I believe that cultures are set on traditions handed down from generation to generation to preserve a way of living that each culture holds dear and true to them. In terms of how might this be desirable from the standpoint of fostering mutual respect, I can assume that people in the same place and time, as in our society, seem to have great arduousness in concurring on cultural moral issues. Consequently, people seem incapable of acceding on whether God subsists or not, and there are no arguments or observations that can resolve the dispute to everybody's contentment.
