Round table introductions.
Teri started the meeting by asking how many adjunct members was part of the inception of the Medical Assistant program. It was discussed that Lisa Bradshaw, Heather Roberts and Jessica Wynant were part of the startup program that now consists of two cohorts a year and is one Allied Health Occupations (AHO) most popular health care program.
Last year we did a mapping exercise with Lori Sours. This exercise helped determine changes that need to be made to the curriculum. Upon review, BA109: Ready, Set, Work (2 credits) functions will be moved to the Career Center. One course with huge success is the AH105: Communication and Professional Behavior, taught by David Sours. This course has helped make big improvements
Pebbles Lafleur05/15/2018HS115My Scope of PracticeAs many people know, there are steps into making into the medical field world. There are still certifications and levels to have under your belt to move up. Many people start as a CNA, then LPN, RN and so on and so forth. However, currently, I am enrolled in school to become a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) and hopefully adding phlebotomy under my belt as well. Nevertheless, before all this to happen, there is a process to go by and complete it accordingly. To be competitive in the medical field marketplace, all medical assistants have to be certified through the AMA. The AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) is the association that is responsible for producing the
Throughout this course I have learned so much in regards to what type of characteristic and responsibility is required to become a successful heath care professional. For example, being guided by a professional codes of ethics can help patients and health care professional to provide the best and safest care. Some of these principle include, respecting confidential information, be honest, keep promises and do no harm. As a future nurse, I have learned my weaknesses and my strengths in regard to my characteristics. For instance, my strongest characteristics is being a fast learner and having the ability to solve problems under stress. In the other hand, this course has shown me my weaknesses, such as, having no physical endurance and my lack
I am pursuing a Medical Assistant Associate in Applied Science degree. I choose this major because the field of work I want to be in is more hands on. I want to be in the action, where I can be doing multiple things and always be on the move. My career goals are to graduate from Berkeley College, move on to my internship, then choose a facility to work at. As I am working as a medical assistant (MA), I would like to continue my career and go back to school, and become a registered nurse (RN). I want to learn and experience different situations to gain more knowledge. Once I become a RN, I would like to continue my education and go back to school for Advance Practice Nursing. My personal goal is to develop great communication skills. I want
The medical profession I’ve recently decided to pursue was a certified medical assistant. You will need some type of plan before you decide to pursue in anything. It could be as simple as writing down your short and long term goals on a piece of paper .In my case, I always have something that motivates me because that will help me stay focused on achieving my goals. My motivation is knowing I will wake up to something I love doing on a daily basis once I get my career started. There are a few steps I will need to take to achieve my goal in becoming a medical assistant.
Sarah Robbins, a young lady interested in orthopedics, embraced the opportunity to spend time at our facility, working alongside Dr. Tehrany. She spent two weeks working with Dr. Tehrany and his team, learning about the challenges and the rewards of working in the medical profession.
On a more specific, personal level as to why I want to attend the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the reasons are numerous. I was born and raised in the great state of Arkansas, better known as: “The Land of Opportunity.” I truly believe that UAMS offers its students an incredible opportunity for success. I would consider it a great honor and fulfilled vision to graduate with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies in my home state.
I know the Public Health Associate Program opens many doors. My goals after completion of the program include working in a federal agency, non-governmental organization, or internationally to help build healthy, strong communities. Since traveling internationally at a young age, my goals have never changed. I have wanted to work in some capacity in government and politics to aide in bettering the world around me, and the lives of others.
This is my first semester at SNHU in the Masters in ITwith concentration in Healthcare Informatics. I have a MS in Applied Gerontology.I have had the opportunity to interact, get to know and helped a lot of great people while on volunteer training at Northside Hospital. This interaction not only helped them but helped me as well, It really made me realize, that no matter what age we are, everyone strives and wishes to live happily. This simple interaction on my part has made me to be more driven in completing what I have set out to accomplish with my career. I know the things in life that have the most reward, require the most sacrifice and hard work. I am interested in this program because there are many opportunities in Information Technology. I
My primary responsibility is faculty and staff development. In my first year, I developed our Coaching, Practice, and Reflection (CPR) program for new faculty. This program helps new faculty transition, focus on their teaching and begin developing relationships with potential mentors. This program also runs in conjunction with the services provided by Center for Teaching and Learning at the university. During the development of our latest strategic plan for the college, colleagues and I moved faculty and staff development from a function within my position to one of the five strategic priorities for 2013-2018. At this time, we are creating a faculty and staff development model that identifies four distinct developmental milestones over the first 10 years of a hire’s transition from novice to expert while continuously enhancing student learning. As a leader in the college, I feel it is a professional responsibility to discover opportunities for improvement as well as unleash the talent of our faculty and staff directly resulting in a healthier student experience.

What is public health? "Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of families and communities through promotion of healthy lifestyles, research for disease and injury prevention and detection and control of infectious diseases." (What is Public Health?) From this definition, I get the general idea of what public health is. I believe that public health is essential for society. I hope from this course, I have a deeper understanding about it. The second thing I want to learn is about the functions of public health. In chapter one of Novick & Morrow Public Health Administration, it mentions that there are three core functions that public health agencies need to perform. "Core functions were denoted as assessment, assurance and policy development" (p 54).
I want to give up three weeks of my summer to attend this prestigious course is because I have a strong passion for Biotechnology and Biomedical Science in hopes of becoming a future biomedical engineer. This summer course is very important to me because with this course I will get the true feeling of being in a college environment and be able to complete a class that will enrich my understanding and basis of Biotechnology. This course is the final step I need to qualify for Governors Honors Program as a junior next year because this year I was turned down to the not having a summer program or class that I have participated in. I have talked to my assistant principal about this opportunity, and she says that this will be the final item that
In addition, as a way to continue providing students with the current opportunities offered, but also those that are forthcoming a Strategic Planning document was created that is a blueprint for the future. “It is designed to give the college community a broad vision for our future together. Existing campus committees along with newly formed groups are establishing goals and priorities, providing a map for implementing activities, and establishing touchstones against which to measure progress”
- Interviews: By interviewing people who could possibly be involved and alumni who have taken similar course I should be able to identify areas that need major improvements along with areas that seemed to work well but might need slight improvement.
The change I wish to work towards in this course is forming a strategic vision and initiatives for my company. As I spoke about during my post the move has brought up a create conversation with my classmates that I thought was very interesting. I also feel that by putting myself in a management position this gives me a chance to voice the way I would do things in order to make everyone feel not only safe but trust the vision. Another reason why I picked to change forming a strategic vision and infinitives for my company is because arguably the two key leadership abilities are deciding on what the right thing to do is and getting others on board. This requires timely and effective skills and setting a vision for others. To truly excel as these leaders needs to have a global perspective and a strategic view. To be more detail I will come up with a plan that will help from the moment we move to a plan in the other building. I feel after looking at the questions for the semester long project I can apply my situation to each question because it 's all about time management, dealing with conflict and finding a solution.
