After learning these two ruler’s stories, I found that they were pretty similar. They both were keen on the idea of power, had problems with another form of ruling government, and they both brought along battles with their reign. Also, they were both beheaded for treason. Though they were similar, they were also different. While Louis opposed the idea of giving over partial power ever, Charles let go of some power multiple times, even if it was only for his own benefit. Also, while Louis fled with his family, Charles wouldn’t show any fear. Even as they brought him to be executed, he wore a thick cotton shirt in order to keep from shivering, and ultimately showing a sign of weakness to the people watching. Which, I think is very sad! King Louis
King Louis XVI loved his country, even if it was in ruins which he was trying to fix, and even though unfortunately he was not the strongest ruler that does not mean King Louis XVI committed treason against France. He was wrongly persecuted for something he did not commit, treason is the crime of trying to overthrow your country's government or of helping your country's enemies during war, not fleeing from an unsafe home. King Louis XVI was innocent of treason because he actively tried to fix problems in the country, even though sometimes the outcomes of his solutions weren't perfect. He was a significant monarch with the way he affected the French Revolution as a
In today’s society the majority of the crimes are still being committed by people who have possessed a firearm that has been obtained illegally or without proper permits. That being said there has been a strong push for gun control because of the rise of shootings involving a large group of people such as the Columbine massacre, Virginia Tech shooting and latest Aurora movie theater shooting involving people who have purchased firearms legally. Gun control laws in the United States have been established for many years but to maintain a civilized society with limited crime stronger control laws need to be enforced in which will help reduce crime in our country. Establishing stronger gun control laws will educate
In today’s American society, the every day lives and routines of American citizens are impacted, affected, and ruled by the government. By studying the lives of people beginning in eighteenth century France, it is easy to see how the ruling government system impacts the everyday lives and routines of it‘s citizens. It is also easy to compare this society to the European civilization under the rule of Napoleon I, the American civilization under the rule of Woodrow Wilson, and Adolf Hitler.
Who was King Henry VIII and who was King Louis XIV? How are they different and similar to each other? Well, one thing for sure, both of these rulers were Roman Catholics. Henry ruled England from 1491 to 1547 and Louis ruled France from 1643 to 1715. This essay analyzes the differences and the similarities between these two Roman Catholic kings. Henry VIII, compared to Louis XIV, was overall a ruthless monarch who wasn’t afraid to show off his greediness, abuse his power, or influence others with his clever political strategies. Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history (1643-1715). During this time he brought absolute monarchy to its height, established a huge and grand palace.
The first reason Louis Riel should be viewed as a hero is due to his noble acts at the Red River Settlement. Louis Riel continued to respect the English people despite their attempt at taking over his land. He allowed the English people to become part of the provisional government he created. He also, gave them an equal number of representatives even though they were in the minority. Furthermore, Louis Riel helped Manitoba to become a province and join the Confederation. That happened since if Louis Riel had never stopped the English people from taking over the Red River settlement, Manitoba would have never been formed. Louis Riel also sent Father Ritchot to Ottawa in order to discuss the creation of Manitoba with John A. Macdonald.
I think with all that has happened and since he has changed, he should not have to go to jail. He should have to apologize to Peter and then move on with his life because now Cole is healed and he knows now how it feels to get hurt by someone bigger and stronger than him.
VIII on England grew up as a very strong Catholic, at the insistence of his
Louis finds himself on the floor of his room, crying, when his last pair of jeans -jeggings really- don’t fit anymore. The button popped right off when he finally got it in through the hole. Twins or not, he’s just nine weeks; it’s too early to be wearing maternity clothes. In a fit, he tosses the stupid button at the wall, yelping when it ricochets back and hits him on the head.
8/23/1754, King Louis was born. He came up in full fitness but he was very shy. French noblemen taught him, and he also studied religion, morality, and humanities. Louis loved physical activities like hunting and wrestling, at an early age he took delight in locksmithing that became a life-long hobby. Louis parents gave little notice to him, because their attention was on his 9 year older brother that passed away. So on December 20, 1765, Louis farther died from tuberculosis, afterwards at the age of 11 Louis became Dauphin. Louis mother never came around from the family loses and also was taken by 3/13/1767 from tuberculosis.
Although Louis XIV, also known as Louis the Great, brought death and destruction through his wars, there are many positive aspects of his reign, such as the creation of Versailles and the building of France’s national army. He did what had never been done before. He changed the lifestyle and the attitude of France by creating one of the most powerful monarchies ever to be built and at the same time, reassured all the nobility and other wealthy groups of their political and social standings. He made it clear that he was the final decision maker yet he still needed the help of the nobility and other authorities.
Some people think that King Louis XIV did more harm to France than good. They cite his lack of moderation in managing his money. They also point out that Louis denied religious liberties to the Protestants of France and tightened control over his Roman Catholic subjects by revoking the Edict of Nantes. They also claim Louis’ war efforts were very costly and drained the treasury of France. Some say his arrogance, including his emblem of the “Sun King”, turned “his” people away from him. They think that Louis only cared about himself and what he wanted and didn’t think about future France.
Louis XIV had a passion for glory and used it to fight four wars because he was motivated by personal and dynastic considerations.
Growing up, there are countless young boys, who have the dream of someday being a professional football or baseball player. Going outside and letting the imagination of being on the big stage and making the final pitch to win the World Series or the final Hail Mary throw to win the Super bowl. As a young kid, the dream of one day being the best and be paid to play a sport they grew up loving and playing. Although the sports of football and baseball are both very popular, there are a substantial amount of differences between
Charles views the French revolution as too bloody. People are becoming like the rich, and not valuing people’s lives – exactly the opposite of what they were trying to get out of this revolution. They acted like crazy bloodthirsty animals, “the men were terrible, in the bloody-minded anger with which they looked from windows, caught up what arms they had, and came pouring down into the streets…” all the people thought about was killing all the rich ones, making them pay. Charles finds the violence, degrading the peasants to the sick level of the people.
After being ruled by a prime minister for so long, France needed some changes. That is exactly what Louis the XIV would bring to France. In an age of separation, Louis wanted to start a unification process. He started this by giving himself sole power and also only having one religion for the country. The king is always the center of attention good or bad. Louis was prepared to take the good with the bad, and handled it well. He emphasized the king as the center of attention. While some see him as egotistical and greedy, Louis was one king who knew how to make improvements.
