German technology, including weapons and armament exceeded that of the allied forces and provided Germany with a greater advantage during times of conflict. There were two critical developments in WWII that helped shape the outcome of the war, one of them being the hoax of secrecy systems to protect national security concerns and the scientific intelligence programs. The book Lord of the Flies was written by well-known English author William Golding in 1954. The book is about a group of boys during the WWII era, who survive a plane crash on a tropical island. The boys subsequently created a society which governed everyday life, assigned duties, responsibilities and established an overall leader. The close relations that developed between scientist and the government were just as important as the actual technology that shaped the outcome of the war. During the middle 1940s there was a lot going on in the world. This includes World War two coming to an end after the United States use of the atomic bomb on Japan, most of Europe in shambles from battles and the Russia or now called Soviet Union (USSR) turning to communism. One may think how technology could advance at such a time. Well during war a lot of pressure is put on countries to supply resources. These resources are very expensive and force citizens not going off to fight in the war to work and help supply for the war. This can also have positive effects on the economic and technological development of these countries. Wars are expensive but they do accelerate technological advancements/developments to solve specific military needs. These devices are then later implied for everyday use. The cold war is a great example of this even know there was no physical war. The science and technology that was discovered during the cold war has primarily helped drive technology to where it is today.
While the Germans had the upper hand in technology, this condition did have its drawbacks. This advanced weaponry was costly to manufacture, so the German Army could not afford to produce them in large quantities. On top of that, this new weaponry was also more difficult to repair and maintain, which reduced its efficiency even further (Stewart, 6).
William Golding wrote Lord of the Flies in 1954. It tells the story of a group of young boys who are stranded on a previously uninhabited island with no adults around to save them. Golding used the idea of an island as a blank canvas backdrop in several ways which greatly enhance the effectiveness of the story.

The years of World War II were tumultuous times. Death ravaged countries across the world, and aggression infected every international interaction. However, during those years, some of the most influential inventions in history were formed. Some of these inventions were purely helpful, some purely harmful. An example of each kind of invention respectively would be penicillin and the atomic bomb. Though penicillin is objectively more beneficial than the atomic bomb, both inventions had a major impact on society and led to developments in the world that may not have happened otherwise.

The novel is about a group of young British school boys who find themselves deserted on an island in the Pacific Ocean and are forced to fight for themselves. This has a unique symbolism of characters and the events. The boys on the island let the fear of something inside of them be in control. In the story, there are lots of events that take place and characters that take part.
