It had been a busy Friday. I came home from a long day of high school, and I was so excited because for once I didn’t have a basketball practice. On top of that, I had plans to go on a date, I was always so busy that I never went on dates. This wasn’t just an ordinary date though this just so happened to be ‘the most popular guy in school’. I was very excited, but after school all that I wanted to do was go home, get a snack, lay down on the couch, prop my feet up, and relax for a while. Maybe even take a nap before I got ready for my date. I did just that. I got home, skipped the snack because mom was making dinner, laid on the couch, and was slowly drifting into a nap when all of a sudden I heard a big bang, crash, and then silence. I jumped up, and ran to the kitchen. There was my mother lying on the floor, with hot grease burning her, and food all over the floor she had just cleaned earlier that day. I helped her up, and took her to the bedroom where I proceeded to help her clean up, putt burn ointment on, and told her, “just relax mom, I’ll take care of it.” She just sat there so ashamed. This was a normal occurrence; my mom falling. But this time there just seemed to be something a little bit different about it. Usually mom won’t relax, and she’ll keep going. I examined my mother walking to the other room. Her walk worse than usual. I had a lump in my throat as I asked, “Could I examine your ankle, and leg? She said, “I guess. But I am fine.” I rolled up her pant leg,
My life flipped for the better once I left the 8th grade, it was finally summer time and I was ready for it. But deep down I knew once summer was over high school here I come. I won't even lie, I was terrified to start as a freshman in high school. All of the rumors that I heard with baby freshman day, and all the stuff they do to freshmens on the first day of school. To be honest I was really nervous, instead of a couple butterflies in my stomach I had the whole family flying around. But once the first day of high school came up all those rumors that everyone was telling me was actually a lie. High school wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. As my freshman year went on a lot of doors opened up for me, there were sports, clubs, new people to me, everything you could possible think of. I didn't really get into sports as much as all of my friends, I was more into video games and playing outside in the woods just adventuring finding old vintage things and old buildings and all of the beautiful views. My freshman year wasn't really too special, I was too busy figuring out what everything was and where everything was located at. Then my sophomore year came along this is where I started to get the foundation of high school and blend in. everything kinda went downhill I made good grades don't get wrong, it's just I never showed up which I regret miserably. Once I got to my junior year everything is still constantly changing, a lot more people know of me. I was never
Four years of my life drained away at this place called Troy High School. After this year I will be walking away from Troy, worn and torn from the hours of anticipation for grades to be posted, the next weekend to arrive, the answer to whether that special someone will say yes to the next dance, or the unbearable wait for that painstaking bell to ring. Troy is a place of education, a very good one at that, with its Blue Ribbon Award and national recognition, you’d think I would be walking away with knowledge that will serve me well for decades to come, but no. I could have learned the same things I learned at Troy anywhere, it is the insight I picked up that will take me far. “What insight?” you ask. Its priceless wisdom really, it’s a
There’s four main seasons that occur throughout the year. I’ve always loved the saying “like the seasons we change.” When I hear this saying I like to think of a tree; how it can go from being a little sprout, to small tree with only branches, to being so full of life with colors and leaves everywhere. This tree withstands the scorching hot summers, the brutal cold winters and all of what is in between. This tree stands strong and continues to grow and mature through it all. I would compare myself to this tree as I have grown, and matured as well. Throughout my four years of high school I’ve changed just like the seasons.
Sophomore year of high school was a very different experience than the other years of school, mainly because, in English class, we had to use a blog. Most of the time, I used the Chrome browser to access it, but I occasionally used the Internet Explorer browser or Firefox browser. The host of the website was Weebly.com, a company that allows people to create their own website. When we made our blogs, we included many types of essays and reviews to videos or items we saw in class. Often times, this included attaching a hyperlink to a picture or text so that it would be easier to access a certain resource. This class allowed us to learn about certain websites and how they are formatted, like a wiki. Although it wasn’t a good source, we sometimes used Wikipedia because it was the easiest to use and find information about our topics.
