Museum Analysis Essay
On October 26, 2017. I made a visit to the Menil Collection by 1533 Sul Ross street, Houston Texas. It was amazing to be in such a lovely place. I was accompanied to the museum by my aunt name Cynthia. who volunteered in taking care of my new born baby during the trip. Everything at the museum is so great. Especially the people that work there, the way they communicate with the tourist was so simple and understanding. Even at the end of the visitation, I was given a sticker which was placed by the right-hand side of my chest. During the visit, they are some lots of great artworks that I admire so much. In Victor Brauner “Memory of Reflexes” (memoire des reflexes), 1954. The artist incorporates vibrant colors and patterns,

His artwork is permanent part of the Menil Collection. However, this artwork was painted with watercolor, link, and wax on hardboard 49 1/8 x 54 3/8 inches (124.8 x 138.1 cm).
I chose this artwork because it was one of the work that remained in my memory throughout the museum visit. Though, I saw other great artwork design in the Menil Collection but I really adored the way the pieces retorted to my emotional side. I really wish if I would have this artwork in my home. The first thing that catches my eyes was the way the colors were used. They were three images shown on the artwork. The one on the right-hand side was painted with yellow and green with a light color of pink and red on the chest side which appears more brighter and coloful. On the other hand, the one on the left-hand side was painted with red and pink and a little green at the feet side which looks more specifically like Egyptian royal traditional way of dressing. Furthermore, the middle one was design with more of green, black, and red color on the head and legs side that gives patterns to the artwork. Meanwhile, the background was like yellow that seems like fading into dark brown color. It seems that the concertation of the artist focuses more on the colors that brings out the beauty of the image. However the visual rhythm and movements, shows more traditionally way of communication. Moreover, the watercolor, ink, and wax was
In this letter I present the most recent analysis and design of the Comprehensive Balance Scorecard (BSC) for a non-profit, award-winning, and highly progressive with an outstanding broad-based collection, Otago Museum. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is an example of a performance measurement system. The newly created performance measurement system incorporates four different dimensions, such as Financial, Community / Customer Perspective, Internal Business, and Learning / Innovation and Growth, in an effort to achieve goal congruence within an organization. Financial area is concerned with how well a company is using its resources. Also, it shows if an organization can further expand and operate its desired programs. Community / Customer
One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
The main purpose of this paper is to describe the visual analysis of the artwork. This paper examines an Egyptian half nude portrait art which is taken from Metropolitan Museum of Art (Fig.1). The statue characterized both male and female seated figure with a Braid hair. In this essay, I will present a complete visual description of this artwork (its preservation, costume and iconography), and then I will compare it to another artwork which is chosen from Textbook that is Akhenaten and his Family (Fig. 2).
The painting has contrasting colors like red, white, yellow and green. While it also has some dark colors to create a sense of power. These vivid colors create a complementary contrast. The dark red background with the gold designs makes the black man wearing the different shades of green stand out. Also, the white horse has various colors of brown and black which makes it stand out from the red. The main idea is to see the black man on the horse and you can tell Wiley thought the color scheme through. The contour lines Wiley used were organized, thin, and nicely controlled when it came to drawing the horse’s hair and body figure. Also, gold lines were detailed in the background creating a type of pattern to create an illusion. Closely, if you look into the background Wiley drew little sperms to complete the background. Lastly, the actual texture of the painting has a smooth finish. The oil on canvas painting almost makes it seem like if you touch it the horse would be silky
In Fred Kleiner’s Gardner’s Art Through the Ages, he has listed some of the oldest and most ancient works of art discovered from different archeological site, which were later transferred to various museums. As we delve deeper into the chapters, we discover how art forms evolve across different time lines – from the art of the Paleolithic period to the arts of the near-East and Egypt. The works of art across the different timelines also indicate the kind of culture people have, because such culture can be seen in how they present their arts. Therefore, there is a clear development that is happening back then, because of the evolution of the arts and the presentation of the artists based on their culture. Taking everything into consideration, this project aims to discuss how arts develop throughout the different timelines – the Paleolithic period and the Ancient near-East and Egypt – and how such art forms present the cultural context of the artists.
