This paper will discuss mange. Included will be the two different types of mange, the side effects of mange, and the treatment options associated with mange. Mange can affect many species of animals, but it is considered common in dogs. Mange is an inflammation of the skin which is caused by mites that live on or in the skin (Colville, Bassert, 2016). They cause irritation, itchiness and hair loss. When the animal scratches themselves it can cause deep wounds which can lead to infection or the skin may thicken and become flaky (Colville, Bassert, 2016). There are two types of mites; demodex and sarcoptes. To determine which type of mite the animal has, there needs to be a sample taken from a skin scraping and looked at under a microscope (Colville, Bassert, 2016). Demodex mites live in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. They appear long and thin with stubby legs (Colville, Bassert, 2016). It is passed from the mother to her puppies and is considered a common mite on the skin normally causing minimal problems (Grognet, 2009). In some cases dogs with a low immune system do experience problems with the demodex mite. There are two types of demodectic mange; localized and generalized (Grognet, 2009). Localized demodectic mange can normally go without treatment and will eventually resolve itself. The generalized form is more severe and is difficult to treat (Grognet, 2009). There are two commonly used insecticides that can be used for treatment. There is a weekly Mitaban dip and a …show more content…

This poster relates to dental hygiene since it depicts all the characteristics of Periodontitis which is a form of dental disease. The poster defines the dental disease, the symptoms, and gives ways to tackle the disease thus meeting the principles of dental hygiene. Based on the above information from the poster, Amanda Vera & Tiffany Andron deserve the first price for this poster.

The occupation of a veterinary physician is an arduous but rewarding career that takes many years to achieve. Without this occupation, many individuals and families would be left lacking a major source of happiness in their lives. The main items enquired about this profession are the salary and obligations of the job, the education necessary, and the advantages and disadvantages.
Over the years, my interest increased, which led me to the desire of becoming a veterinary technician. Though my research, I have decided that pursuing the path of veterinary technology is more suited for me, rather than a veterinary assistant or a veterinarian. My reasoning for straying away from becoming a veterinarian is due to the fact that I do not wish to perform surgeries or make diagnosis’s. A veterinary assistants everyday tasks, though still vital, are considerably different than those of a veterinary technician. The daily tasks of a veterinary assistant may include; feeing and grooming animals, cleaning and disinfecting kennels, maintain and sterilize surgical
Veterinary Technicians should expect to work long hours, associate with animals, and communicate with owners and staff. Clinics and veterinary hospitals are typically open 24/7, therefore technicians are expected to work weekends, holidays and evenings. Options of work environment include private practices, zoos, laboratories, kennels and animal shelters (“Technician Summary” 2014). Becoming a technician is emotionally and physically demanding. On a daily basis, technicians administer first aid care to recovering or injured animals, as well as observing the condition and behavior of animals. Administering anesthesia, collecting blood and urine samples, and preparing animals for survey are daily tasks. Technicians perform x

Menshee has been brining us music from Volgograd, Russia. Menshee started getting into music while he was young, music was magic for him, finding the mixes and electronic rhythms intriguing. Listening to new radio shows and getting new tape or new music to listen to fueled his music thirst soon became his obsession. Once Menshee started playing around with music when he got his first computer and found Fruity Loops 2, where he soon started making his own simple beats. Soon thereafter, he went full-time into producing and djing. He started off with his first project being DJ DNK and Denis Sender as well. As Denis Sender he got a lot of support from many top trance DJs, his third project was/is Menshee. Inspired by spinning records and melodic electronic music.
Human scabies is caused by an infestation of the skin by the human itch mite. The itch mite is so small it is hard to distinguish with the human eye. The scabies mite burrows in the upper layer of the skin where it lives and lays its eggs. Scabies is transmitted by prolonged skin-to-skin contact. The most common symptoms are intense itching and a pimple like rash. Scabies undergo four stages in their life cycle: egg, larvae, nymph, and adult scabies. The eggs are 0.10 to 0.15 mm in length. They hatch 3 to 4 days after they are laid. After they hatch, the larvae work their way to the skin’s surface and burrow into the stratum corneum creating molting pouches. As the larval stage begins, the larvae only have three legs. This stage lasts 3 to
Dracunculiasis is caused by the pathogen D. medinesis. You can get GWD by drinking water contaminated by water fleas infected with guinea worm larvae.
During my time as an intern at the Ridgefield Animal Hospital, I was given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience behind the scenes in an animal clinic. One of the most frequent duties of mine was to follow the doctors into the exam rooms as they examine their patients and speak to the owners about their pet’s health. In the exam room, the doctors typically obtain an updated weight for the patient, take the animal’s temperature, and briefly inspect the patient’s mouth/teeth, ears, and skin. Often, the doctor would also give vaccinations in the
