Goals and Objectives The purpose of this goals and objectives is to clearly construct perceived learning opportunities and expectations of an internship. As an internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Library, my goals and objectives are outlined from the perspective of potentially going into the career field of medical/health sciences librarianship. Goals For each goal, a brief description is provided on why the goal was selected. 1. Link academic theory to practical applications in medical/health librarianship. Acquire new learning of the various aspects of medical librarianship in respects to positions and task. Thus, providing knowledge of the different positions in medical librarianship and their jobs. 5. Demonstrate awareness of organizational policies, trends, and issues that navigate workload. This goal will show the relevance of policies, procedures, trends, and issues inside/outside of the organization that affects workload, activities, and research. 6. Identify or clarify/ and or confirm professional directions as related to a future career path. At the end of the 80-hour internship, I have obtained experience, knowledge, and information to make an informed decision about the career area of librarianship that I would like to pursue after graduation. 7. Develop mentoring/networking relationships. By taking full advantage of this experience and the people that I encounter, assist, and collaborate with can be beneficial for lifelong networking.
