Scandals and Success: The LBJ Story.
When couples get married, they typically sleep in the same bed, or at least the same room as their significant other. Lyndon B. Johnson and his wife Claudia Alta, better known as Lady Bird Johnson, slept in a different beds and even different bedrooms while they were in the White House. This sleeping arrangement was very convenient for President Johnson (O’Brien). Today I will be informing you more about this as well as Lyndon B. Johnson’s events leading up to his presidency, his presidency, and his accomplishments.
The first thing I will inform you about is all of the events leading up to Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidency starting with Johnson's life before “fame.” Which then leads into the path to his presidency.

Johnson became to thirty-sixth President of the United States when his predecessor John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas with only one year left in his term. When Johnson took office the United States was still immersed in the Vietnam War. When taking over as President, Johnson kept almost all of Kennedy’s Cabinet members. Which included Robert “Bobby” Kennedy, who, for lack of a better word, hated Lyndon Johnson. Since Johnson was not involved in any of the decisions about the war, keeping all the cabinet members help him deal with all the situations (O’Brien). Being the successor to President Kennedy does not count as Lyndon Johnson's first term as president, but since Johnson was so popular with the nation, he decided to run in his first presidential election as the democratic candidate. His campaign ended up being successful. This led him to obtaining his first elected presidential term.
President Johnson dominated the 1964 election and chose Hubert Humphrey as his Vice-President (O’Brien). Most everyone says that Lady Bird was the key to Johnson success in this election. She started the Head Start Education program and also aimed a lot of efforts towards the beautification of highways (Pruitt).
Johnson gave his Inaugural Address on January 20, 1965. In his address he talks about about the United States and their plan to go to Mars, he also talks about changes in Justice, Union, and Liberty

Lyndon B. Johnson had only served one term, but he surprisingly accomplished a lot during his only term. Johnson had the ability to pass the acts that Kennedy created during his time in office. Some of these accomplishments include: Medicare and Medicaid, Education acts, and the Civil Rights acts. In order to continue his war on poverty, he established Medicare and Medicaid to aid poor families and the elderly. To further help families in need, as well as children, Johnson passed education acts to fix and create more public schools in poor areas. Lastly, civil rights acts were passed to give better opportunities for blacks within the United States. While these acts were based on Kennedy's ideas, Johnson found the way to put them into place.
