3.1 INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this report is to provide the managing director of Park and Pay a well-developed and well-researched overview and summary of the company’s managerial position. The intent of the report is to be formal and educating in how to improve and better manage our business through change management, resource management, motivation, organizational culture and leadership and provide recommendations on how to improve our businesses sustainability and better achieve organizational goals and objectives. If change is forced on people normally problems occur. Change must be realistic, achievable and measurable, so as managing director it is extremely important to understand how to engage employees, and lead the business, in working around this change (TFG 2014). Change management enables employees to adopt a change so that business objectives and outcomes can be achieved.
Whenever there is some sort of organizational change employees can experience varied levels of discomfort. As managing director leading change requires juggling a number of psychological factors, such as how employees think, how they perceive their current situation, how they will perceive a new change (Price and Lawson 2008). To ensure the success of any change initiative, manager 's efforts should go first towards considering how your employees will perceive the change and approaching this in the best way. Planning, leading organizing, negotiating and controlling are four management functions that can be used and implemented to keep employees motivated towards company goals and reassured about the businesses direction in a time of change.
Organizations are continually faced with a changing environment, therefore a need for a shift in strategic direction, must be implemented. The successes of major organizational change initiatives are almost always dependent on the incorporation of its workers and employees to help implement these changes.

One of the things is that something might look good on paper can have drawbacks that are not realized by the planners, but can be easily identified by the employees who must implement the change. Implementing change in an organization is complicated. It is important that a manager understands their role and responsibilities for which could very well be the success or failure of an organization. Organizations do not change, people do (Sullivan and Decker, 2009). A manager’s responsibility is to manage people. Change is difficult for most people and managing through the change process is not an easy task. Many theories on managing change exist, but they basically have four elements: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation (Sullivan & Decker, 2009). A manager’s role is to examine each of these elements and apply them to the people that he or she leads.
Due to the difficulties that arise when there is a change in management, there needs to be a effective way for managers to adapt to their new work place. Success starts from the top and trickles down. Employees look to their managers to guide them in the right direction.
Not only were the leaders impressed by the employees insights, they took action to address all of the problems. As a result, participation increased, communication improved, relationship between employees and management improved, and access to training and development opportunities were wide-spread. But most importantly, once the original change initiatives were introduced, employees embraced the initiatives, offered insights on how to improve their outcomes, and ensured their success.
There are many reasons that change can or must occur within and organization. The key will be in understanding the organization and the prospective change. According to Mangundjaya (2015) "there are many variables that can influence the success of organizational change, such as the content of the change, the process of the change, individual characteristics, leadership, external environment and organizational context" (p. 67). Organizational change has the potential to successfully align an organization with its goals or completely derail any future success and progress. It is important that the organization takes the proper steps to prepare for, implement, and evaluate change.
Change in an organization can be and usually is difficult for various reasons. Much of the difficulty is in the approach used to initiate change and the willingness to stay engaged and stamina to sustain change through to the end. Organizations can choose to lead by recognizing and implementing change, follow in the shadow of organizations leading the market, or get out of the way by standing still and eventually going under. Managing organizational change is the process of planning and implementing change in organizations in such a way as to decrease employee resistance and cost to the organization while concurrently expanding the effectiveness of the change effort. Today's business environment requires companies to undergo changes almost constantly if they are to remain competitive. Students of organizational change identify areas of change in order to analyze them. A manager trying to implement a change, no matter how small, should expect to encounter some resistance from within the organization.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss organizational change and the management of that change. I will talk about the different drivers of change, the factors a leader needs to weigh to implement change effectively, the various resistances a leader may encounter while trying to implement change, and how various leadership styles will effect the realization of change. I will also discuss the knowledge I have gained through the completion of this assignment and how I think it might affect the way I manage change in my workplace.
Introducing organisational change is often hard, the main reasons for that can be variation in perceptions of the employees, fear of disruption or failure and underlining the right approach to apply change. Then even if the change in a specific organisation is projected successfully there is still lot to be done to manage it in an appropriate way (Oakland, 2007).

For any business in the rapidly evolving world of business, planning and implementing successful organizational change is indispensable. Essentially, organizational change refers to a process whereby an organization strives to optimize performance in order to achieve its ideal state characterized by high performance and profitability (Côté & Mayhew, 2014). Any business would be more likely to lose its competitive edge, as well as fail to meet the demands of its loyal consumers if it doesn’t plan and implement change. Weiss (2012) emphasizes that all organizations ought to embrace change, and it’s imperative to note that successful organizational change doesn’t involve simple process of adjustments; instead it requires appropriate change management capabilities.
