M-Energy: Hawking Away From Black Holes

Decent Essays

M-Energy (Magical Energy) is the idea that the energy that a black hole emits millions of years after consuming an object is the “stardust” that humans are made of. Muggles call M-Energy Hawking Radiation; Stephen Hawking theorized that things that pass a black hole’s event horizon, “the point of no return,” do return with lots and lots of time. The accuracy of this claim about whether things can ever escape from a black hole is yet to be proven. But if it is true (and Hawking is literally a genius), the energy expelled from black holes is not what gives certain people the ability to do magic. In other words, M-Energy (Magic Energy) does not exist, although it is unknown if the same can be said for its Muggle name. One might argue that Hawking Radiation and M-Energy are two names for the same thing, so if one does not exist, the other cannot, either. But wizards created a cure for the common cold—the Pepperup Potion—while Muggles have not; why cannot the opposite be true? The events in Wizarding and Muggle …show more content…

There are genes for eye color, hair color, etc., but there is a recessive gene for magical ability. There are more Muggles than there are witches and wizards. Muggle-borns have a magical or a Squib ancestor. A given person may be a witch, but her sister may be a Muggle, as in the case of Lily and Petunia Evans. It is a matter of which gene one has. Squibs have the gene for magic, having received the ability from both parents as is required for a recessive gene to be activated), but it is divergent. Some consider it to be “damaged,” holding them in contempt, pity, prejudice, and hatred because of the way they were born. If black hole emissions were the reason people can do magic, if all humans are made from stardust, why cannot every human cast spells? The M-Energy Theory does not take into account non-human beings such as centaurs, grindylows, and house-elves, all of which have some ability for
