As soon as I entered the faire, I felt like I had been teleported to another planet. There are several unique things going on at once. For instance, a man riding inside a miniature pedal powered wheel, an eight-man bicycle structured inwards, or a fire-breathing robot. The faire has a medieval-village vibe with a futuristic twist. The Maker Faire, started by Dale Dougherty, launched in May 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area and eventually spread to cities such as Austin and New York City as well as other countries outside of United States. Maker faire is a massive science fair consisting of people who enjoy using and learning about the latest technology and like to showcase their inventions and creativity while educating others. The Maker Faire was influenced by the Make community, which grew as a result of make magazine, which was launched in 2005. This year, approximately over 100,000 attended the annual 2-day event in Queens, New York. Of the many sponsors, some were large companies such as Google, Intel and RadioShack. Startup companies such as Tiny Circuits, UFactory, Maker Arm, and many more also sponsored the faire. Application vary depending on what type of maker you are. If you are a commercial maker, who wants to sell while demostrating their product, you must pay a $500 fee for a …show more content…
This gives them a chance to show their products and test their business plan against their peers. People from incubators, accelerators, crowdfunding services, and VC firms attend these conferences to get insights on the economy and emerging markets. Startups at the faire have connected with accelerators such as Alpha Labs, which are state funded, and help them with supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, design and engineering. The startups, with permission also get a chance to commercialize and sell their products at the
What my fair means to my community was the question, but the answer I concluded was most intriguing. For some the fair is something to come and connect with old friends, colleagues or relatives perhaps. For others the fair is to bring their animals to compete, or see who has the best showmanship and the best quality of animal. For the other individuals of the community they come to our fair because they want to take part in showing their business or vending. That is one of the great parts of our fair because usually the products are handmade and unique to their own kind. For some they come for the art, the music, the rides, the food and the list goes on. Overall the most meaningful about my fair is that the community not only comes together,
The definition of art is notoriously difficult and is a field of philosophical inquiry as such. The meaning of the word "art" are multiple, sediment and cross each other in the language. Missing uses of the word are present in expressions and help to make the subject more that difficult. However, according to my studies, art is an expression, a symbolic way to communicate. Its key is to make something subject or scientific, for instance: an object that went through certain modification would be consider an art. We have a different type of arts but I will only be focusing on this tree types: prehistoric art, art of the ancient near east and art of ancient Egypt.
What is an esthetician? An esthetician is a professional who specializes in skin and skin care. Estheticians, sometimes spelled aestheticians, are trained in cosmetic treatments of the skin. I chose this career because you have the opportunity for self employment eventually, the job market is growing, they can make almost twenty dollars an hour, but most importantly you help others feel good about themselves. Estheticians’ hours vary between part or full time, with very flexible hours. Many estheticians only work nights, weekends, or whenever there client is available. If I were to work at a spa, I would most likely be working throughout the day.
The Colorado River Fair, as part of the network of California fairs, provides an enormous return on investment both economically and socially. Fairs celebrate the town’s history and heritage. They are an educational opportunity for youth and provide wholesome entertainment for families. Four-H and FFA programs support California’s vibrant agriculture sector. Community members of all ages enter their artwork, baked goods, photography and other homemade products in pursuit of coveted blue ribbons. Many non-profit and charity-based organizations participate in activities at the fair.
The fair had several palaces and buildings home to things unlike anything you have ever seen. These palaces have incredible detail put into them to showcase what each palace meant. From the Palace of Forestry to the Palace of Electricity. Each palace has a thing that represents there country in each palace or building in the fair. Like the French art in the Liberal Arts Building to the wood from various parts of the USA. Several artifacts from all over the world are even showcased in various buildings or palaces. Like china desert services that Queen Victoria used and the Mosco Vase that was owned by the Pope.
