Inverness Castle, the Macbeth residence on Friday Evening- Breaking news, the honorable King Duncan of Scotland was found dead in his sleep with multiple stab wounds to the chest. Watchmen have yet to identify who committed such a horrendous felony. The locals of Scotland are in utter shock and awe of the tragic events that took place last night. The great lands of Scotland are still with the breaths of the helpless citizens that don’t know what to do now that the king is dead. As loyal citizens they all want the death of the king to be avenged. As of this morning, at approximately 6:05 A.M., there still aren’t many actions taken place to bring this death to justice, but there is a small group of frenemies gathered at the Macbeth’s castle …show more content…
They all just looked at each other not knowing what to do with themselves. After what just happen, not many people would know what to do with themselves. The time was now 7:20 A.M. and they all began to walk out of the castle in distress and all of Scotland was waiting to hail Macbeth as the new king of Scotland, as they had already known that King Duncan was dead. Little did they know the events that occurred right behind those large, gated doors. Each of them walked out, Macbeth walking out first, with his wife by his side, Macduff following, then Banquo, and then Angus. The crowds eyes were wondering, where is Ross?, Why are there only five royal subjects, and not six? The five that did remain knew that Ross was killed inside of that castle. The crowd swarmed Macbeth and the others asking them where is Ross? What happened in there? All of them were to flustered to answer any questions regarding what happened in that dungeon. Minutes had gone by of this, and all of a sudden Lady Macbeth yelled out that Ross is dead, and no one knows what happened because it was dark, anything could’ve happened in there! We don’t know if one of them killed him in that room or he killed himself! The crowd was stunned, taken aback by the dreadful news that Lady Macbeth just uttered. There were reporters every ready with questions to ask each and every one of them. On one side there was Macduff struggling to get the words out of his mouth to answer the question, then there was Banquo about to pass out from the pain in his thigh, and Macbeth and Lady Macbeth telling everyone to back away, and leave them be during these tough times in Scotland. This shows that Macbeth will kill his partner to stay king since Banquo thinks Macbeth is the murder of King Duncan. After he hears the answers from the witches, he decides to kill all of Macduff’s family because Macbeth thinks killing Macduff’s family would stand in line of his inheritance:”The castle of Macduff I will surprise,/Seize upon Fife, give to th' edge o' th' sword/His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls/That trace him in his line. No boasting like a fool./This deed I’ll do before this purpose cool./But no more sights!—Where are these gentlemen?/Come, bring me where they are”(4.1.157.163). His next targets are Banquo and Fleance. Macbeth hires murderers to kill them both. The murderers successfully kill Banquo but Fleance escapes. Macbeth becomes king and hosts a banquet. The guilt comes back. Macbeth acknowledges. “When now I think you can behold such sights, and keep the natural ruby of your cheeks, when mine is blanch’d with fear” (3.4.45). Macbeth thinks everyone at the table can see Banquo’s ghost when really he is the only one who sees it. Everyone is confused and concerned because Macbeth is going crazy and practically yelling at an empty chair. Macbeth almost spills the truth that he was the one who arranged Banquo’s death. Also, Lady Macbeth claims that, “I pray you, speak not; he grows worse and worse; Question enrages him; at once, good night: stand not upon the order of your going, but go at once” (3.4.45). Lady Macbeth tries to cover the up the outburst by telling their quests that Macbeth is not well. She knows that the guilt is taking over him because he initially did not want to kill
In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both show signs of what would today be diagnosed as symptoms of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is defined as “long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation”. There are three major symptoms of this disorder: not knowing the difference between reality and fantasy, jumbled conversations, and withdrawal physically and emotionally. The most common and most well known symptom of schizophrenics is when they can’t make out what is real and what isn’t.
