help my family build our new house, while preparing to impact my world for Christ. At Summit, I earned a BA in Religion, with a major in Biblical Theology. In this major I took exegetical coursework, first year Hebrew and Greek, and was prepared for Graduate studies with a thesis course.
I am thrilled to be attending UW-River Falls in the fall. There are so many experiences I wish to explore while attending. I feel there is a lot I can bring to the campus and very excited to get to know new people. My mom is an optometrist which has sparked an interest for me to become an ophthalmologist. I know becoming a medical professional is not an easy task, but I am sure I can do it if I work hard enough.
I always have enjoyed learning Mathematics and have been fascinated by Business. This interest has led me to pursue my future study and career in the field of Business Analytics. At this stage, I am filled with genuine pleasure and profound optimism to submit this personal statement in support of my application for continuing my education at George Washington University.
I fell in love with politics at the age of 10, the year was 2004, and I liked John Kerry because he shared my name. I also supported him because my father, at the time, was supporting George W. Bush and I was a rather antagonistic child. Over time I’ve certainly become more nuanced in the candidates I support, but that year began a lifetime journey into a field that is ever changing, ever competitive, and that impacts so many lives.
I have chosen Notre Dame as the place I wish to study at as I really believe that the values they instill into each student as they complete their journey here are really valuable and can be implemented later on throughout my life and my career. The amount of clinical practice hours the Nursing students get really appealed to me as I learn best when I’m doing the task hands on. When I first went to have a look around the campus I could see how excited and happy the Notre Dame community and current students were about sharing their own experiences here and they made my first experience incredibly enjoyable and memorable. They encouraged my decisions and fed my passions which was nothing that I had ever experienced before at school.
When I was an adolescent, I considered myself to be a shy, introverted person. Growing up, I had always admired my father’s adaptability through obstacles, but it wasn’t until high school that I discovered I had similar qualities of my own. During my sophomore year, my father was brought into the hospital for having five Abdominal Hernias as well as Hypertension, he was immediately brought into surgery and remained at the hospital for weeks. Each day, I visited my father at the hospital for hours and took care of my father's work at home. I also maintained my performance and reputation at school, balancing my many rigorous courses, as well as my multifarious extracurricular activities.
“Yale is the place that endowed me with the confidence and the grand scope of the world that a young designer needed to excel and make a difference in the real world.” – Yansong Ma. Yale University (M.Arch ’02).
