Minimum Driving Age

When looking out the window on a road, a good population of people that drive a car are at a young age. In the state of Virginia, sixteen has been the age for people to drive. When taught to drive a car at sixteen, people earn their rite of passage into the real world. Even though eighteen is considered a real adult, sixteen-year-olds can own the same responsibility. I believe people should drive at sixteen because it helps teach responsibility, assists with jobs and extracurricular activities, and helps with the knowledge needed before college.

Should people be driving at age 16? I think that they should and here’s the reason why. The reason that they have so many accidents is because they don’t have that much experience. The number of age doesn’t mean nothing, and all your doing is identifying the age of the driver. There are many things that people consider to reduce teen accidents.

Young drivers should have to wait until they are 18 years old to get their license because 16 year olds are more likely to get in an accident than an older driver. Rubin gives a valid reason to why the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18. If the driving age is raised, there would be less people involved in wrecks, which would help the world out as a whole. Even though 16 year olds are more accident prone than other drivers, taking 16 year olds off of the road would save the lives of everyone on the road. Driving is a wonderful experience at the age of 16, but some people say driving is too dangerous for the age. Now, people are saying that the minimum driving age should be raised. The legal age to obtain a drivers license is 16, it should stay that way. The age 16 was placed as the age to obtain a drivers license because, assuming the driving age is lowered, teens are still dependent on their parents, the rate of car crashes could possibly increase, and teenaagers might feel pushed to get a job or plan their future at a young age which can cause excessive stress.

Many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive because of safety concerns. Many teenagers have been involved in many car accidents. I think the age should stay at 16 because, driving gives more freedom, driving allows teens to work, and driving teaches responsibility.

However, from the looks of it, it seems that legislation is going to make the legal driving age eighteen.

In our daily life we listen to 18 year old teenagers say, “I’m an adult I can make my own decisions.” In part, this statement is legally correct but not always physiologically acceptable. Some studies have shown that the brain at that age is not fully developed, specially the area that controls decision making. In the teenage years, there is a factor that plays an important role in every human’s life, peers. Teenagers are influenced in most part by their peers and it is important for their development to have them, it coud influence when making a decision. Many adults already think that teenagers don't make the best decisions, and actually many studies support this belief. Many websites publish statistics of car accidents where teenagers are the principal cause or are involved. The lack of cognitive development, the horrible decision making and the peer pressure are factors that prevent adolescents under 18 to be responsible drivers.