Later on the novel another crime occurs in order to keep Macbeth’s throne safe. Banquo and Fleance are two of the next victims in Macbeth’s hit list. He had murderers to execute his job. The three murderers come back with the news that only Banquo was dead and that Fleance had escaped. Macbeth receives the news during a dinner that was held on the castle, where all members of the royalty were present except Macduff, Banquo, and Fleance. Macbeth is seen as a “valiant cousin, worthy gentleman” (I, ii, 24). He is a brave warrior who is well respected in his community, until the witches prophesied to him that he would one day be king (I, iii, 50). Macbeth interprets that he must act to fulfill the prophecy. He sends a letter to lady Macbeth asking what to do. She suggests that he should kill Duncan. Coincidentally, Duncan, honoring the hero, decides to stay at Macbeth’s castle overnight. Lady Macbeth believes that this is a perfect opportunity given by fate to kill Duncan and usurp his power. Exhibiting extreme ambition and masculinity, Lady Macbeth orchestrates the entire scheme and persuades her husband into committing evil deeds, chiding him for behaving like a feminine and coward. Macbeth eventually yields to his wife’s pressure and manipulation. After the murder is discovered, Malcolm and Donalbain, Duncan’s sons, flee to England and Ireland, respectively, while Macbeth assumes a dictatorial sovereignty of Scotland. Macbeth, however, becomes insecure about his power, for the witches have prophesied that Banquo’s descendants will be kings and Macduff, another Scottish nobleman in England, may threaten him. Hence, the vicious tyrant assassinates Banquo and Macduff’s family. As a result, Macduff, with aids from Malcolm and England, vows to retaliate against Macbeth. Meanwhile, Lady Macbeth is greatly agonized by guilt, sleepwalking, rubbing her hands as if trying to wash away the bloodstains, and finally committing suicide. People around the castle become more and more suspicious of their new king and how he came to rule. The night of the murder strange things began to occur, Lennox explains the strange things going on around town: “The night has been unruly. Where we lay, our chimneys were blown down and, as they say, lamentings heard i’ th’ air, strange screams of death”. They start to question him and begin to see him as suspect in the murders of Banquo and King Duncan. Banquo’s son begins to plan attack on Macbeth with the goal being to kill him and take back the crown. Macbeth started to become very unpopular with his people and leading them to turn against him and go to Malcolm's side in the attack against Macbeth. The couple sat, quietly, watching the world passed by in the carriage windows. The trip to Banquo's home was a short ride away and soon they would have dinner with their fellow colleges. Macbeth knew that he would have to come off as sad and grief struck at the events to follow, so he quickly changed his demeanor. Lady Macbeth spoke quietly as the ride processed, " so what will come of this situation?". Macbeth thought for a few moments as they continued on from the journey. Before this scene takes place Lady Macbeth finds out that Duncan will be spending the night at the castle and will be staying for dinner, Lady Macbeth says that he will never see the day again. She tells Macbeth whilst they are visiting act like and “innocent flower, but be the viper hiding beneath it”. When Duncan, Malcom, Banquo, Lennox, Macduff, Ross and Angus arrive at the castle with a warm welcome from Lady Macbeth they all comment on how beautiful the castle is, but Macbeth is nowhere to be seen, it is obvious at this point the planned murder weighs more on Macbeth rather
Lady Macbeth explained that he was sick that night and that everyone should leave, but this event has left many to reflect on whether Macbeth is right to take Duncan’s place.
Lady Macbeth offers to clean the blood and hide the dagger by some servants. Everyone wakes up and finds the dead King only to discover, from Macbeth, that he caught the servants who killed him and made sure they died. Ross finds out that Macduff and his sons have fled to England causing Macbeth to be chosen as the next King. ‘Ring the alarm bell! Murder and treason!’
This whole ceremony was a disaster that will lead to Macbeth’s fall my lord. Things were said and done at this event that no one thane should have seen or heard. Once we left the banquet you could hear the rumors on the street about the king, how he had gone mad, but those who were knowledgeable, began to think about the things that had happened and began to ask questions about the resent murders.
I believe that group A, is about how Macbeth had been shocked of the news, and that not only that he was thane of candor because of Sinel's he was also going to be king eventually.
Macbeth 's evil actions destroy his victim 's lives, and their family 's, and because of this, it was bound to happen that someone destroyed Macbeth in revenge. Thus, it is serving evil that ultimately ends Macbeth 's being. Macbeth kills Banquo and even if there is no direct reply from Banquo 's sons or family, it is known in Scottish history that they become kings. Macbeth murders Duncan, and sets the blame of his action on Malcolm and Donalbain. Obviously, they do not sit still Macbeth abuses what is rightfully theirs, and they set off to different countries to seek for help.
