I can honestly say that I have no idea where I would be today if I did not enroll into Tennessee Tech back in 2012, it was the best decision I have ever made. I came from a small town in East Tennessee and was not very involved in school or my community back at home. Being at Tech, I had so many opportunities to get involved and better Tennessee Tech and the community of Cookeville. Over my years at Tech was able to be president of TTU Habitat for Humanity, be on the Sustainable Campus committee, co-found a new club on campus (The Evergreen Society), be a peer mentor for freshmen, and be a Student Telecounseling Admissions Representative.

College for most people is there first step into the real world. Most people get a job for the first time to living on their own. This is a time to make friends that will be your friends for a lifetime. College is a “choice” as Dale J. Stephens says, and he is right but going to college will make someone that much more influenced throughout life. Even the cost is what people let stop them from going but in the end everything cost money in this world and this money is using to better yourself.

I am Taylor Goody, an eighteen year old, Caucasian female, and I was born in Fort Hood, Texas. Including me, there are four people in my family, my mom, dad, and brother, and we are a middle class family. My mom is an administrative assistant, and my dad is a paramedic. My high school experience was good and bad, but it shaped me into being the person I am today. I have gained many friendships and memories because of high school, and they all made me a better person. Georgia Southern University was one of my top choices for college. It is close to home, and I loved the atmosphere of the campus when I visited. I had friends who go here tell me how enjoyable their time spent here had been, and it influenced my decision greatly.

One of the most influential factors of why I choose Tulane was how involved the school was in the surrounding community. Service learning is necessary in the development of a student. Giving back and supporting your community is one of the best ways to learn about yourself, while also doing something that helps a bigger cause than yourself. Spending two hours a week at Crocker Prep School makes an immense impact on all of the students that we work with, the reaction on the students face when you walk into the class is amazing. Participating in service-learning has also taught my who to deal with conflicts and life skills that I would not been able to learn if I didn’t have this

I would like to attend Heartland Technical Academy because I feel as if it would be a great opportunity to get a head start on college. Completing tech would be a great accomplishment to put on college applications. I have many family members who have taken classes through Tech. A college is a form of education that gives us knowledge, power and increase skills to our desire subject. There are a plenty of benefits to go to a college education. Some might think to ensure a good job they need a degree and then go to college, but college also has some key features.Here, a student can find themselves what they don't know before and find their way what they want in practical life. My biggest reason that persuaded me to want to go to Tulane was its location. The location of Tulane is in New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans is an amazing place to go to and should be on everyone's bucket list. That place has everything you can think of and there's so many people and places, it’s just an overall amazing place. One good thing about Tulane is the financial aid given to students who are qualified. They give out at an average of $30,000 for just their scholarship aids. This played quite a big role in picking my top college choices. Another reason for Tulane as my third choice is there track team is not as good as UCLA’s track team. Also Tulane has no soccer team so that's not a plus because if I don't do good in soccer later on in my high school soccer career then I can fall to track to get me a scholarship. First of all, if I do not attend to college, I will have a limited amount of skills and concepts I could teach to my children. For instance, if I attend to college, I can teach my children more advanced mathematical skills, literature skills, how to express thoughts clearly, and countless of other skills as well. Also, I will not be the best example I could be for my children. College skills will be essential on and off my job. Furthermore, not attending to college will cause me to be mentally weaker than a person who is attending to college. Obtaining more knowledge will cause me to be a wiser person and increase my potential. Knowledge is power, for I can achieve anything I want to achieve in life with it. One plus one equals two. Mathematics is simple like that. Or at least that’s what I thought. As I grew older and my classes grew more advanced, I realized that math was so much more. Math is about problem solving, understanding patterns, and observing to find answers. It is one of the most complex concepts yet it can be as simple as one plus one equals two. Caltech can be the same way. In its own intricate way, the teachers and students, classes, and clubs make up a complex system that stimulates students’ minds but in another light, Caltech is simply one of the best engineering schools. To be truthful, what initially interested me about Georgia Tech was the rankings. Georgia Tech was unbeatable compared to the other colleges in the area. However, that changed when I visited during one of the College of Science's sessions. During the visit, I had the blessing of being able to attend an Introductory biology class, and I was truly amazed at the dedication and awareness that those students had about the world around them. They were studying the case of Molly Nash and her disease Fanconi Anemia, and the student that I was sitting next to offered to let me participate and work with her.
