I believed in your mission statement, especially, this part, “dedicated to provide high-quality, accessible medical care to underserved communities, regardless of their inability to pay.” I also believed that community health nursing is one of the best ways to reach the most vulnerable and under-served in our society. The reason why I decided to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner was based on my community health care experiences from volunteering in a community based family clinic that served low-come population and doing my community hours during my BSN program. My vision for myself as a nurse is that I will care for all patients holistically. I will allow the patient to participate and input ideas into his or her care. I will allow patients to incorporate some of their experiences from their personal lives, and alter my care based on those experiences. I will see the patient as a unique human being and treat all patients with respect and dignity. I will encompass the values that I embrace in everything I do. I will be accountable for my actions and practice within the scope of my license.

To maintin the upmost professional appearance, I must always provide the best care within my scope of practice, give the patient piece of mind regardless of the scenario, and take charge of any situation that is thrown my way. Additionally I need to carry myself as if am always on duty for the fact that at any point in time I can be called to help the people within my community.

I will continue to further my knowledge base as a nurse to ensure care provided is current, efficient, and appropriate. I am continuing my education as a nurse by becoming baccularate degreed registered nurse and additionally will enroll and complete wound care certification because it would assist my residents in the Veteran?s home where I work and the other homes in the state. As a competent registered nurse, my career goal is to become a healthcare quality improvement leader, a position that would enhance my commitment in promoting patient safety. I not only believe in enhancing the capacity of other care providers, but also in improving the quality of the healing environment for the benefit of both patients and their care providers. This means not only promoting collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams, but also building the necessary healing partnerships with our patients.
