Minimum Driving Age

Due to safety concerns, many states across the country have increased the age at which teenagers are able to start driving. The state legislature is considering raising the minimum age from 16 to 18, which is a legal adult. This situation has been a huge debate for many years mainly between teens and older adults. However, there’s more reasons why the age shouldn’t change.

When looking out the window on a road, a good population of people that drive a car are at a young age. In the state of Virginia, sixteen has been the age for people to drive. When taught to drive a car at sixteen, people earn their rite of passage into the real world. Even though eighteen is considered a real adult, sixteen-year-olds can own the same responsibility. I believe people should drive at sixteen because it helps teach responsibility, assists with jobs and extracurricular activities, and helps with the knowledge needed before college.

The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen-year old’s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license.

Should people be driving at age 16? I think that they should and here’s the reason why. The reason that they have so many accidents is because they don’t have that much experience. The number of age doesn’t mean nothing, and all your doing is identifying the age of the driver. There are many things that people consider to reduce teen accidents.

If the driving age is raised, there would be less people involved in wrecks, which would help the world out as a whole. Even though 16 year olds are more accident prone than other drivers, taking 16 year olds off of the road would save the lives of everyone on the road. Driving is a wonderful experience at the age of 16, but some people say driving is too dangerous for the age. Now, people are saying that the minimum driving age should be raised. The legal age to obtain a drivers license is 16, it should stay that way. The age 16 was placed as the age to obtain a drivers license because, assuming the driving age is lowered, teens are still dependent on their parents, the rate of car crashes could possibly increase, and teenaagers might feel pushed to get a job or plan their future at a young age which can cause excessive stress.
