Integrated Research Paper Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the world’s most prominent composer and pianist, and his work is continually being used, even hundreds of years after they were written. Beethoven was born around December 16th, 1770 in Bonn, Germany, and his life was effected by a lot of hardships. First, his father was known for his alcoholism, and he tended to be brutal in teaching Beethoven music. According to the Biography website, “Beethoven's father began teaching him music with an extraordinary rigor and brutality that affected him for the rest of his life. Neighbors provided accounts of the small boy weeping while he played the clavier, standing atop a footstool to reach the keys, his father beating him for each hesitation or mistake” (Biography.com). Beethoven faced a life of cruelty from his father on a daily basis, because his father wanted to raise the next Mozart. Beethoven had left for Vienna several times in his life, but when he finally managed to leave Bonn, Beethoven was able to study the greatest composer alive at that time, Joseph Haydn. During this time, Beethoven studied piano was Haydn, vocals with Antonio Salieri, and counterpoint with Johann Albrechtsberger. When Beethoven was at a high in his career, in the process of composing great works, he learned he was starting to go deaf.
