One thing that we never want to hear a doctor say to us is that we have a tumor. Tumors are classified into two different classes, malignant or benign. Malignant are cancerous and are life threatening, while benign are not life threatening. Malignant tumors may spread to other parts of the body, while benign tumors stay in the place where they started. When the cells in a tumor are normal, it is benign.
