Intern Nation by Ross Perlin tells you most everything you ever wanted to know about internships and then some. Equal parts history lesson, tell all and personal commentary, this should be assigned reading for anyone considering taking part in an internship. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of becoming familiar with the culture of a non-denominational setting of the church. The Evanston Vineyard comprises of 57 nations of the world. The church is not only unique because of this particular diversity (for example, there is a Spanish-speaking congregation that convenes every Sunday in the La Viña auditorium, one of multiple auditoria in this church) but also because of its hospitable and welcoming environment. This church context serves as the backdrop for the events and discussions that comprise the remainder of this paper.

I had an internship in State Farm Simon Office (an insurance agency) within the Curricular Practical Training portion of my studies since Oct 2014. State Farm is a well-known national brand, which offers automobile/boat/motorcycle insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, business insurance and a number of other insurance lines. Our office is an independent agency for State Farm, which serves individuals, families and businesses in the Philadelphia suburbs and, more commonly, across state lines into Delaware and New Jersey. My position in the office is Marketing Assistant. I worked with the agent to plan and execute marketing strategies, to create marketing targets, to allocate marketing resources among different channels and to oversee and measure the success of marketing efforts.

The semester is almost over! Along with the excitement of graduating the excitement of starting new journey comes. I will be ending my internship soon and it has been bitter sweet to have to leave soon, since last time we checked in new things have happen. We are finding my replacement and everyone has been super sweet expressing to me how they will miss me. My supervisor made me write a process memo for all the tasks I do for the new replacement and when I showed it to him he mentioned how well I have done all my work for the past two years. It made me happy to hear that my work was appreciated.

I started my journey back in February 2016 at the OSU-Stillwater career fair. I went there with high expectations and faith to find an internship to start at career before graduating in the fall. I had a list of companies I wanted to get knowledge of but at the last minute I was stopped by a certain individual at a United Rentals booth. We shook hands and shared stories of career
However, through the internship at the Granite Club, I was able to learn much more than what I have expected and was able to achieve all my goals and objectives. First, I was able to learn about the Club as a whole and through it, saw departments that I would like to be in. By rotating into different departments each week, it was an great opportunity to not only see how everything works together, but for myself to see where I would like to set my career. Secondly, I was able to connect and shadow supervisors and managers that I would want to be. Through these experiences, I learned managerial roles and duties. Moreover, this opportunity provided me with connections and network that I would have never gotten anywhere else. The people I worked with were veterans in the industry with vast knowledge and experience. It was great to just feed of them and understanding how they were able to achieve the place they are at now. Lastly, I was able to work with both parking and member services departments to write procedures that managers would write. I was given the opportunity to understand as a manager and write up procedures that would help the staffs to improve and keep Granite Club standards.
