As health care providers, professionalism, respect and empathy should play an essential role in our daily routine. These core values allow us as health care providers to demonstrate understanding, compassion, and appreciation for our patients and their experiences. A nurse has the power and privilege to help patients who are hurting, both emotionally and physically. For instance, I am actively pursuing volunteer and employment opportunities to work with the underserved because it is a true passion of mine. Furthermore, I personally relate to the dent that a shortage of staff leaves in its wake because I used to live in an underserved community and was forced to move to New York due to my son’s medical condition. Throughout third and fourth semester I have really enjoyed my clinical rotations through ICU floors, and I wish to get a job opportunity to start my career on that floor. The professional organization for critical care nurses is American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).

I believe that being respectful or showing respect is one of the most important values that everyone should have as a person in general because it shows that you appreciate the individual and that they are worth your time. I am a nursing student. I have a great passion for caring for others. My short term goals are to graduate Riverland Community College with my Associate's Degree in Nursing this December. I plan to work very hard and prepare to take my nursing licensure exam at the beginning of next year to become licensed as a registered nurse.
