Growing up, there was several different career paths I wanted to take but was not reachable at the time. Throughout my high school my career goal was to be a civil or mechanical engineer. At the time, it wasn’t clear to me what a engineer’s job function is. My family urged me to pursue that dream just because of the perks that comes with it such as money. Math was never my strong suit, neither was school and to become an engineer, several mathematics courses are required. My first two years as a transfer student in college, I had no idea what my career path should be if engineering doesn’t work out. After taking careful consideration, working in the tech industry was something that needed to be done. A few friends of mine gently pushed me in that direction but my vision to pursue a career in tech was a bit fuzzy. Eventually I started leaning towards business, but by then it was already to late for me to switch majors. I chose Sociology as my major because I found the courses interesting to learn, and it is something I can apply to business. Earlier this semester, I decided to push towards specific fields such as sales or human resources. Eventually, I do see myself In a leadership position at work such as a management position in my work place. I do believe I have what it takes to become a manager, but only after being with a company for some time so I can understand the concepts and how to adapt to the given environment.

Experiences often have a noticeable impact on potential career paths, and I am no exception. I spent a major portion of my recent summer interning at Sanford Health, a local hospital, with Sanford Vascular Innovations, a research group located within the hospital. As part of my internship, I became involved in the patent process for novel medical devices and observed live surgery, both state-of-the-art and timeless, to increase my understanding. Observing the live surgeries provided me with a more knowledgeable position from which to write a background of current medical treatments for the novel medical devices. Even though the specific medical devices were not in the trial phase, just observing the operations afforded me a greater understanding of how the device could be used and where potential complications could occur. Performing the actual surgery would provide even more insight into how medical devices are used and where complication may occur.
My alternate career path is nursing. I think this would be a good career for me because in nursing you have to work with people and you help them, and I like to help people anyway I can. I didn’t pick nursing as my major because to be a nurse you have to go to school for four years and I didn’t want to do that, so I decided to do a degree that is only two years.
In 2012, a 14-year old girl was shot in the head on a bus ride home from school in Pakistan. She was targeted by the Taliban because she believed in the rights of education for women and was not afraid to take a stand against this oppressive regime. Malala Yousafzai at 17-years old is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Since then, Malala has opened schools in Lebanon, has a charity called The Malala Fund, and continues to speak to world leaders to fund the right for education. Malala is a pioneer for educational rights, just as I hope to be a pioneer for chemical engineering.

Ever since I was little I loved taking things apart especially electronics and just learning how things worked. Recently I got into computers around when I started high school and now that sort of has become my hobby. I was originally going to try to be a mechanical engineer then I started to consider computer and electrical engineering. I believe I would like computer or electrical engineering for a career choice because of my interest’s in electronics and how they
have always had the passion to be a business professional. I have decided to major in accounting to get a career path in auditing. The CPA profession gives me the power to put an end to white collar crime. Through the tighter regulations by the Security Exchange Commission and the integrity and honesty of a CPA I believe this can be achieved. Also, I chose auditing because it is sort of a social career since one gets to meet with business executives, clients and other divisional auditors. I am interested in keeping track of payments, financial positions and the transfer of capital or income. My ultimate goal is to be a Certified Public Accountant and own an accounting firm. I would love to own a firm that will provide audit, tax and consulting services at an affordable price to the public. In order to own a reputable and respectable organization, you need to be a CPA. Being a CPA in today's competitive business environment, gives one an edge and a distinction over business competitors. The CPA which is a vital part of any strong business or organization is the most respected and valued credential in the financial community. Another reason for me wanting to be a CPA is the prestige and respect that comes with it. Being a CPA transcends one above
During my school career, I have excelled in science, math, and music. I enjoy these areas of study, and I like the challenge each disciple requires. I feel my background in these areas has prepared me to begin work on an engineering degree. During high school, I took AP math and science classes and did well on the AP exams. In addition, I took a robotics class for three years, and competed in the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) state robotics competition, two of the three years. In addition to academic classes, I was in the marching band and advanced concert band playing the most difficult part each season. I participated in the UIL state solo and ensemble contest and state marching contest multiple times. Once at Texas A&M, I joined
One of the most important decisions in my life is to choose a career that I will enjoy and find interesting for many years ahead. It is important that I have the ability to provide well for myself and future family. In an effort to stay current in the marketplace, I am committed to keeping an open mind as career paths change, and dedicating time for continued education. I believe that my career choices for the future greatly depend upon the knowledge that I have of myself, information regarding my career options, testing field work, and making deliberate decisions now. Success in this endeavor will depend upon a quality analysis of these aspects, and the proper application of that knowledge. My effort in gaining a quality education is the
My career path was rerouted after the birth to my son. I was managing a 24-hour Alarm Monitoring Call Center with two years of college education in Psychology. Due to an inconsistent work schedule and difficulty locating Psychology courses that worked around my schedule, I decided to change my career path to Business Management, since I already had nearly 8 years experience in supervision and management. My mentor introduced me and made me familiar with the Dictionary of Occupational (DOT) following high school. The DOT is comprised of all occupations and job titles, salary ranges, responsibilities, and industries (Berry, 2003). As I prepared for my new journey, I evaluated my decision, researched, planned, applied for new occupations that interest me, and prepared for my new career in Management.

As I grew up with my dreams and goals, I faced many circumstances which took me to a different path of hardships and sacrifices. However, I have always been focused on what I wish for my future and how to pursue my dreams. During my high school, I had to deal with cyber bullying and being blackmailed at a very young age which tore me apart from what I actually was as a person but as days passed by and as I got more influenced by the career I wanted, I moved on and since then have been working hard to reach this level. Although I believe in working hard as it will definitely pay off but due to my financial situation which has always been a major problem in the opportunities I received, I had to give up on many things. I have always been passionate about my further education and what I had to major in and I believe this scholarship will help me achieve that.

Choosing a career path is a bit like playing pin the tail on the donkey. Possible outcomes include: The player could become dizzy from the countless directional choices, wander away from the primary target, or forge ahead with confidence toward the ultimate prize. Fortunately, the last outcome reflects my path to my dream career. I discovered at an early age that I was interested in the field of medical science. Although my decision has evolved some over the years, I have never wavered in my general opinion that my career path will lead me into the medical field.
