Looking Out By Robert Frost

Friends from far away are now connected with the use of the Internet, the internet is a wonderful place to stay connected with family and friends, I use it to stay in contact with my friend Ray that’s going to Cal Poly. Nevertheless, sometimes it can be distracting while I’m hanging out with my cousins, but now people communicate through screens and it’s like a custom and people use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and messaging to do all our “communicating”, but communicating from technology doesn’t show the person 's emotions “Studies show that only 7% of communication is based on the written or verbal word. A whopping 93% is based on nonverbal body language” (Tardanico). The author, Tardanico, experiences that when her daughter attempted suicide, she talked to her before the incident, she seemed happy and she couldn’t notice her body language and, therefore, realize that she had depression. Communicating with, a person can only be from one way and that’s from face to face talking because individuals can notice what’s happening with the person, however using technology to talk to the person.

Facial Expression: The facial expression such as happiness, sadness, anger and fear helps a lot in conveying a message. These facial expressions are similar all over the world but non- verbal communication and behaviour varies hugely between the cultures in the world.Since the look on a person’s face is noticed , before we hear ,facial expression contributes a lot in a successfully non-verbal communication .

In Affect - A basic Summary of approaches, Andrew Murphie puts forth thought on the concept of affect and how it directly correlates with the language. Affect is described as what occurs right before one becomes aware of how they are feeling, and thus turning that feeling into an emotion. That being true, affect is moment to moment and is constantly changing, for emotion is continually being altered in order for one to be fully present in every point in time. Affect comes and goes instantaneously, for at the instant when it comes, one makes an effort to put affect into words, turning the affect into a feeling or emotion and it is gone. Affect cannot be put into language, but it is always something that will be with one. That being said, one cannot describe one’s affect to another. Though, by trying to talk about one’s affect, one must speak about the instant that created said affect, and by expressing one’s thoughts about their moment to moment experience, one can try to evoke a similar experience in another’s mind.

"Out, Out," by Robert Frost is a gruesomely graphic and emotional poem about the tragic end of a young boy's life. It is a powerful expression about the fragility of life and the fact that death can come at any time. Death is always devastating, but it is even more so when the victim is just a young boy. The fact that the boy's death came right before he could " Call it a day" (750) leads one to think the tragedy might have been avoided and there by forces the reader to think, "What if." This poem brings the question of mortality to the reader's attention and shows that death has no age limit.

In today’s modern view, poetry has become more than just paragraphs that rhyme at the end of each sentence. If the reader has an open mind and the ability to read in between the lines, they discover more than they have bargained for. Some poems might have stories of suffering or abuse, while others contain happy times and great joy. Regardless of what the poems contains, all poems display an expression. That very moment when the writer begins his mental journey with that pen and paper is where all feelings are let out. As poetry is continues to be written, the reader begins to see patterns within each poem. On the other hand, poems have nothing at all in common with one another. By paying attention to body language, facial expressions and speech tones and being aware of our own feelings we are able to examine our own communication and behaviours and reflect on how we can improve ourselves. In addition, dealing with emotions allows people to feel the emotions as they arise within each person. When a person feels angry, they should allow themselves to feel that anger, and vent it out in some form or the other, without causing any harm to others. Every thought that a human being has is flooded with emotion. An emotion is a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. You can’t simply think without pulling your emotions into your thought process. There are four basic emotions with hundreds of sub emotions that come off of them. Humans are hardwired to feel every single one of those emotions. They are coursing through our brain every moment. Poetry is little lines of pure emotion. When a reader reads and understands these lines, it is like peering into the author's soul.

Poems are the most simplistic way to express one’s feelings and beliefs through writing. Poets mostly try express love, loss, death, some may speak from their own experience or for the sake of their characters who tend to be quite sophisticated. They tend to write about these 3 topics commonly due to the fact that practically everyone has experienced this sort of emotion. Poetry has existed since man could write, to Aristotle, to Victorian times and now to the present day where it is internationally used. Poems are now used to promote movements for the benefit of the world, varying from poverty to the sustainability of the environment; of which most have been successful due to poetry being able to connect with the reader, even if they are not in the same situation. However they are still able to feel what their character is feeling and what state of mind they are in. Poems also tend to be short so that the reader does not loose concentration nor loose the power of the poem, but instead the poet chooses to write to a short limithowever they choose their words carefully so that the reader will be intrigued and contemplated the whole way through the poem however leave the poembeing fascinated.

One of the most important concepts of humanity is Interpersonal communication. Our communication skills vary from one person to the next. There are many ways that we communicate in society with one another. Communication consists of verbal or nonverbal communication. Each individual has a unique style to communicate with society that it’s made up of diversity. Emotions are powerful feelings that may change the emotional well-being of a person. Emotions range from the feeling of joy, happiness, fear, sadness, anger, hate. Feelings will define the happy life journey of one person or the destruction of another.

We speak not only from our words but from our expressions. Many time, these expressions are unknown and are just caught upon from our surroundings. Our brain takes in this information and we do not really know how these expressions developed. In our day to day verbal activities, we follow up with so many non-verbal ques like the sounds we make following our words, or the way we pronounce these words. The use of pitch and pace of our voice and words to make interesting conversations. The clothing we wear based on the social norms we follow or just based on our culture or traditions. The use of our distance to known and unknown people. The use of eye contact to express the level of intensifications, the actual emphasis of the emotion running in the brain at the time. The uses of pauses in our speech and the judging of the expressions on other peoples faces. Misjudging of emotions carried along with another emotion because of the lack of understanding of mixed emotions, to give which emotion the priority during that situation. His literary work communicates deep meaning through the use of metaphoric language and deception.
