This is my M&M spreadsheet. The whole hypothesis which colors in M&M bag has the most and we collects our data by counting each color in each bag. The whole class came to a conclusion that there are more blue in M&M bags. This charts proves our hypothesis wrong. Overall, it was an interactive assignment.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if cats have a color preference. I wanted to do this experiment because I took an interest in my cat’s vision. My hypothesis was that my cat would prefer the color blue. I used 5 different colored balls of yarn. They were placed in the same spots and sequence each time. I conducted this experiment for a total of four-weeks. I set my cat up behind a line of painter’s tape and let her approach a yarn ball and play with it. I recorded how many times she approached each color. At the end of the experiment I discovered that my hypothesis was not supported. My cat chose to play with the yarn colored black rather than
The vice-president at M&M and Mars who is in charge of the blue M&Ms claimed that eating blue M&Ms can improve memory. He has asked a group of researchers to test whether blue M&Ms can improve memory. The researchers have designed an experiment to test whether or not this theory is accurate. Researchers have come up with a memory test to test the memories of participants by using blue M&Ms. The test asks each participant to memorize a list of numbers. Then, the data will be analyzed to see whether or not blue M&Ms improved their memory. The hypothesis that the researchers came up with is as follows: If people consume blue M&Ms, the short-term memory of high school students will be improved according to a visual numbers test.

Select one (1) project from your working or educational environment that you would use the hypothesis test technique. Next, propose the hypothesis structure (e.g., the null hypothesis, data collection process, confidence interval, test statistics, reject or not reject the decision, etc.) for the business process of the selected project. Provide a rationale for your response.
2. This experiment is not able to support Matthew's hypothesis. Suggest specific improvements that will allow the experiment to more effectively test the given hypothesis. Explain why these changes are improvements.
Explain how the data collected will provide the data necessary to support or negate the hypothesis or proposition
The pill bugs lab was done to solve the problem of which type of food the pill bugs preferred, cucumber of pepperoni. My hypothesis was that the pill bugs will favor cucumber over pepperoni. In order to carry out this experiment, we used the chamber method to determine which food was favored by the pill bugs. Pieces of cucumber and pepperoni were placed on each end. Then five pill bugs were placed in each chamber, and their movement was observed and recorded. Because the results were so close to each other, we concluded that their reaction to the stimulus was a kinesis reaction, and it is only random. My hypothesis was not true because the standard error from the number of pill bugs in cucumber chamber and pepperoni chamber overlapped. This means that there is no scientific reason for why the pill bugs chose cucumber over pepperoni. I learned many new things in this experiment, such as, how to use a choice chamber, and how to calculate the standard deviation and error of the data. Also, I learned how pill bugs react to an outside threat.
One of the causes of OCD that researchers have found in patients with this mental illness is that they have low amounts of serotonin, specifically in the brain. Typically in a healthy brain information is processed through the nervous system via network and chemical signals. These signals are carried along and between the nerve cells, and through the synapses. This brain chemical is responsible for maintaining one's mood balance. Some of these moods are: anxiety, happiness, sadness, and anger characteristic. Unfortunately, those with OCD go through a chemical change causing them to have low amounts of serotonin. The effect that this chemical change has on an individual brain is that they will produce more fear-related neurotransmitter instead
My hypothesis was If I test the number of pennies required to sink boats with three volumes then the the one with the most volume then the boat with the most volume will require the most pennies to sink the
The title of my science project is "Half Baked". My problem was some of the cookie sheets take longer to cook rather than the others. My hypothesis is that I thought that the insulated aluminium cookie sheet would be the most effective in cooking the cookies. My procedure was first, I gathered the materials that I was going to use, next I preheated the oven, Then I observed the cookies and recorded the results and analyed the data and came to a conclusion. I used different types of cookie sheets and set the cookies on for 12 minutes each and recorded how long each cookie took to fully cook. In conclusion the insulated cookie sheet was the most effective and took a shorter time
I plan to prove that the majority of people that invest money into footwear do so because of style. People usually don’t choose a pair of shoes because of comfort, color, or any other means at all. They usually base their decision of purchasing a pair of shoes on style. There are three tools that I will use during this experiment that will help me out. These tools will be comprised of surveys, interviews, and observations. Through survey’s I will have a sheet of paper with approximately eight questions on it. These questions range from the subjects personal preference when it comes to purchasing a pair of shoes. Whether they do it for comfort, style, color, work related, price, or
For my infographic project, this year, I have researched and studied the impact of video game towards the time children spend doing homework. My main goal was to understand if video games act as a negative distraction towards children and if they prevent children from getting their work done. To collect all my data and, be able to answer my question, I employed both in person and online surveys. I spent a week going around my neighborhood asking both parents and children to answer a survey that I created. I later organized all my data and created an infographic that I used to diagram my data and summarize my conclusion.
Introduction- As the students entered the math lab and took their seats, they noticed the three different vases at the front of the room with colored water. The students automatically new something scientific was about to take place and they were immediately excited. The students were instructed to examine the glasses and make a prediction as to whether the vases contained an equal amount or different amounts of water. As soon as I told them, they could head to the front to examine the vases, they rushed up and were eager to look. After a few minutes of observation, they students were instructed to write how they knew if there were equal or unequal amounts of water within the vase. This was to prepare us to a discussion. We then took a vote
The purpose of any spreadsheet model is to organize and categorize large amounts of information into an easily readable form. We were tasked with obtaining the current U.S. Treasury Yield Curve and then, in a separate task, finding the price and yield to maturity of coupons based on the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and Effective Annual Rate (EAR). Specifically, our spreadsheet model graphs thirteen different Treasury bills and Treasury bonds with maturity dates spanning from one month to thirty years in the form of a Yield Curve and Forward Rate Curve. We found the price and yield to maturity from a given example, which allowed us to exchange data from the real world and visualize its effects. By doing so, we used Excel methods and calculations that introduced us to financial modeling. The concepts we learned through Excel modeling is a transferrable skill which can be used in a real world context as it is used in this assignment.
