By comparing the different mediums of “The Outsiders” through comparing disadvantages and disadvantages to decide which of “The Outsiders” mediums are better. With the novel, it has more detail, it has more detail in the character’s backstory like how it describes pony’s and soda's life before the present story in the book. With Soda his life story is told. In the story there is inner thoughts to the characters it also shows what the characters are thinking. With the story it comes with the first chapter and a bit of the second describing the characters. There is more dialogue in the story making it a bit more interesting, dialogue “speech in the story” can actually be pretty important, because it let’s the characters explain what is happening
The two forms of this story were extremely similar. They both share the same theme in this story. Also the characters personalities are the same in both the film and the written version. These are why it was difficult to chose which was better. Also why it was more difficult to pick out the differences.
An example would be the bombing of Baba-Levy's house. In the book, the bombing occurred while Marjane was at the mall on her way to her house. The movie showed this scene close to the last section of the first half of the movie and didn't mention her at the mall. The text however, showed a clear description of her reaction to the news of the bombing and running to her house for fear of her neighbors and her family's safety. In total, the text summarized and transitioned the plot better than movie.
The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.
Comparing the differences in the book of “ The outsiders” to the movie there are a few things that have been changed. There is a significant difference with one of the deaths. A few situations are also changed . Such as the rumble and how the boys enter the hospital to see one of their friends. The intro and ending of both the book and the movies are different. There are scenes that weren’t added to the movie. The author, S.E Hinton, and the director Francis Ford Coppola deviated which parts were not as valuable and chose to cut some unimportant scenes.
To begin, the first difference I observed between the book and movie is that the movie has a different opening scene than the book. The movie starts out with Ponyboy writing in a composition notebook on a page titled “The Outsiders.” In the book the beginning scene is Pony boy walking
The novel of The Outsiders is better than the movie. The novel gives more vivid details than the movie does. Even though the movie shows actual image, the novel lets you have your own image of what’s going on. The movie did not show the part where Ponyboy was getting jump. That is where most of the conflicts started. It also didn’t show the part where they were at the court, which is a really important part in The Outsiders. The feeling and tension are more intense in the novel than it is in the movie. Over all, the movie is not better than the novel.
One way the story is different from the movie is that the story is very descriptive of characters and
Dialogue is very critical in writing since it can make the piece exciting, or it can fully extinguish the tone of your story
The book is better because it gives more excitement and emotion. The book just explains each of the events in great detail. I don’t know about other people, but for me the more information there is, the more I understand it. And in the movie of “The Outsiders”, it does not really say much about what’s going on. For instance, when Johnny dies, in the movie, Ponyboy goes home but it does not tell how long he had been out. In the book, Pony is walking home from the hospital and a man asked him if he wanted a ride (Hinton 151). Though others might think that the movie is better because it visualizes the events that are happening. But, even though it envisions what the book tells about does not mean that it is one hundred percent better.
better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a
Ultimately, the visual version and the written version of The Outsiders had their similarities and their differences. In my opinion the novel of The Outsiders was my favorite version because it was more described and can be interpreted in many different way and that is the beauty of reading a book. I have learned a piece of advice from The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton; don’t think you know everything about a person without getting to know them. There is still on question hanging on for dear life; Will Ponyboy and The Greasers find new members of the gang or will they give up on the gang
The Outsiders book is different from the movie by how it starts, parts of storyline, and the reason behind the book. In The Outsiders book started with Ponyboy Curtis walking out of a movie house.(Hinton 1) Later, he gets jumped by socs (Hinton 5). When he gets jumped it is important to the book because it gives Ponyboy an even bigger reason to not like socs on a further personal level. When Ponyboy and Johnny rescue the five children from the burning church it
The Outsiders is a book that has been read by many people. Most of the people have enjoyed the book, but not the movie or vise versa. The Outsiders was very good and had a great story behind it. The reasons why the book is better than the movie are the book gives more detail, people can let their imagination go wild, and the movie leaves out key elements that the book has.
In the film version of the novel by S.E. Hinton, The Outsiders, characterization, setting, and conflicts were depicted accurately. In the film version of the outsiders the characterization was just the way it was described in the novel. Also the setting was just as it was described in the novel. The conflicts were exactly the same as they were in the novel. The novel and the film has so much in common you would think you were reading the novel all over again.
The movie and the book of The Outsiders create similar pictures that are channeled through thoughts. The two, show and create the setting, the mood, and themes. Much of the storyline in the book can be seen in the movie, although the director had altered the story in the movie. The movie did not let the the watchers produce their own thoughts like the book did. The different formats of The Outsiders can either have more or less information. The 1983 movie strayed away from the book by not exploring further into the many themes that were presented in the novel. In addition to the differences, the movie cut many of the characters’ backstories and perspectives out of the script. In the book, Ponyboy Curtis had narrated, but in the movie it is in a third person perspective. The movie had added more dramatic scenes and language to change emotions up.The director and editor’s choices to make it interesting had caused the two versions to
