The Maasai believe in one God whom they call Ngai and Ngai is the creator of all things. As Ngai created the world he split existence into the earth and the sky. Initially, all the cattle were in the sky with Ngai, but could not remain up there because the cows needed grass for survival. Therefore, Nagai sent the cattle to the Maasai through a rope created by a root from a fig tree. The Maasai were chosen as the protectors and gaurdians of cattle and were the first persons to receive all the cattle currently in the world (Issitt 307). According to Maasai, Dorobo, a warrior from another ethnic group cut the rope out of anger that his people did not receive any cattle from God and this produced a separation between sky and earth and stopped
A molcajete (mo̞lkaˈxe̞te̞ or mol-cah-hay’-tay; Mexican Spanish, from Nahuatl molcaxitl)[needs IPA] is a stone tool, the traditional Mexican version of the mortar and pestle,[1] similar to the South American batan, used for grinding various food product. The molcajete was used by pre-Hispanic Mesoamerican cultures, including the Aztec and Maya, stretching back several thousand years. Traditionally carved out of a single block of vesicular basalt, molcajetes are typically round in shape and supported by three short legs. They are frequently decorated with the carved head of an animal on the outside edge of the bowl, giving the molcajete the appearance of a short, stout, three-legged animal. The pig is the most common animal head used for decoration
“The rebel pulled the trigger, and like lightning, i saw the spark of fire that came from the muzzle” In this simile Ishmael explains how fast the rebel pulled the trigger and how quick a bullet can really go.
Sacajawea is a well-known American-Indian woman. Her expedition with explorers Lewis and Clark was extraordinary. She was born in Tendoy, Idaho around 1788. She was a member of the Lemhi Shoshone tribe. At this time, the American territory ended at the Mississippi River. One year after the Louisiana Purchase, President Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on an expedition that left from St. Louis, Missouri, traveling through the US Northwest, to the Pacific Ocean (History).
The Tuscarora lived in North Carolina along the coastal river, their peaceful ways and unlimited amount of patience earned them nothing but abuse from the colonists (Axelrod 60). One day a Swiss Entrepreneur, Baron Christoph von Graffenreid wanted to take control of land that had been occupied with the Tuscarora village. Instead of Graffenreid talking with the Indians who were presently on the land, he decided to speak with North Carolinas surveyor general; who decided to vote in favor of Baron Christoph von Graffenreid deciding that the settlers, “held clear title to the land” (Axelrod 58). Graffenreid decided to drive the Indians off of their own land on September 22, 1711 the Indians were left with no other option but to attack (Axelrod

It has been 60 years since we have last record the events in the Nacirema culture and now researches today are baffled by the culture of the young Nacirema children. For example these young are spending day and night with their noses in these light boxes. Day after day, night after night these children love to stare at these hand size light boxes. We don’t exactly know what’s so entertaining about the light or the box, but we see them laugh, smile, cry, and get angry while looking into the light boxes. The older generation of the Nacirema indicates a great display of disapproval of them, but hypocritically many of them spend almost just as much time viewing into the light boxes as well.

Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur Oklahoma is a place where many families go to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. What many may not know is that the waters in this area were a treasured resource even before statehood. Native Americans were the first to speak of the wonderous health benefits of the water and after the arrival of the white man the preservation of this area would become an issue not only for the Native Americans who discovered it but also for the settlers who viewed it as an opportunity to become rich. Acquisition of this land would lead to the founding of Oklahoma’s first and last National Park. Originally named Platt National Park, the birth of this area has given way to years of enjoyment for its patrons, and it has carried in its waters a rich history of Native Americans, the federal government, and a rowdy group of enterprising settlers.
One thing about the news today that my Mawmaw has noticed is how it has changed so much since she was young. If there was a shooting or a tragedy, it was a rare occasion. Today, a major crime happens weekly. From the church shooting in Georgia, to the explosion in France, and, just recently, the shooting in Colorado at the abortion clinic all happened within months of each other. She especially recognizes how the devil is attacking young people of today.
Hawaii, translated from the ancient Hawaiian language should mean paradise because that's what it is. Hawaii has a climate that varies only several degrees in temperature year round and the sun always shines. The rainy season is in January, but it isn't so rainy that it deters visitors. In fact, winter is one of the most popular times of year to visit Hawaii. This is probably because it is cold and dreary just about everywhere else in the United States. Hawaii makes for the perfect getaway for Californians because it is only about a three-hour flight.
Possibly the place with the highest concentration of music history in all of Kansas City. 1823 Highland is a small building where jazz music once lived daily; The Mutual Musicians Foundation, or “The Foundation,” has been a home to everything musical. The Jazz style pioneered and fostered by the members of Local 627 developed along original lines influenced by, yet unique
A leader has integrity, and are aware of their value and what they represent. However, I feel that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr leadership skills and his self-sacrifices made him one of America’s greatest leaders of the twentieth century. A leader is constantly growing and reaching to expand their leadership skills. Also, leadership can also be learned and developed in certain individuals that have the tenacity, motivation, and the determination to become a leader. Nonetheless, the theories that are discussed in Unit I study guide examines the approaches that are used in leadership, as well as the difference between leadership and management skills. Further, one example given was to think of leadership as a movement, being able to see where the organization is trying to go. At the same time management is viewed as standing still, being stationary and doing your absolute best and working with what you have in front of you. However, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr transformational leadership skills, characteristics, and his vision for change in the society all contributed to his outstanding leadership abilities.