In the cleavage area has vertical line as well as horizontal on the dress. The detail the artist put into making sure the dress, belt had the right amount of details to catch everyone’s eye who took time to view his figure. The vertical line on the tassel and the knot tie just right to display the left side of the figure waist line. Indicates the figure was a petite woman. The hair is wavy in the front and pulled into a ponytail at the back. I feel there were serval focal points with in the piece after reexamine the figure the three times. Each time something else stood out shifting my focus from the original focal point. There are many repeats of all the lines with in the figure. The artist only has half of the figure's feet and arms expose which displays start and stopping points for the gown. I feel the use of the white marble may display the cold hardness of the figures heart. The smooth texture of the marble gives a life like feel of the figure. The chair has legs of an animal
From the colors used to the people that are fighting. The location, in the seas where they transported slaves. The colors play a major part in showing the African concept. The vibrant colors show that the art is more than just the painting in front of you. It shows life, it gives emotion and motivation. It gives me a better understanding of what is going on, and what is about to happen. The clothing provided to the slaves are very African. They are just cloth, so they do not dedicate or urinate on oneself. Because in this day African men were not given clothing because their skin needs to be showing just in case they missed behaved they would and or could be whipped on their backs, for disobedience. The muscle definition id very African like, many of the slaves in this era were very muscular because they always were hard physical labor. In this painting, you can see the upper muscles they have, their abs and even the leg muscles and definition that provided. The weapons that are used play a role in the African standpoint. They don't use many weapons except a knife. This shows you that they are not really technology equipped they just used what they knew best, because as and African American before they stole you out of your country, one would hunt for themselves and their
Museums add new context for artwork, since historical items were not made to be in modern museums. A Pair of Sensing Angels by Circle of Bernaert Orley are two ‘one by three foot’ oil painting on wood from 1535-1540 that depicts two angels. Presently it is located in Gallery 117 at the Art Gallery of Ontario. When observing “A Pair of Censing Angels” we can infer the subject, the value the painting held, and how the meaning alters in its present setting. This visual analysis observes the properties in A Pair of Sensing Angels and the response that these properties and the museum display has on the viewer.
The element and research made me realize what this piece really meant and why Tamayo painted it. He drew this mural because it was a perfect opportunity to fulfill lifelong dream of the them the aspirations of mankind. The Dallas Museum of Arts is an amazing place for the community because it is a great way to learn about different cultures through there art work and sculptures. It has painting from around the world and is open to anyone that wants to see. I think it’s a great place and everyone should go check it out at least
Its dimensions are 30¼ by 48½ in. I viewed this artwork on mfa.org. It is one of the three paintings he produced at Prout’s neck in 1885 describing the live of north atlantic men. This style of art in this work, like many of his other pieces, is realistic. There is a fisherman in the row boat.
Whether pride, fear, or peace, art is intended to make the viewer feel an emotion. The visit to the St. Louis Art Museum had me excited to discover a new revelation. Being the second time that I had visited in two semesters, I was looking forward to a new angle to take, writing about some of my favorite pieces I was unable to include in my last paper. This semester we have been focusing on the Renaissance era (1300-1700), also known as the Rebirth. During this time, scholars and artists looked back towards the classical learning. Purposefully looking past the middle-ages, they focused on the classical past of Rome and Greece. During this time period many works of art were created, however, throughout this semester every major artist we studied
The work is organized very well, the men and women are evenly distributed. The color to me is soft and light, it is made up of lights and darks that go well and transition together very well with no vibrant colors. The lines are smooth in some place and fuzzy in others. If you look at the women holding the dog on the table you can see how the lines are smudged away to create a fuzzy looking appearance. The shapes are natural there are no shapes that are not meant to be in the painting. The format overall is 3D, the artist makes the people look real by making the smudge go away from the person. The artist also used all the space in the painting the only space not used is in the back ground but the artist fills that with boats and the water in the distance. The author made the painting look scratchy but smooth by the smudges which gives the painting texture. The author uses unity in the painting there is nothing that is out of place everything looks the way it would if this event was happening now. There is an equal amount of balance in the painting nothing is too big or small and the items are proportioned throughout the image. The contrast in the painting is just right the men and women are wearing the opposite contrast but because they are evenly placed it balances out the painting. The first item I see when I look at the painting is table filled with wine
I believe that this artist wanted the viewer to take a moment to appreciate culture. This artist shows the beauty behind culture and uniqueness. Both pieces require the viewer to take a step back and ponder on the piece. I believe that in doing so, I was able to connect with both pieces and find
First you see the different shapes of people, animals and other objects. With the different shapes you can see what is the subject of the painting, which would be Nebamun. The use of colors can also being seen in the tomb, the colors that the artist or artists use can shows which figures are the men and woman. Also it is use to separate the mortals and the god and
