Many of my studies have focused on subject matter relevant to the teachings of the faculty at Memorial University such as the topics of climate change, the geology of coastal landscapes, oceanography, cartography, global positioning systems, remote sensing, and geographic information systems. I hold an affinity of interests toward technology used for geospatial data acquisition such as ERDAS Image and ArcGIS. Map making is a big interest of mine. Recently, I have spent many long hours designing maps with various software including Adobe Illustrator, ERDAS Imagine, and ArcGIS that were largely enjoyed. When I graduate from San Francisco State University in Spring, I will have fulfilled degree elective requirements for both resource management and geographic analysis techniques.
I am environmentally conscious and have an enormous interest in studying sustainability (reduce, reuse, recycle). A geographer can survey the world to discover what resources are being used and with what frequency, how the use of the resources impacts the environment in a negative or positive way, how to manage environmental impacts, and what action can be taken to preserve resources for as long as

John's harbor about the fact that there wasn't always a sewage treatment plant there, despite the fishery; this was a subject that fascinated me and sparked my curiosity. While searching for graduate schools to apply to, I came across Memorial University without remembering the name of St. John's and became very interested in the program offered. A few weeks ago, it suddenly dawned on me that the two places are the same place. My heart settled. I like what I have heard about St. John’s of Labrador and Newfoundland and will be comfortable moving there to study. Initially, after having researched the Department of Geography faculty members, the thesis subject I desired to pursue was the spatial distribution and impact of weather systems in the vicinity of St.
Two of my long-range goals are to spread the joy of playing music and to make a difference in this world through research and development of environment-friendly technology. Continuance of my education in music is essential for me to become more proficient as a musician, and through this journey I will have more opportunities to share the joy I experience through music. Likewise, academic training in a STEM field, specifically engineering, will allow me to move in the direction of developing technology that will sustain the environment for future generations as well as harness renewable energy thus minimizing our negative footprint on Earth.
I was born in Victoria, Texas. Being raised in South Florida, I’ve been around a variety of cultures and diverse people all my life. I am mu-lingual (English / Spanish) and I am conversational in Italian. Attending Somerset Academy Charter since kindergarten is one of the reasons I am who I am today. Somerset Academy is a school that makes each student feel important, valued and part of a school community. I have always had the opportunity to speak up and reach out to my peers for any help and advice needed. The Somerset Academy community has shaped me into being a dedicated student and has allowed me to build mentoring relationships with many of my professors. Another reason I am the person I am today is because of my parents and the empowerment afforded to me. I come from a family that has instilled in me the significance of an education and a strong work ethic. They have also taught me the importance of freedom of choice and accountability for those choices. My parents have always stressed that an education is paramount to attain a
Despite my enrollment on Blinn TEAM, I took advantage of many opportunities that otherwise only those who are fully enrolled at Texas A&M would take. I am a member of the Corps of Cadets, a New Student Conference Orientation Leader, and a student worker on the Texas A&M campus. All of these experiences have exposed me to lessons, hardships, and joys that I do not regret going through for a single second.
I am writing to express my interest in the biology teaching position at Bard High School Early College (BHSEC). I am currently holding a New York City initial certification in adolescent biology education as well as a Master degree in Biology. I have experience teaching at a high school as well as a college level. I believe that my experience and qualification is a great fit for this position.
Since I was fifteen I have always been drawn to answering important questions, engaging in meaningful discussions, and touching lives in intentional and personal ways. My favourite thing to do is disciple; engage in authentic conversations about life, relationships, and Jesus through a mixture of counseling, mentoring, and teaching. I have been intrigued by philosophy and theology since high school. Since then I did my undergraduate degree at Summit Pacific College, close to where I live so that I could help my family build our new house, while preparing to impact my world for Christ. At Summit, I earned a BA in Religion, with a major in Biblical Theology. In this major I took exegetical coursework, first year Hebrew and Greek, and was prepared for Graduate studies with a thesis course.
I fell in love with politics at the age of 10, the year was 2004, and I liked John Kerry because he shared my name. I also supported him because my father, at the time, was supporting George W. Bush and I was a rather antagonistic child. Over time I’ve certainly become more nuanced in the candidates I support, but that year began a lifetime journey into a field that is ever changing, ever competitive, and that impacts so many lives.
I request to be in the AP human geography course because college year is just around the corner and I consider it is imperative to expand my knowledge on geography and who it affects us human beings. My main objectives and goals this school year are to learn and understand the connections between the economic, social, political and environmental development of the human race in a global society. This course will not only benefit me in this area, but will also help me employ the methods of geographers, especially though observation, map making and data gathering. My other school year goal is ending this year being more geoliterate that is becoming more engaged in contemporary global issues and more multicultural. In this course I will the
This individual has the unique opportunity to gain insight from the world of academia and the experiences of the general public. In this way, the cultural geographer can then examine both sides in order to gain a clearer understanding. This isn’t to say that the geographer is meant to look for an absolute. With that in mind, Crang further examines the relationship between science and the academy. The example of exploration often being funded by news publications was something I had yet to hear of. I found it fascinating that science often works hand in hand with academics I felt that I had been aware of this for some time, but reading about it in this section further established the implications of these two forces working
Geology is defined as a science that studies the earth’s history by examining the materials and the physical processes it goes through. I used to think geology simply was the study of Earth, but through taking this course I now understand how complex it really is. I have not only learned about the physical properties and the history of Earth but also how important it is for us to learn these things and how it can impact our lives and careers. My eyes have been opened, and today I will be discussing the careers available in geology, a world problem that is related to geology, and the benefit to society from the knowledge of geoscientists.
“Yale is the place that endowed me with the confidence and the grand scope of the world that a young designer needed to excel and make a difference in the real world.” – Yansong Ma. Yale University (M.Arch ’02).
What does the information have to do with you, personally, and with your life (past, present or future)? Undoubtedly, this book is generously sharing with the reader practical teaching tools and strategies, which are on the top of my interest list for the future use and application in the classroom. But when it comes to geography,
Since Freshman year at Rowan University, I have aspired towards obtaining a higher education of graduate studies within the field of English Literature. Thus, I am applying to Rutgers University-Camden Masters in English program in the quest to realize my greatest career objective of pedagogy at the collegiate level. This Masters in English program will be the institution that sharpens my literary prowess and analytical writing methods.
“A good teacher may shape your future.” A good teacher can teach you knowledge, import wisdom to you, and even bright your future. Dr. Quiring said he switched his major and eventually become a geography professor also because the professor he met in that class impacted him a lot. His first geography professor is a climatologist, who did a really good job of teaching the course, stimulate the students, and aroused their interest in the study. This professor is one of the most impressive professors for Dr. Quiring, who changed Quiring’s attitude to geography. After that, Dr. Quiring switched his major and decided to be a geography faculty member when he was a junior student.
I am applying for admission to the graduate program in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Carnegie Mellon University. I intend to pursue research in the fields of Signal Processing and Machine Learning. I am particularly interested in working on real world problems and applications which combine concepts from signal processing and machine learning with computational modelling and statistical inference. I am also interested in developing applications of signal and image processing using machine learning methods.