We all have different kinds of the first day of school experiences, but for every student, I feel that stepping into the first day of school as a freshman would mark as the most memorable day in all high school years. Before the first day of school, I quickly thought that my freshman year would turn into the toughest and saddest year in my experience. My best friend would not attend the same high school with me, which already gives me many conclusions of how sad and hard of a school year it would result. However, maybe things will turn out differently than we think if we just change something about our way of living it.
I sat on my bed with my arms wrapped tightly around my pillow swaying back and forth. My mom lightly knocked on my door and asked if she could come in. I tried to wipe away the stains left by my long stream of tears, but I felt my skin sting and eyes swell instead. She asked if I wanted to talk about it, but my response got stuck in my throat, so all I could do was shake my head and shove my head deep inside my pillow. Her bare feet smacked on the concrete as she made her way over to my bed. Her weight made an indent in the corner of my mattress as she sat down and laid a hand on my back.
It all started freshman year, I’m so excited for high school I thought to myself, I’m going to do so well. I walked into those doors on top of the world. Nothing could bring me down I thought, I was in high school now. Being in high school makes you invincible right? No, that’s wrong being in high school is like walking on broken glass, with each step you bleed more and more until you can’t keep walking. High school breaks you down until you have two choices, stay broken or rise up.
My birthday falls on the last week of school most of the time. It doesn't really matter to me though, my family always celebrates it and gets me donuts in the morning before school. This last year, freshman year, was also the year that my sister, Hanna, with no h, mind you, graduated from high school. Graduation was just a few days after my birthday, so I was a little bothered with the fact that none of my extended family that came for Hanna’s graduation remembered my birthday. The day of my birthday, the little Facebook notification popped up on people’s screens telling all of my Facebook friends that it was my birthday. I got a whole 16 posts on my timeline from my Facebook friends! My aunt and uncle from Texas came for her graduation, and it wasn't until they went out to get my sister a graduation gift at Target that they had actually been reminded, by me, that it was my birthday and decided to buy me a “Star Wars” birthday card with Chewbacca on the front. I didn't get donuts that morning.
The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun, rebel-rousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and wondering were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can remember are the good times. High School is a very emotional time for many teens and everything matters. The insidious problems that I had to face are but a smudge on my memory, things like too much homework, zits, mean people, gossip, and algebra. The social atmosphere that permeated every aspect of high school could
My first year of high school was filled with adventures and difficulties throughout the years. Comparing to my other years, I took challenges, such as taking on sports while finding the time for my school works and achieving my goals. However, I was able to find the way and fight through my freshman year.
High School Do you remember your high school days? High school for me has proved to be a learning experience and also a challenge. There are many lessons that can be learned. You can learn more about yourself, who your friends are, what kind of help is offered to you, and what your strengths and your weaknesses are. Attending High School helped build my confidence because my classmates were supportive, my teachers taught me how to study for tests, and the math tutors helped me overcome my fear of math.
When people start high school they’re usually so excited. They can’t wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn’t? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I’m months away from graduating, I can’t say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn’t say that they weren’t fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I’ve learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I’m glad they happened because I wouldn’t have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn’t changed; I’m still a carefree girl,
Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me, that’s a day that I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but nervous, about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There are several reasons why I, still
Any senior right now will honestly ask themselves how they could have possibly made it this far knowing how stressful high school can be. To finally come to this point in my life it feels amazing. Many seniors have their own way of making it to this place in time. I will give the reader my advice and thoughts on how to make the most of your life in high school.
To some, four years seems like a long time, but for me the past four years have flown by. In these quick four years, so much has changed and yet so much is exactly the same. You still go to school with most of the same people. You walk into the same familiar building and say hello to most of the same teachers. During these four years I have lost some friends, but I have gained real ones, which is one of the most important things to me. My outlook on life has changed. I have become a more open and understanding person and I have learned many valuable life lessons. I have made many great memories and I have learned to appreciate everything I have because nothing is permanent. My journey through high school is like a plane ride. It takes off freshman year and I go on a long, and sometimes bumpy, journey to get to my final destination. Even though in many ways I am still the same person as the one that walked through those school doors as a freshman, I have also changed in order to try to become the best version of myself and get to my final destination.
