Beyond any question, it is true that Mountainside Industries had early successes, but in recent years the company has shown a decreasing profit rate and cause the company to lose its competitive. Problems included lack of communication and unity among the four divisions (candy, toys, crafts, furniture) of Mountainside Industries. In order for the company to operate efficiently and reduce production cost, I suggest to fire production manager of each department who don’t abide the company policy, changes the corporate leadership style and keeping track of the inventory. Firing production Manager of Each Division Firing the head of each department is important because whoever is in charge of each department is not communicating with the divisions effectively. For the divisions to get motivated and get their work done right the production manager must show up and check up on the divisions at least once a month to see how their cooperation is improving. If not, they will feel like the person does not care, so they will go about doing things their own way. Which is what happened with Mr. Henson who visited the divisions when he first arrived, and then communicated through letter and telephone resulting in the divisions not following up with him and not reporting regarding any issues. …show more content…

Not only will it improve productions but it will let inventory workers explore other skill and talent areas they have. As focusing on each of the five management assertions for the inventory account, we discovered that there are some risky areas that indicate the need for further attention during the audit. First of all, for existence or occurrence, all items in the inventory account must physically exist and be available for sale. Thus, the auditors should physically count finished goods, copper rod, and plastic inventories, and determine actual increase of inventories at year end. Also, they should select items from the inventory ledger and locate them and reconcile the quantity. While working for the department, it became very apparent that the practices and management style of the Department Director significantly affected the culture and daily activities of the individual sections under his leadership. First, he would set objectives and standards for the individual sections. These objectives usually looked good on paper but were often unrealistic when applied to daily operations. These lofty ideals, set as goals to middle management, seemed overwhelming and out of touch with the reality of hands on field operations. As a result, middle management would frequently choose to either change or completely disregard the given directives. This disconnect in the chain of command would often cause confusion and inconsistencies at the operations level. Additionally, lack of follow-up meant the Department Director assumed his set objectives were being carried out while lower level employees remained uninformed.

After we had the knowledge of what current product to inventory, we then needed to establish a set of guidelines of how to qualify products in the future. Inventory control management processes were instituted as well as a supply an auditing system. These steps included information from organizational members from our manufacturing group, planning department, and procurement department.