Being one of the biggest attraction in Bloomsburg that only comes once a year it is a huge deal to the residents that live here all year round. The local schools sometimes shuts down for the whole entire week or maybe just for a long weekend. This fair is practically everything you would imagine a state fair would be and they have it all here. You can adopt a puppy, play with farm animals, and whatever you could think you would need they will have it. If your looking for good deals on home decor your best bet is to go when its closer towards the end of the week when the fair is almost over because at that point people do not want to be traveling back home with stuff they brought up and just want to get rid of it. This fair even has all the traditional shows you see in the movies such as the bearded lady, the man with no head, and they even had one named serpent lady all for the cost of 50 cents. Alpha Sigma Alpha devotes their time into this fair every year and withholds two stands, one where you can play darts and the other where you put a quarter down and spin the wheel to see if the arrow lands on the one you picked. They were able to raise up to 2,000 dollars and was equally split and donated towards the S. June Smith Center and Girls on the
Every year about three-hundred thousand people show up to the Alaska State Fair, more than seven hundred miles away from Barrow, Alaska, and about five hundred and twenty-six miles away from the North Slope. The Fair has been active for 49 years and counting, but only has one location, Palmer, Alaska. There is more than seven-hundred thousand people that live in Alaska, so less than half of the residents are able to attend and enjoy the state fair every year. To help benefit the rural communities in Alaska for the Alaska State Fair experience, the fair should be moved every other year because people would be able to have the same opportunities that urban areas have, the attraction of the state fair would grow, performers could experience different
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote from Nelson Mandela always clicked with me, because while many things can change the world, education is always at the root of it. The Ottawa County Early College program is an opportunity for me to practice with this essential tool. I feel that I am a good fit for the program because I have passion for my studies, am proactive in them, and I flourish under challenge. This amazing program excites me because it will help me to achieve my overall goal for my education; to positively impact the world. While I have many different ideas with what I want to do with my education, Early College will allow me to explore many different paths within a budget I
The Sac County Fairgrounds have shaped me in ways that I cannot even describe. I made countless memories with my best friends and family at this place. I learned responsibility, hard work, and what it felt like to be rewarded for both of those things. So many events happen in this one week, at this one place, that all taught me so many life lessons. The many events that I was involved in at the fair, such as, entering my grandma’s vegetables into the open class building, entering my own projects as a 4-H member, and showing cattle. There are so many more wonderful things about this little county fair that I could go on and on about that have shaped me as a person.
The Iowa State Fair is a big part of the culture of Iowa and has been for centuries. 1854 was the first year of the Iowa State Fair and ever since then it has been a can-not-miss date on many Iowans’ calendars. Every year the fair is held for ten days in the middle of August. Many counties in Iowa hold county fairs, but the Iowa State Fair is the biggest fair of them all. People from all around the state and even throughout the country come here to show off their accomplishments, listen to live music, camp, and have fun at the Thrill Park. Just last year, over a million people visited the fair throughout the ten days of activities. Many kids that I go to school with prepare for this week all year round. They raise and take care of different animals such as pigs and cows and show them at their local county fair and then if they get selected as one of the top participants, they get to go on to show their animal at the Iowa State Fair. You can also go to the state fair for creating art, projects, and photography. They have all the outstanding artwork of the kids on display for everyone to see. The talent that the kids have is just remarkable. The Iowa State fair is a great place to see the culture and even the history of

Waycross Middle School offers many unique activities, sports, and clubs. For example, there is one club that I’m in that’s called crazy science. In this club, we perform different science experiments that are really amazing and are actually pretty “crazy”. One time, we did an experiment where we got to see what happened when you microwave a bar of Ivory soap! Another time, we did an experiment called elephant toothpaste. What we did was that you fill a skinny bottle or tube with hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of food coloring. Then you pour a special substance in to get a really colorful foam burst out of the tube like a volcano! It was a really fun experience! In conclusion, I think this is a fun club that gets kids to have a chance to
When people think of the kern county fair, they ordinarily think of rides, food, maybe concerts. But when I think of the fair, I think about the animals, about showing animals. For five years I have showed goats at the kern county fair. But there are many animals that people show like pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, horses, llamas, alpacas, and bunnies. Then there is the poultry which is chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, and even pigeons. You probably never heard of someone doing something like this, but let me tell you this it is done all over the united states. During a livestock show there is an exhibitor (me) and they are exhibiting an animal, and that animal is judged on traits specific to that animal. I’m doing something unique, when I show
When planning your next major household move or commercial shipping project, it is important to have a thorough understanding of the different types of moving options available to you. This article will introduce you to standard shipping options, as well as walk you through specialized freight options available for atypical shipments. As you will see, specialized freight is often used for large amounts of loose materials, oversized or overweight items, perishable products, or when the unloading area is not properly equipped for traditional freight trucks.
It is Thursday, August 24th, the opening day of the Minnesota State Fair. I am here with my family, a friend and his mom, and one of my sister’s friends. It seems so long since last year’s fair. I always look forward to the state fair, even though it’s pretty much the same every year.
